We weren't sure we were going to go here, despite booking, as weather had been so awful and most of the campsite was closed due to flooding. However we braved it and had a lovely week - the weather improved and the site dried out (a bit).
Pros - very quiet site (particularly whilst we were there), friendly manager, recycling on site and lovely location. Cons - the ladies showers dribbled down the wall rather than sprayed you and would probably be a bit overrun if the site were full.
We weren't that keen on Exmouth itself - very expensive to park (£1 per hour at all times)and Tourist Info is shut on a Sunday! However plenty to do in the area and we even made it to Eden Project one day.
Encourage your teenagers to consider going walking there and using the bunkhouse - Mary (manager) is under threat of closure by National Trust because although the campsite is very busy the bunkhouse is under-used.

Brilliant campsite! Lovely small campsite and very well maintained. Shop on site and freezer to put ice packs in (drinks were allowed as well). Our pitch area was large with electric hook up (tent).
Exmouth beach is close by. Couple of pubs within walking distance but roads in and out of campsite are one track country lanes (with pull ins) so beware!
Showers are solar powered and can get too hot sometimes and pressure was low. We asked to stay longer but they were booked up. Would book to go again.

This is my sixth year of holidaying at this delightful campsite, the first visit being with a tent and my faithful companion Suzie my Jack russell who sadly is no longer with us, but I now have another friend, Katie, also a jack russell.
We had a lovely time despite the terrible weather.
Mary and Frank were once again the perfect hosts with Frank lending me a pair of his wellingtons as I had forgotten my own.
The Clinton arms public house and the thatched house cafe at the end of the lane provide good meals at reasonable prices and Exmouth town centre has many decent cafes.
The beach is always popular and there are dog walking areas in the town and at the other end of the beach.
We intend another visit later in the year when we hope for better weather.

I must say I do not normally think about writing a review of a hotel, journey or campsite I have visited but the cleanliness and picturesque beauty of this well laid out site compelled me to do so. I was particularly impressed with the lush grass and the shower block would put a lot of hotels to shame. I only stayed for one night as I had to hit the road early the next morning, which did not give me the chance to complement the owner's on a fantastic campsite. If you are looking for peace, scenery, great facilities and a local village pub just a 5 minute walk up the road you have certainly hit the jackpot with this campsite. Many thanks to all at Prattshayes Farm.

Only spent the one night at this pleasant site. reached by negotiating a narrow lane which required me to back up to give tractors access to a nearby farm, OK with a motorhome but more inconvenient with a caravan.
The adjacent buildings accommodate a National Trust bunkhouse which was not occupied at our visit. The owner was friendly to talk to and the site fee was inexpensive.
Though slightly dated the facilities were clean and tidy.
The field itself slopes and this made levelling an issue which would not exist with a caravan. Some hook-ups but no hardstanding.

What a fantastic little place this was. Although a small site, the facilities (although a bit dated) were spotless, & very well looked after. The owners made you feel very welcome.
The site was well within reach of Exmouth town center & beach.
There was also a choice of shopping as a new Lidle had opened recently, so it was sometimes a better choice than Tesco's.
Because we had family at Exmouth, they were allowed to come & visit us in the evenings, which was lovely.
I will definitely going back again in the near future.

Lovely campsite, even in peak season. Clean toilet blocks and showers. Free hot water. Nice barbeque area.
Enough space for a big tent, a smaller one car and trailer.
15 min walk to the beach and cliffs. 5 min drive to the supermarket(Tesco, Lidl), laundry, and take a way. 20 min. Drive from Exeter Nice things to do, The Darts farm centre in Topsham! They have very nice food!
We stood at the lower part at the campsite, but after 4 days rain, it was not muddy at all!

What a little corker of a campsite. One field, which was well managed and never over booked. Nice little shop on sie for essentials and sweets for the kids to spend their pocket money on.
If eco stuff is important to you the the site ticks this box too. Great recycling facilities and a solar powered water heating system which provided hot water whenever we wanted it.
The beach is a 5 minute cycle ride away, and there's more than enough to keep the kids happy. A classic British seaside resort.
A la Ronde is a lovely National Trust property nearby, which has a children's activity day. But most importantly the best cream tea I have ever had. Out of this world!
In the words of Arnold Schwartzeneger, 'I'll be back'

Once more I had the pleasure of visiting this beautiful campsite with my constant companion, and best friend, my dog Katie who I am sure enjoys this campsite as much as I do.
The showers and toilets and indeed the washing up area are spotless as they are cleaned at regular intervals throughout the day, every day, by Mary and Frank.
A new feature this year are the lovely containers of flowers at the entrance to the campsite and the pots and hanging baskets of blooms at the washing up area and entrance to the showers and toilets, which brighten up the dullest of days.
The pitches are kept well trimmed as is the whole field and the surrounding hedges.
The beach is within walking distance and is very clean and the sea is perfect for swimming and other water activities.
There are lots of places to walk your dog especially the cliff top walk from Orcombe point, but I stress the need to keep your dog on a lead to prevent injury from falling from the clifftop.
The town centre of Exmouth is about two miles from the campsite and a bus stops at the end of Maer lane. All the usual features of a modern town centre are to be found there.
Once again I thank Mary and Frank for a perfect holiday and to The National Trust for providing the perfect destination.

A pleasant campsite in the countryside but close to Exmouth and a big Tesco. I'd agree with most of the points made in the other reviews, but the big negative for me was how close together many (but not all) of the pitches are.
We had a porch awning on our caravan, and had the pitch next to us been occupied by a caravan and awning, it would have been difficult to have fitted them side by side.
There was not enough room to put a car next to a caravan with awning. I estimate 3 metres between caravans at the most. It felt cramped
