This was our second visit to this site for 11 nights as we were visiting friends in Taunton. Previously we had used this as a stop-over on the way to Cornwall. We were allocated a grass pitch which we were pleased with (initially)as it was quite large compared to the many narrow hardstanding pitches dotted around the toilet block. The site wardens were friendly but not 'in your face'. There are many pros and cons in my opinion for this site as follows:-

Pro's

1. Large grass pitch sizes with adjacent 10 amp hook up point.

2. Toilet block kept spotlessly clean.

3. The site is well situated for exploring the area including Minehead, Lyme Regis, Exeter, Weston-Super-Mare and Cheddar Gorge to name but a few.

4. A great walk to Taunton on mainly dedicated foot / cycle paths and through Vivary Park (2. 5 miles)

Cons

1. Traffic noise from the nearby M5 is constant day and night so this may put some people off.

2. There is a large barn building at the edge of the site and the smell of urine is overpowering when the wind is in the wrong direction.

3. The taps are push style with no means of attaching a hose so water sprays everywhere and it impossible to judge when the water will turn off.

4. The showers were luke-warm in the main and despite complaints to the wardens, nothing changed.

5. The pitch we were on was close to the route used by the majority of people to get to the one skip for rubbish so passing foot traffic was a problem.

6. No effort made to recycle any rubbish which is disappointing in this day and age.

7. The approach to the site narrows to one way on Killams LAne and we were narrowly missed by local traffic on a couple of occasions.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay but we would not go back for such a long period of time in the future.

Spent 5 nights at the site, booked a grass pitch with ehu. The wardens had mats in place before our arrival - to protect the grass - which indicates the level of care taken of the site. Site has 48 pitches and about half were in use. The majority of the used pitches appeared to be taken by long stay visitors.

The facilities block is relatively small (men: 2 showers, 2 toilet cubicles, 2 urinals, 3 washbasins, hand dryer, women: similar, I understand, with more cubicles!) but we're almost always empty when I visited them. They are spotlessly clean, warm (underfloor heating!), hand basins had handwash and water in showers became quickly warm with dry place for clothes and piped Radio 2!. Facilities for washing pots/pans are outside but covered with again plentiful hot water. Some of the best facilities I have come across.

The site was quiet with very helpful wardens who were often around but not obtrusive. The loudest noise comes from walking or driving on the gravel - some of the long term residents appeared to leave early in the morning - this was not a problem.

Nearest shop is about a mile away and there is no nearby pub however the centre of Taunton is only about 2. 5 miles away and can be cycled to largely by dedicated cycle route.

There are numerous water taps round the site but most are push button which seem to spray everywhere - this is one of the very few things I would change on the site. Also, not very green, all waste goes to landfill with no recycling.

There are no specific facilities for children - only one young child spotted during our stay - this is really a site for adults who value peace and quiet - apart from the ever present Motorway roar which I confess to not noticing after a while.

Would I stay again - definitely yes.

Easy to find and the site is well kept. Nice hot shower rooms that are extremely clean. Wardens are friendly and helpful. Small orchard to the side of the camp to take my dog for a walk.

The site is very close to the M5 so quite noisy, dogs are allowed to be off the lead on the site and one of the dogs wandered over and snapped at mine which was on a tie up cable, not much to do without using transport, no local pub to wander to. Free WiFi but it is a very weak signal.

After coming off ferry from Spain found this near perfect campsite. Rather hard to find but when you get there can't ask for more the cleanest well kept site have seen for a long time nice hot showers just what we needed. Small amount of food goods would have been good though sugar milk nothing out of the ordinary just the basics.

We stayed on this site for three nights as our first venture out in our motorhome as we were having an alarm and solar panel fitted. It was easy to find with good signage and first impressions were that it was clean, tidy and well kept. The wardens were very helpful and friendly. The hard standing gravel pitch had a grass area beside it with a picnic bench for us to use.

It has electric hook up, fresh water filling points, grey water disposal, washing up facility and a chemical disposal point.

The site was very quiet (apart from the low drone of the M5 which wasn't a problem) and we were close to the toilets. The toilets and showers were clean well appointed and had piped music.

The site is close to Taunton and many other places of interest. We visited Vivary Park and Hestercombe Gardens. There was also an orchard next to the site were we could walk our little dog.

Everyone on the site were friendly and helpful to us as newbies to motor homing. I would recommend this for not just an overnight stop over but also a longer base to explore Somerset.

We booked here for two nights in order to visit Taunton on our way to Devon. The site was as described by other reviewers, clean and well maintained. The pitch sizes were generous and hard standings level.

Having read the review about some noise from the adjacent M5 I had wrongly assumed that it would be just off the motorway at J25 but satnav saved the day again!

It was too far for us to walk to the city but we rang for a taxi which dropped us in the centre of Taunton. A lovely place which we would be happy to visit again and explore further.

To Find Site:- The site is about 4 miles from junction 25 on the M5 at Taunton. Follow A38 towards Taunton. At the first set of traffic lights turn left towards Corfe on the B3170. The campsite is well signed along the route. The final approach does narrow in places. Once over the motorway bridge the entrance to the site is left turn in about 50 metres.

Cornish Farm is a small basic campsite with an open aspect not far from junction 25 on the M5 at Taunton and is open all year. Reception sells a few essentials including a good range of caravan/motorhome bits. There are 48 pitches, 25 of which are hardstanding on gravel. The hardstanding pitches are quite long but not very wide so it would be a tight fit to get caravan and awning without encroaching on the grass. There seem to be a number of seasonal campers on site. Electric points are convenient to the pitches and are rated at 10 amps. Likewise water points are dotted around the site. There is a very nice quality central toilet block which also contains washing machines and a dishwash area. Next to the toilet block is a motorhome service point. The site has free WiFi although not the strongest signal I have used. There are no facilities for children. Being close to the M5 there is some background hum from the motorway although you quickly get used to it.

This campsite is a convenient stopover near to the M5. It would also be a useful place to stay to visit the surrounding area. For motorhomers Vanbitz the motorhome specialist fitter of accessories is right next door. Taunton is a busy commercial centre with a good range of shops. The Museum of Somerset, in the town, is worth a detour and it’s free. Just off junction 25 is a large Sainsburys with a fuel station that is suitable for motorhomes.

Found this site to be perfect for our stop off en-route to Devon, was easy to locate, and wardens gave us a very warm welcome. The toilet and showers were perfect, very clean and warm. The field is flat and also convenient to the racecourse.

Only annoyance were some inconsiderate campers allowing dogs to run free at the bottom of the site, they seem to be long stayers who have become complacent to the rules.

Hopefully the new wardens will spot this and then the site will indeed be perfect.

Stayed here for free whilst Vanbitz (adjacent!) fitting extras to our van. Excellent site in every way - and very friendly and helpful people! Just found very pleasant off-road path into Taunton. (1 & 1/2 miles. Taunton very pleasant town - in fact we would consider staying here again whether or not the wonderful Vanbitz were working on our van! Many thanks to family.

Free Wifi and good TV reception by the way. Only downside site is quite remote - no pubs round the corner! Follow directions from their website rather than satnag. Will be back!

New compact but well thought out 50 pitch site located 2 miles outside Taunton. Most pitches are hardstanding with grass division between sites.

The central facilities block is modern and clean but with only 2 showers and WC (in male) may prove busy is site is full.

Site has direct access to the numerous footpaths that criss-cross the area and is only ½ mile from Taunton racecourse. Taunton is an easy 2 mile walk/bike ride mainly on off road marked lanes/paths.

Nearest convenience store is 1 mile from site.

Downside, the site runs parallel to the M5 with its relentless background drone. However this is not loud enough to block out the bird song so not too intrusive. Another item is the bizarre fresh water taps that are time based percussion with no hose connection. Not ideal when trying to fill a 120 litre water tank!

Bonus – free site WiFi with very good connection.
