I can’t keep this site to myself as it wouldn’t be fair as we can only go once a year. We loved it and have already booked the site for next year. Alison could not have been more friendly or helpful and gave us a nice pitch in the corner. The facilities were water, electric, toilets and shower although this was shared with men. They have only had the site for a few months and have fantastic plans for next year, better pitches with individual electric and hard standing.
It is within walking distance of Porthcawl, we cycled in one day but due to very changeable weather we decided to motor in as we could easily go on the Porthcawl car park. £3 a day.
We did get stuck in the mud on site but Alison’s husband came to the rescue and soon got us out. Look forward to seeing you next year. Please email us those plans Alison.

On reading the most recent review for this site we decided to 'take a chance' seeing that so many previous reviews were so negative.
However, we had a very positive experience, Mike and Alison are extremely helpful and friendly people. In the few months they have owned the site they have submitted plans in to rebuild a new toilet / shower block, campers washing-up place and laundry. Meanwhile they regularly clean the current facilities.
This site is in a lovely quiet location.
All the best to Alison and Mike!

Just returned from a week camping here with my two children and my nephew. This is our second visit to white wheat, its a quiet friendly site, which I like with young children as its easier to keep an eye on them. The new owners Allyson and Mike have only owned it for 10 weeks. They was very helpful as my car broke down on the second day there, Allyson got her husband Mike to come and help me get it started, nothing is to much trouble for them. If there's a problem they are there to sort it out. The site is being improved week by week. Good luck to you both on your new adventure. Ill be returning again end of August, with my children.

There was no one there to show us where to pitch-up, and no clear markings either. Waited ages for advice before setting-up.
The shower was OK. No toilet roll (nor even holder) in the loos. No warm water to wash hands after using the loo, nor soap, nor drying facility for hands.
The lady said it was basic (which we wanted), ie no frills, but it was actually not acceptable. In short, nothing like its description.

I stayed here last year and had already read the reviews regarding the state of the facilities ie Toilets etc. It turned out to be worse than I expected. Considering they have been promising to address this problem for a few years now it is a disgrace. Also tried to book up this August and they want £17. 50 per night and a minimum of 3 nights ! £52. 50 for 2 nights come on. This site should really be removed from this site as it is not doing UK Campsites any favours at all.

We visited this site for our first family camping trip. As newbees to camping, we were unsure what to expect. The toilets were very dirty, used materials on the floor, a lot of flies and smelt awful. It could do with a very good clean and/or refurb.
Location wise, it was great - close to the beach for the children. There were electric hook ups, but we weren't using these so unable to comment.
We didn't see the owner/warden throughout our stay. It wasn't clear where we should pitch our tent when we first arrived.
Only this morning when we took our tent down, did we realise that we had pitched on dog mess. There was a lot of this around the site, but this is obviously down to the other campers and not the site itself.

It is near to Porthcawl so a perfect area for visiting.
Its down a quiet lane so there is no noise.
We never saw the owners all weeknd.
The site itself is a small field with toilets and a shower.
The shower and toilets were dirty. They were neglected broken door etc. We stayed the one night though had booked for two. We left due to the state of the toilets and shower.
The pitches were not marked out. We had to move twice in order to find a hook up that worked.
I would not stay again which is a pity due to location however the toilets and showers let this site down greatly.

Nice quiet site mainly camper vans and caravans. \good price at £14 with electric hookup. Quiet site when we were there.
The only downfall which would stop me from returning was the toilet and shower block. It was very neglected and didn't seem to be cleaned regularly. I in fact could not bring myself to shower there.
Also several times felt like was wading through urine in the toilets. Apparently waiting for planning permission for a new block which would make it perfect.
Also there was nowhere to refreeze ice blocs as staying in a tent and not a caravan.
Did not see owners at all except on arrival to say hi but no discussions about site or facilities.

There is a real shortage of sites in this area and we rejected several of the big sites that didn't seem too inviting. This one was a small site down a short lane and its very much under developed.
The site is in the owners garden, plenty of space between pitches, ehu and water available. Toilets / showers need updating - yes they are still waiting for planning permission to update.
It was busy whilst we were there with another 7 units - but no real noise and the road is very quiet.
As a stop over would use it - not use would stay for too long if having to use the shower / toilets, then again a good clean would make them more than usable.

This is a small secluded site with plenty of tree shelter. We came for 4 nights and was hoping to extend for a further 4 nights but the site was booked. A bit noisy the first night as a lot of kids to a unit but the owner was not on site so was not controlled but apologised as soon as we saw him. Overall it is a base site for travelling during the day and using for sleeping at night as there is nothing there for kids but this is what we wanted. Trecco bay, sandy bay and Coney Beach is just a short walk or drive and with free parking on the roadside its excellent value. All amenities are there and plenty of site-seeing areas within a 20 mile radius.
Back on the site there is just one block with 1x male, 1x female toilet 1x shower cubicle and a chemical disposal unit, not the best but water was hot and did the job. They were kept clean but take your own toilet rolls! Never a queue though as most units are caravans. Speaking to the owner they are building new male/female toilet shower blocks when they find out about the barn on site.
Overall I would visit again as I'm not concerned about on site facilities and at £12 a night its great value. If you don't mind basic and want a base I would recommend.
