Perfect basic campsite for campfire-cooked food. The farmer will bring logs to your tent, loads for £5.
Also a cafe-tent Travels With My Aunt for meals on Friday/Saturday in second camping area next to woods (great for kids to play in).
Would be ideal for groups of friends to visit together for a weekend. Loved seeing the fancy dress party and party games one group played at the other end of my field!
About 5 mins drive to Kimmeridge Bay - for spotting fossils, swimming and rock-pooling. Also close to Lulworth Cove and Corfe Castle.
Nearest supermarket in Wareham.

This site was really good. We were looking for a campsite in Dorset that would allow campfires. There are few and they all seem to be fully booked apart from this one.
It's a 20 min drive to the nearest shop to get supplies. 3-4 mile walk to Kemmeridge bay for rock pooling.
There is plenty of room for kids to run around and even a river for them to play in!
The farmer just said to turn up so no need to book. He comes around with wood every night.
The only thing this campsite hasn't got is a shower. So if you are serious about camping and can hold out without a shower for a few days then this is the campsite for you.
We had a fab few days there and I will be recommending it to all my camper buddies.

We have just got back from our very first visit and we had an amazing time, this was our first experience of a 'back to basic' campsite and we would definitely go back.
The children loved the stream and the rope swing and the nesting birds cheered up the basic toilet block.
The sheep chatting in the next field made us laugh and they stayed up later than we did.
Be prepared to do a lot of walking, we visited the bay at Tyneham it is a bit of a trek from the carpark but well worth a visit.
One more thing, don't forget your toilet rolls!

We have just returned from our first weekend at Steeple Leaze and I am sure it is going to become a regular haunt.
Very basic facilities - toilet and cold water only, but want more do you need - no emptying point for elsan loos though. Fire wood £5 a bag, adequate for one evening campfire.
Couldn't wish for a more relaxed environment, which is just as well after the steep hill climb over the ridge to and from Kimmeridge Bay. Don't miss a trip to Clavell's Cafe in Kimmeridge for great food at reasonable prices.

Just had a great few days at this site. Having read the reviews I was expecting something good and was not disappointed!
Facilities are fine - just what you need to keep the pretend campers away!
We enjoyed great walks - especially when the ranges were open - which was over the weekend. At other times there was some spectacular bangs from the firing range, but they stopped at dark and didn't start till 10:00am.
We thought it was a great site and we will certainly be back.

Visited this campsite with a group of about 9 of us. Couple of our group already knew another group who were also at the site. I have to say, despite other reviews, I absolutely loved it at this campsite! It is incredibly large with 3 fields so loads of space, our field was quite busy but not so that you felt you were all on top of each other, everyone I met was incredibly friendly and there is a good mix of families and groups of friends, a really lovely, relaxed vibe.
The facilities are basic but it is camping after all and it was all we needed, a loo and a tap, perfect! I found the toilet block a good place to socialise in the morning! (no, I'm not a weirdo!)
The region is gorgeous and lots of places very nearby to visit, Studland Beach, Corfe Castle, Tyneham Village, Lulworth Cove.To name but a few.
The evenings were best though, lovely campfires, great company, good craic, excellent food, music etc etc - will definitely go again and hope next time we don't have so much rain! I hasten to add the rain didn't spoil it but only added to the fun and camaraderie amongst all the campers. Great fun, highly recommend if you don't mind roughing it a wee bit for a few days.

Went here with my wife and two children for two nights. This was our first time camping and we had a fab time. The site has basic facilities but the setting is great. Build your own camp fire and toast marshmellows with the kids. Reasonable rates. £15 for the four of us and a fiver for logs which the farmer brings round. No pre-booking, just turn up and pitch. Said farmer will pop round and collect the money.
Kids enjoyed playing in the woods and on the rope swing. And there were fire jugglers outside the cafe tent on Sunday night. Brilliant!
I would recommend it to all.Camping how it should be !

It's a basic and informal campsite in a beautiful location in the Purbeck Hills, with wonderful beaches nearby. Toilet Block at farm and cold water sinks in field. You can take your pick of several fields - there are some flat bits. You can buy logs from the farmer for your own campfire and there is a very nice relaxed feel to the place with plenty of room.
The 'Travels with My Aunt World Cafe' usually present Fridays/Weekends serves up tasty quality food at a very reasonable price for Breakfasts, evening meals or anytime snacks.

Went here on a recommendation from a friend and was not disappointed. Beautiful setting, peaceful with lots of lovely places and beaches to explore. Went on a Friday and site fairly quiet and got busier on Saturday but not hectic. Lots of families and singing around the camp fire. Farmer, Julian, is really friendly and comes round selling logs. The toilet block is fine and gets regularly cleaned. It's well worth visiting the beaches at Studland. We enjoyed it so much we are heading back this weekend.
