We have just returned from a very relaxing 2 weeks at Camping du Letty. There isn't much that can be said about the site that hasn't already been said by other reviewers, but I will add my 'two-penneth'.
The site is very large but has an intimate feel, due to the hedges which divide the groups of pitches. Pitches are large enough for a car and a trailer tent or caravan, so if you have a small 'ish tent then you will have bags of room. The toilet/shower blocks are clean and functional, they were cleaned twice a day whilst we were there (you will need your own toilet roll after about 9 am!). The showers are very nice with plenty of hot water, the 60c token lasts long enough for two people, as long as you are both quick (hairdryers are free to use). There are a couple of laundries on the site and there are also ironing boards in each toilet/shower block, the irons can be borrowed from reception with a 20 euro deposit.
The site shop is well stocked, and as far as we were concerned was not really any more expensive than the local Carrefour for most items.
The beach which is adjacent to the site is fantastic (although you will need to watch that you don't get cut off on the sand bars by the very fast incoming tide). Sea kyaks seem to be very popular with a lot of site users so if this is your thing then this campsite may be the perfect place for you.
We only used the take-away on the last day, whilst waiting to leave for the ferry, but the moules frites were extremely nice - be aware that the French tend to put a lot of salt on chips without asking so if you don't like salt make sure you let them know!
The site staff are extremely friendly and helpful and nothing seems too much trouble for them, including allowing you to leave late on your last day if you need to hang on (our ferry was late night and they didn't mind us leaving at 7 pm, they even left the electric connected for no extra charge).
They are just about to start construction of a large swimming pool, complete with slides etc, on the site and once this is finished it will make it an even more fantastic campsite.
With regard to the location, Benodet is a charming town with plenty of beach space and a pretty port. Quimper is not too far away and the ancient stones at Carnac can be reached by car in a couple of hours. There are plenty of interesting towns within easy driving distance of Benodet so you can always find something to do. There is a small cycle hire location just around the corner from the campsite and a ride around the local lanes and estuaries is a must.
We will definitely be visiting again next year.

Visited Letty in last week of July and 1st week of Aug. We stayed for 16 nights. This was our first trip to France for many years.
What can I say the camp site is great. Lots of room, a great mix of nationalities, all of which are friendly, our 3 year old loved playing with any of our foreign friends even though there was a language barrier.
Staff are excellent, all showers, toilets and wash areas are cleaned twice a day.
The sand right outside the campsite is course but never stopped us or our 3 year old from playing on it! most people took inflatables and headed over to the long stretch of beach which ran level with the sea. Kids were loving the current in and out of the bay, using boards, boats or just swimming with the current. Great fun was had by all.
A pool is being put in next year which may spoil the site!?? as you have the biggest pool of all right on your door step!
The site was quite at 11pm and people were not making noise till 9ish, which was great for rest. There was a set of 3 tents that turned up on our last night, the type that give Brits a bad name. A lot of folks complained. Hopefully for them the campsite sorted. They had security guard 24/7.
I would definitely visit again. Well done Letty.

We visited Camping du Letty during the last two weeks in July. We'd only ever been away in the tent for weekends, so a two week holiday would be a real test. However, this campsite made things really easy, and it is difficult to find fault.
Upon arrival, you are able to walk around the site to choose your pitch. The ones next to the beach were really busy, for obvious reasons, but if you spend a few minutes looking round, with the site being so big, it should be possible to find a good spot. We visited with friends, and we found a pitch to ourselves. All the pitches are divided by hedges, so you are never too exposed.
For the first few days, our kids had the pitch next to us to themselves to play in, and throughout our stay, there was only ever a couple of other tents/caravans, although I don't know how busy the site gets in August.
There are plenty of toilet/shower blocks, so you are never too far from one. The toilets are unisex, which did take a bit of getting used to (some of the windows in the toilets open over the washing sinks on the other side which was a source of constant amusement). The facilities are really clean, and the showers are worth the 60c charge as you get 10mins of really hot water and all showers are temp controled.
We used the takeout a couple of times for convenience (the pizzas are really nice and not too expensive). The site shop is quite expensive but there is a Carrefort about 10mins away. The shop bakes croissants and pain-au-chocolate twice a day, there's nothing like fresh croissants for breakfast.
The campsites website doesn't do the beach justice, it's the main reason for coming to this site. The sand isn't the best quality as it's quite gritty, you couldn't build a sandcastle. We ended up buying some rubber beach shoes so we didn't mind. The water is beautifully clean and clear, and the kids spent hours snorkling and crabbing. The current is quite fast and even strong swimmers would struggle to get across to the lagoon, but once the tide was in (or out) this wasn't a problem.
To be honest, we didn't bother with any of the site's other facilities as we were happy with simply going to the beach (when the weather was fine) but the kids went to the playground quite often, this was quite a decent sized playground and kept them busy.
We were also able to rent a fridge for a week (as we were only actually staying for 10 nights).
I would recommend visiting Quimper (pronounced Kemper), a beautiful medieval town to explore. There is a music festival at the end of July and this added to the visit, and Concernau is another great town.
We've already said we plan to go back to Camping du Letty as it is a superb site, and with the planned swimming pool and slides for 2011, this can only make the place even better (although it remains to be seen if this puts the prices up).

This was our 1st time camping in France so admittedly nothing to compare it with however for our 1st time we were very impressed. The site was lovely, spacious pitches divided by hedges into paddocks for up to 7 units.
There was us and another tent on our paddock for 5 days then for a further 5 days we had the paddock to ourselves. The paddocks near to the beach were full because of the view. The site was only half full but it was before the main French holidays.
The pitches were all reasonably flat and a decent size with plenty of hook ups and water taps. The toilets and showers were very good,6 blocks on site (unisex, but we got used to this after a few days)and were always clean and well maintained.
On site are 2 bars, shop & takeaway/butchers/deli, tennis court, playground, archery and spa. The shop baked yummy fresh croissants & bread for breakfast. The takeaway was good and not too pricey (moules frites & steak haches were favourites) and you could eat on the terrace outside one of the bars.
The bar was expensive, 4 euros 30 for a large kronenburg and one poor man was charged 12 euros for 2 Glen Fiddichs! The staff on site were always friendly and helpful and most spoke good English, especially the barman who was born 5 miles from where we live.
A 15 min walk or 2 minute drive takes you into Benodet which is a pretty resort with a nice beach, harbour, shops, restaurants and bars and also river trips up the Odet to Quimper. There was a Carrefour supermarket and also a Netto within a short drive.
For next year they are building a large swimming pool complex with slides etc which will be better if you have kids as the beach next to the site was like gravel and the swimming was a bit dangerous due to the strong current running down the lagoon.
Everyone we spoke to on site said it was one of the best they had been to and we would quite happily go back next year (or tomorrow!)

We stayed at Camping Du Letty at the end of June for 5 nights. The site is quite large and is serviced by 3 toilet/shower blocks, dish-washing facilities and a laundry. The electricity supply uses the French 2-pin socket, so you will need an adapter.
The pitches are all on grass, some which lead directly onto the beautiful, sandy and safe swimming beach. Although the site is extensive, the pitches are quite large and are broken up with high, flowering hedges and mature trees for some welcoming shade.
There is a bar and restaurant (only open high season), a shop and a deli-type shop that provided fresh ready-meals, quiches, pies, etc every day, and also cooked pizza's, burgers, etc at night. At the moment there is no pool, but the owners are planning to build a swimming complex, and replace the existing bar/restaurant/shop next year.
The site is a 15 minute walk away to the quaint, seaside town of Benodet (20 mins along the beach, and much more picturesque), where you will find great shops, bars and restaurants, plus the boats which will take you up the river to Quimper (pronounced Kemper) with it's amazing churches and old architecture on a grand scale.
All in all, Camping Du Letty is a great site and the owners are very welcoming and accommodating. We had a wonderful time there.

Just returned from a 6 night stay and had a fantastic time.
The website does not, due the proximity to the beach, do it justice - it really is on your doorstep. The sea is warm and very clear perfect for a paddle or swim. Staff are very friendly and helpful, although having to leave a deposit for everything (iceblocks, books etc.) is a little tiresome
Facilities always clean and you get a good 10mins of hot water with the token
Would def return and recommend

Our family, (2 adults and 4 teenage children), spent 12 days at Du Letty and have got to say we really enjoyed it.
On arrival we were given a guided tour from a man on a bicycle and showed around 8 different pitches to choose from that suited our 8m caravan. The paddocks have around 4-6 pitches in each and even though some of the entrances are quite tight we just took our time and had no problem.
Wherever you are pitched the beach is no more than a 2 minute stroll away but be aware the sand is very course and really some kind of beach shoe is advised. The water is very clear and even with the tide out the kids can still play in the lagoon. Crabbing in the rocks seemed to be popular and also kids in dingys which can be bought from the shop on site.
The shop as said before can be a little expensive but is well stocked in an emergency. There is a supermarket about 5 mins drive away.
The toilet blocks and showers are very clean. Late at night it may be advised to take your own loo roll to the toilet as it often runs out until the cleaners start work at 7am. Also the showers are tokens from the reception at a cost of 60 cent and on a couple of occasions (early morning) they have been cold due to the boiler going out through the night, same situation, maintenance men start work at 7am and re-light them.
For the teenage kids, well you have table tennis, tennis courts, small park, football pitch, a few amusements and pool tables. You also have the club or for the adults a small bar. For smaller children there is not that much to be honest except the park which is by the main road at the entrance to the site.
The on site take away was reasonably priced with most things made fresh for you while you wait.
All in all if you are viewing the website of du letty what you see is what you get. There are no hyped up photos and if you are looking for a relaxing holiday then this is perfect. We were lucky that we had sun everyday and could let the kids go off while we chilled out on the beach or just relaxed on site. If the weather had been different I don't know if we would have enjoyed it so much with all the activities for the kids being outdoors.
I would recommend this site especially if you have teenage children.

A great campsite in a lovely location, right onto the beach.
When we arrived we were allowed to choose our own pitch. Pitches are mostly divided into 'paddocks' with mature hedges with 6-8 individual pitches within each paddock. We chose one paddock back from the beach. Nice grassy pitch with some shade from trees, lovely view of the sea.
Beach provided hours of fun for our children rock pooling, fishing, swimming and messing about in a kayak. The current when the tide was moving in or out was quite strong, but with supervision of the children this provided some fun swimming. The water was lovely (in wet suits) but it was ok if just in costumes. We wanted a relaxing week so spent most of it on the beaches.
Good Points.
Friendly staff, plenty of space to choose your pitch, location by the sea, shop was well stocked and prices ok for a site shop, take away was also good value for money, wash/shower blocks kept very clean. Close to Benodet for a strol along the coastal path. Supermarkets 10 mins by car.
Things to improve.
Why close the shower blocks at 10.30pm? A swimming pool would be a great addition, but then I'm sure the price would reflect this. Our children had loads of fun on the beaches but a pool is sometimes a bit of a change.
We would go back to Du Letty.

We stayed 14-23 August and the site was getting a little less busy. Pitch sizes were fine and we have a large tent, although they do vary. We took a few minutes to walk / drive round to find one we liked the look of. As mentioned by others, it's almost impossible to have a sea view but the pitches that do looked the most packed in and crowded. The whole site is so close to the beach that you may as well get a nicer pitch a little way back.
The hedge divisions are welcome, making the site a lot more cosy than a big open field. Helped as windbreaks as well.
Shop is a little pricey for some items but then that tends to be the way for convenience.
Toilets/showers were always clean although as a precaution I'd take some loo roll as the ones mounted outside the cubicles did run out now and again. No shortage of sinks and hot water for dish and clothes washing. Also good launderette on site.
The showers are 60c but they run long enough to double up if you're reasonably quick.
For a nice day out, hire a motor boat at Sillage (over the other side of the river Odet at Sainte Marine) and go to Quimper where there are a few spots to moor on the river. A much more personal trip than the large cruisers that go up the river. Top tip - if you get one of the smaller boats, pick a day where you go up and down the river with the tides.
For bodyboarding/surfing, try La Torche beach out to the west. Large free car park and long beach. Towards end of August not too busy but guess it might get crowded in main season. There were lifeguards on duty during the day.
Note for techno-nerds and work-on-holidayers - the free wifi on site is OK and if you have a hi-gain antenna a good enough signal can be had quite a long way from the buildings. You wouldn't want to try streaming video all day but fine for emails and general internet access. You need to get a WEP key on a slip of paper from reception and it changes periodically.

We have just spent 2 weeks at this site .The weather was not brilliant, but we had some really good days.
We had hoped to get a pitch overlooking the beach but this was not possible due to them being taken by people who mostly leave their caravans sited all year round and when you see the view who can blame them.
On arrival you are given a map of the site and you can walk round and choose which pitch you would like, depending on the size of your unit. Some of the pitch entrances are small and a few people damaged their vans trying to get in but in saying, that if you have a motor mover or take your time, unlike some people, you will have no problems.
Our pitch was only 50 meters from the beach. You didn’t get a view but it was still nice. The pitch was large with full service and surrounded by pine trees and hedges.
There is a bar with outside seating and a takeaway food shop opposite which you could buy food and eat outside the bar. It did very nice food from stuffed peppers to pizza and reasonably priced.
The site shop is fairly well stocked but expensive. Bread is baked twice a day.
There is a supermarket only 5 mins away and a hypermarket about 20mins away on the road to Quamper.
You can walk to the town of benodet which has a market on a Monday morning selling anything from seafood to handbags well worth the visit.
We do recommend this site if you just want a quite relaxing holiday. Apart from the bar and club house ,which while we was their had nothing going on in the evenings and was mainly used by the teenagers on site. It could however do with a swimming pool on site.
