We arrived here from the Vendee and compared to our previous site (La Guyonniere) we were a little disappointed.
Some bad points:
The pitches were OK, but a little small and hedged in, the play area was right next to the main entrance so the children needed accompanied each time they went. The sand on the beach is very coarse and the current is strong, however we did find if you crossed to the island the sand was finer.
Some good points:
The kids, 7 and 5, loved the disco and made some friends both French and English.
The shop was well stocked and the staff friendly.
All in all this site would be more suitable for teenage children as they could have more freedom, I was not comfortable leaving my two to wander off as there is a network of roads and each block of pitches leads out onto a through road, together with high hedges there is an accident waiting to happen. Also after a week long stay neither of them said they knew there way back to our pitch!

My family (me, hubby & 2 teenage daughters) have just returned from Le Letty and stayed for the last two weeks in August. We chose this site purely based on the numerous positive comments on this site and we were not disappointed; the site is fabulous and we too are thinking of going back next year.
The staff all speak very good English and are very helpful & friendly. The site is very, very peaceful and relaxing, with loads of lovely floral displays everywhere. Although the site is huge, it is separated into small paddocks by trees & hedges which held approx. 6 marked pitches. Some paddocks where smaller / bigger so held less / more 4 - 8. We found the size of the pitches no smaller than comparable sites in the UK, however the pitches nearer to the beach are more popular so the paddocks were full. We chose a lovely pitch further to the back of the site and we had a full paddock to ourselves for the entire holiday! Occasionally we could hear the music from L'Admiral (site bar) but it didn't go on too late and we didn't have a problem with noisy neighbours.
The roads and entrances to the paddocks are quite narrow, so if you have a big caravan like us a bit of patience & caution is required!
Further to previous comments, we never saw any problems with dog fouling on the site, but I did see lots of people walking their dogs on the beach, but again never specifically saw any mess.
There are plenty of toilet/shower blocks (so never queues) & they are all kept extremely clean and are reasonably modern, but yes the loo roll regularly ran out later in the day, so remember to take your own!
The shop & takeaway was great, especially the fresh bread & the takeaway food was really good quality!
We met lots of English regulars to Le Letty who have been visiting the site for years & they were all very friendly & helpful. I would estimate that approx. 60% of campers were French and the rest were English. The were only a handful of Dutch & German campers during our stay.
The beach was exactly what we expected from previous comments; yes the sand is very course & painful to walk on so without proper beach shoes (not flip flops or sandals) forget it! There are loads of rock pools when the tide goes out keeping kids (and us) amused for hours catching crabs etc! We did spend a couple of days on the beach though and it was great; we could walk back to the caravan in 2 minutes for lunch, loos etc & the water was clean; for us with teenagers the current (which could be quite fast) wasn't a problem.
The best beach is in Benodet; lovely soft sand, safe cordoned off swimming area's, lifeguards, showers & public loos and only a 5-10 minute walk away.
I do agree with other comments/suggestions that a large swimming pool would be a really good addition to the site.
Benodet is an absolute delight; a very clean, modern, chic seaside resort with loads of places to eat/drink, a marina & so much going on; free concerts every Friday in the summer, amazing firework displays on the beach and a lovely market each Monday morning. We would definitely recommend the cruise up the river Odet staying for a few hours in Quimper; a stunning town with loads of beautiful old medieval buildings, winding old streets - wow!
This was our first time touring in France and for those of you a little apprehensive I would say go for it; the driving was much easier than we anticipated, the roads are very quiet, loads of specific places to stop and have a break / picnic and the car parks are nearly all free! We got used to driving on the other side of the road after only a couple of hours! We got the ferry to Roscoff & the regulars all think this is definitely the best route, to this campsite (it took us 2 and half hours, sticking to all the speed limits)
On the return home, there is a large, free car park at Roscoff ferry terminal, so most people on the morning crossings back to UK drove there the night before and pitched up (some even pitched their tent on the grass around the car park) ready for the crossing the next morning.
I would offer the following tip; even at the supermarkets the food in France,is much more expensive than the UK so take plenty of your own as we made the mistake of travelling light & probably spent more money on food than anything else this holiday.
On the whole; we're hooked and will be back to France & Le Letty next year!

We visited Du letty as our first site on a 3 week tour of north west France in August this year. First mistake was miscalculating the distance from Calais to to Benodet (wont make that again). However once at the site via a couple of stops at Aire de Service (Bolais de Somme and St Michel, both excellent stop off points) we arrived at Reception and were given a site map and asked to choose our pitch. Like other comments on here I thought we rushed this a bit as I had left the car and van at reception (right in front of the bar)and we were left to our own devices to peruse the pitches. Like a lot of others, having heard about the closeness to the beach, we managed to obtain what at first we thought was an excellent spot, only one row back from the sand and very close to the shower and amenities block. Pitches are tight to get in and out of if towing a caravan (we ended up pushing ours in and out) but the staff assisted and hooked up our electrics.
I have to say this site is excellent in terms of access to the lagoon and sea however we were unfortunate that the weather was rather inclement for the 5 days we were there. Didn't stop the kids rock-pooling every day and bringing back monster crabs in their buckets. The days that were sunny were fantastic and the walk across the lagoon and over the dune to the sea beach proper is well worth it ( lagoon is around knee-high at low tide). Superb site for using dinghies, kayaks etc however you need to be very aware of the strong current from the lagoon when the tide is going out, it can very easily sweepyou out in seconds. I would also recommend some form of footwear, maybe beach shoes or a good set of flip-flops as the sand is very coarse and lots of rocks under the water.
As for the site facilities, they are very good. Shop is very well stocked, the bar looked busy (though we didnt try it) and the site is fairly quiet. In hindsight we would have chosen a pitch higher up the site as the closer to the beach you pitch the more foot traffic passes by, not good if you like a bit of privacy now and again. One word of warning! go armed with your own toilet-roll. Although the toilets are stocked each morning they do run out very quickly!
Laundry facilities are very good with a token system from reception as are the showers (0.60 Euros for a 10min hot shower)
Benodet is a 15minute stroll away and has a lovely seafront and excellent ice-cream. (we walked to Benodet by road then followed the coastal path back to the campsite)
The Champion supermarket is a 10minute drive through Benodet and is as big as Asda or Tesco and fairly well priced. The wine section is dirt cheap!
We spent an afternoon in Quimper, a beautiful old town with lots of shops and street vendors.
We would certainly look to go back to Du Letty again and now that we know the ins and outs of the site (and a channel crossing from Roscoff)we would look to spend a few more days here than our first visit. We would certainly recommend this site to others, espacially those with families

This was our first camping trip to Brittany and, as we were looking for somewhere to use our boat swim and surf, du Letty seemed perfect. First impressions are good as the reception area is beautifully landscaped with flowers. Our hearts sank somewhat as we took in the bustling, slightly 'holiday camp' atmosphere, and we thought we'd made a big mistake coming here. How wrong we were, thank goodness!
Despite it being high summer we found a pitch quite easily, second row back from the beach and less than a minute's walk away. We liked the convenience of water supply and EHU next to tent.
This is definitely the place to come if you a boat of any kind as there were any number of canoes, kayaks, dinghys and motor boats. Strong tidal currants in the estuary divide you from the main beach and gets quite deep at certain parts of the day, therefore unless you're confident in the water, when its not low tide, you'll need a boat to get to the beach on the other side of the dune.
Once on the open beach, we found the exciting Atlantic waves we came for. Perfect for flying kites, surfing, body boarding and windsurfing. These times were the highpoint of our French holiday and we spent our happiest hours swimming, surfing and picnicking on baguettes, cheese and fruit. Life simply doesn't get better than this!
However, whilst the beach is idyllic, during high winds the waves become bigger and more violent and one by one you see families coming out of the water leaving the ocean to the windsurfers. One of our body boards was broken by the waves and out of the water they flew like kites and almost knocked us out! That aside, still thrilling to sit and watch.
Nets and buckets are a must as the rockpools on the estuary were possibly the best we've ever experienced and positively teeming with different types of crabs and shrimps. This is not a beach to come to if your children want to make sandcastles as it's made up of tiny pebbles and shells but we found it rather beautiful and our feet were wonderfully ex foliated during our stay! Croc shoes seemed to be the must-have footwear here.
Cold showers are free, hot showers require token for ten minutes. I liked the useful drying racks above the washing up sinks. Plenty of loos, showers and sinks to go around, although can't say we saw any of the English try the squat loos that were also available.
One thing we hated was the lack of soap in the toilets and the toilet paper dispenser that was, bizarrely, positioned outside the cubicles and usually empty by tea time. Inconvenient and unhygienic! Would definitely advise putting together a waterproof 'loo-trip' bag, containing liquid soap, toilet paper and small flannel/towel which made life easier as you simply grab it when you need to go!
For our main food shop we used the Carrefour hypermarche in Quimper (pronounced 'Kemper' unless you want to upset the locals) Point to remember is that they require you to get your fruit and veg weighed/priced BEFORE you get to checkout or you'll infuriatingly end up having to go back and queue up again.
Would definitely recommend a meal at the supermarket's 'Casino Cafe' afterwards. For little more than the price of a Macdonald's meal you get fabulous food which is more bistro than cafe. We were never disappointed eating here and it was the kind of eating experience we came to France for.
Being next to the sea, our tent and gazebo were buffeted relentlessly some nights making cooking irritating. Whenever new people arrived we noticed their caravan / tent got scrutinized by (I have to admit) people like us. Fortunately everyone was very friendly and more than willing to let us have a guided tour! We've now decided to upgrade to a trailer tent.
This campsite lived up to all our expectations. We met so many interesting families with whom we shared memorable meals and barbecues and whom we're planning to stay in touch with. We'll definitely be back again!

We stayed on this site for 11 nights - our first ever trip abroad with 3 children (5-8years). Upon arrival at reception we were give a map of the site & told to choose a pitch & report back to reception to see if it was free - not an easy job with camper still attached so if you are given this option take 10 mins to figure out the site or go by foot. Pitches are of a reasonable size with access to water & electric - they will hook you up and kindly provided a continental adaptor for us.
4 wash blocks incorporating toilets, wash cubicles, hot showers (by token, 10 mins for 60cents), laundry facilities, washing up & the aforementioned dog showers! Baby baths are like big sinks but looked adequate for children up to about 18months old. Take your own loo roll, as it's dispensed at the door and often ran out - none in the cubicles. All of this was clean & tidy.
Childrens play area was quite away from the more populated pitches (near the entrance) so children needed to be acompanied. About 12 things to play on but never crowded when we were there.
The beach, we chose this site on the basis of the other reviews and a piece in the C&C magazine. However, we were really dissapointed with this! The sand is so coarse that we could hardly walk on it, even with crocs/flip flops on it was painful. The other side of the lagoon was only accessible at low tide or by canoe etc and involved walking through the rock pools or to the ends of the beach. It seems more suitable for older children than younger ones.
The shop & takeaway were good but closed for the early afternoon, pub was ok but was never very busy.
The only major issue we have is the amount of dog mess that was around the site & on the beach, people were letting their dogs roam free & were not clearing up after them, not nice or safe with young children running around.
Nearest supermarket & petrol station was in the town and Benodet seemed very pleasant. Other local towns were also within easy driving distance.

We came back from Du letty within the last 2 days and already we're talking about when we can go back! Although the weather was changeable (and our tent leaked) we had a fantastic time. The campsite is very very good. The staff are friendly and smiley, the campsite is beautiful, with shaded pitches and flowers everywhere, the facilities are excellent and very clean and it really was a genuinely friendly and relaxed place. We loved it!
On arrival we were allowed to go and have a look at available pitches (considering it was peak season there were lots of pitches available though all the ones beside the beach were taken). A member of staff came to hook us up to the mains as soon as we needed it and they brought a UK adaptor with them so we didn't need to use ours. We had no problems with reverse polarity.
The pitches are spacious and shaded, and all within toilet/washing facilities.
If you have children under 5 the 'baby baths' (situated at the end of each block of toilets, & signposted by a blue flower) are lifesavers. Our kids (aged 2 and 5) aren't keen on showers at all so these deep set baths set at waist level were brilliant. There are even hairdriers and nappy changing tables in each room too.
The kids playground is large and popular with some good equipment including a trampoline.
The beach is lovely but the water has a very fast current, too fast for little kids certainly. When the tide is out the rockpools are fabulous, with lots of crabs and shrimps to be caught. As other reviewers have commented, the sand is very rough so you will need beach shoes. The shop sells nets and beach shoes.
The takeaway does great pizzas and poulet roti (rotisseri chicken)and the shop is well stocked (selling not only food but gas cannisters, newspapers, camping equipment etc) but not the cheapest. For that you need the local Champion in Benodet. However, the on-site shop does great pain au chocolate and apple croissants but you need to get there early. My expanded waistline is testament to their yumminess.
For those wanting loud late nights beware of the 'sshh police' who will come and tell you to be quiet if you're too noisy after 11pm. Sadly, for us, we were usually crashed out by then anyway having enjoyed a full day on the beach or in Benodet. This is a perfect campsite for those new to camping (as we are)and/or those with young children.

A real challenge to get a larger caravan on to a pitch even with a motor mover unless you were prepared to be on piches right at the back of the sight. The hedges, although they provided privacy, were really high and made us feel a little claustrophobic. The road around the site was really narrow and a little advice from the reception would have been helpful. We were made to drive round to look for a pitch as there is no real area to wait in on arrival.Too much noise in the wee small hours from other campers leaving the bar. The sea was nice but the currents were strong and not suitable for small children when the tide was running. You had to take your toilet paper in to the cubicle from a dispenser on the wall and it was often empty. It was our most expensive site, and yet it had no pool and you had to pay for hot showers unless you were a dog!

We stayed for 2 weeks and found the toilets very clean and the pitches large although tight entrances for large outfits. The beach is ok but beware of strong tidal currents. The one thing missing on the site is a focal point, why ( when the current is so strong in the sea) don't they have a pool they have acres of space for one.

This was our first time towing on the continent and chose Du Letty due to all the positive reviews we had read on the internet.
This campsite really is as good as it seems in the reviews. The pitches are of a good size but can get a bit cramped the closer to the beach you get. Toilets and showers are kept spotlessly clean. The reception staff are really helpful and speak good English if required. Fresh bread and coissants are baked fresh twice a day at the onsite shop. Tasty food is available at the take away.
Our three year old daughter loved the play area and also the Mickey club on the beach in Benodet.
The beach and the water is clean, but the sand is very course so beach shoes are advisable (no chance of making sandcastles I'm afraid). Also please take care when swimming in the outlet as tide runs very fast at certain times of the day.
The nearby towns of Quimper, Fousenant and Concernau are all worth a visit. Try to sample the delicious ice cream, crepes and mussels.
Would I go back? Definitely.
Next year? Maybe, almost definitely.

This is a fabulous site! Whilst the sea front pitches were busy - we managed to get a pitch 50 yds from the sea. The site is large, with plenty of space if you wish to spread out. The take away food is excellent. The pub opening hours are a little odd, and the booze is not that cheap - but you can buy a reasonable selection of produce from the on site shop.
We will definitely be returning!
