Lovely little site. One of the very few sites in Snowdonia that's open all year.
I was the only person on site when I stayed (probably due to the weather and time of year!).
There had been heavy snow a few days before and the field was slightly boggy so the owner parked me at the entrance to the field as there was nobody else staying. He opened up the shower block and even lent a long hookup lead to reach the socket in the field.
Great value and really friendly people.
One thing to be careful of if you're in a big vehicle is the entrance between the farm buildings is quite narrow. My 6 berth motorhome fitted OK but if you're not a confident driver you may find it tricky.

This site is very clean, tidy, well maintained and quiet. The site is quite secluded with lovely relaxing views up and down the Conwy Valley, despite being next to the main A470 trunk road. There are two fields; the first is very flat and well drained whilst the second is currently not quite so level. The ground in the main field drains well and remains firm even when saturated. Entrance to the second field can get boggy with frequent rain. Toilets and showers always clean, whilst the site may benefit with an increase in these facilities we never had a problem with queuing. Showers are worth their 20p per 2 minutes. A washing up area is also provided with two sinks, fridge & freezer free to use. My children (12 & 10) enjoyed the wide open space in the middle and voted this their favourite site so far. The owners farm free-range chickens which along with a few ducks spread out across the site much to the joy of smaller (and not so small) children. Not to be missed are the weekend breakfast served in the converted barn cafe, very good quality food. There are very good transport links to the north coast, Snowdonia and further afield. Regular reasonably priced bus services stop just next to the farm. It is possible to walk along a tarmaced path into nearby Llanwrst. It is also possible to walk into Betws-y-Coed, although this does involve grass verge walking along a busy main road until the public footpath shortcut across the river by a suspension bridge.
If you are looking for a tranquil and friendly site at a reasonable cost, this it. Would we go again? Yes!

We went this site on august bank holiday and we appreciate that it had been raining but when it was not raining the site never drained, Not such a problem if your in a caravan but in a tent it was. There is only one male toilet. We paid £90-00 for tent and 5 people for 3 nights and we had to pay on top to have a shower and they were luke warm. Where people were pitched was disorganised, units were close together. The bins were over flowing with rubbish. Their were free range chickens and ducks which was nice to see but when you come out of your tent we were greeted with duck and chicken poo not so nice.
The area is fantastic. The views are fantastic from the site the site just needs to improve its facilities although what was their was cleanish there is just not enough of them.

I was encouraged by the fact that there are no negative reviews at all on this site, and we weren't disappointed.
The site is clean and very well maintained, with clean toilet blocks and washing up facilities. The bins behind the cafe could have done with emptying more frequently as they were overflowing, but a line of wheelie bins appeared overnight to cope with the excess rubbish. The site was about half full but the size of the field meant nobody was on top of anyone else. Be warned though, the adult prices are £6 per night not £5 as advertised on their website.
We will definitely be using this site again, as Riverside down the road seems to be exclusively booked by old couples with yappy dogs!

A friendly greeting and quick tour of the toilets when we arrived, followed by the instruction to pitch were we want.
A few small bits were cordoned off to allow the land to recover from wet weather.
The tent field had a few sloping bits but we found a decent pitch. The midges soon found us, but they weren't as bad as a number of other sites in the area. Ducks & Chickens wandered around the site at will.
The toilets were spotlessly clean at all times and the shower was especially good, well worth the £1 per 10 minutes.
More toilets needed, even portaloos to cover the busy period would have helped. I only had to queue once, but became adept at waking early to beat the rush.
The gravel track through the site saw my car bottoming out at times, I couldn't have the family in the car. The bridge onto the tent field had a tight turn that made things close. An A6 Estate is a big car, but not unusually so.
The pitch where you want ethos is good, but a small bit of guidance might not go amiss. I saw one family almost entirely boxed in by a party of 12. Another party pitched a bit close to another tent and the management had to intervene. Perhaps a guidance/rules board up by the toilets, asking for considerate pitching and a noise curfew, might be a good idea.
All in all, a nice quiet site, far enough out of town to feel some solitude, but close enough to Betws y Coed for supplies and the Llanberis & Ogwen passes for adventure.
We'll probably be back.

We chose this site for a weekend away having struggled to find suitable sites in the North West/North Wales area that would accommodate male groups. Most sites seem to rule out single sex parties straight away (and I understand why) but as Snowdonia accommodates walking groups and those undertaking similar outdoor activities we managed to find some sites in this area and went for Hafod. The site pretty much served its purpose for the weekend; it certainly has a good scenic backdrop, the fields are kept tidy and it is quiet and peaceful. The main field is more level and has the EHUs, the second field is less level (but manageable) and is used more by groups. Cost was a reasonable £6 per person per night (although it does state £5 on their web site). Toilets and basins were clean but there is only one shower in the men's and this seems to have some plumbing problems as it was frequently unusable during our stay due to the shower tray being full or overflowing with undrained water. Breakfast is available at the weekend served by the owners in the very pleasantly converted barn at reception. It was certainly busy and food is of a very good quality and decent value; drinks are not included and are quite expensive (I noticed the orange juice priced at £1.50 per glass was basic stuff poured from a carton bearing a 69p per litre sticker).
There is nothing within immediate vicinity and towards Betws-y-Coed there is no pathway, purely grass verge. Realistically you need to use transport to get anywhere off site. This wasn't a problem to us but if you wanted a trip to a pub on an evening you would have to walk back and would need to exercise care as the road is constantly busy. The nearest thing to site is Treetop Adventure which is a rope and obstacle course through the forest. It is certainly not for those afraid of heights and requires a degree of fitness; I somehow managed to get round in one piece. We also received a 10% discount through staying at Hafod.
Whilst I would certainly return for a group based weekend I'm not sure I would make a family trip here. As they charge per head (excluding babies and toddlers) the cost for a family of four with EHU goes beyond £20 per night, which I think is too much for a site lacking any real family facilities (there is the centre of the field to play in, but no actual play area, or anything child focussed).
Setting aside the cost for a family stay, for anyone looking for a scenic site to explore Snowdon and North Wales the site is a good base for either relaxing at, or visiting the many attractions of the area.

This is a great site run by joanne and pete, they are very friendly and very helpful, I spent five nights on the site and had a great time. The site is on a slight incline with some flat areas.
The site has a toilet block that is basic but very clean. There is one shower in the gents toilet and two in the ladies, twenty pence gets you two minutes of hot water.
There is a washing machine and a tumble dryer in the ladies toilet.
There is use of a fridge and freezer in the washing up area.
The site has electric hook up and fresh water taps around the field.
The site is set at the head of the valley in quiet surroundings with the valley sides being covered in trees. There is a garage about a mile down the road selling gas and provisions. Llanwrst and betsw y coed are only a short drive away and are well stocked with shops.
Llandudno is about a twenty minute drive away so the sea is with in easy reach. The site is ideally placed for snowdonia
There are also cycling routes in the area for the accomplished cyclist, ask pete for more details as he is very keen on cycling, many of the routes are off road and helmets are advisable.
To top it all off at weekends the tall barn is open for great breakfasts at a reasonable rate.

Our second visit to this lovely site, the owners have made some improvements from last year, the washing up facilities are very good, the use of a fridge and freezer is brilliant, and an extra shower in the ladies, we had a great week and were very lucky with the weather, we will be returning next year! The site is a great base for exploring llanrwst and also Bets y Coed, it has a relaxed feel about it and the kids love exploring in the woods, they weren't bothered about not having a playground, they made there own fun, which is what camping is all about.
In Llanwrst there is a somerfield which sells everything you might need. The only problem we found was coming out of the ladies, directly onto the drive into the field, people did not adhere to the 5mph, and then tutted at you when you stepped out, with lots of small children about that was sometimes a problem. Other than that I would recommend the site to anyone.

Fantastic site, situated in the foot of the valley. Really good facilities, and the owner is very friendly.
Relaxed, although dogs are requested to be on leads, and a case of 'pitch where you like' which can be a bit chaotic when busy.
This was our second time there, and it seems they have now opened a second field at the bottom, although this has no hook up.
1 shower in the mens, and 1 cubicle toilet, along with urinals, so be prepared to wait at busy times.
We will be visiting regularly, as the are is fantastic, and we enjoy the site.

Just come back from a nights stay at Hafod Campsite. We could only stay the one night but found the site very clean and tidy, location is fantastic regards local towns and Snowdon (which is what we went for, god it was a long walk but myself my wife and our 8yr old son made it to the top!).
The folks who run the site are very friendly and helpful and even though it was busy we still managed to find a decent pitch for our frame tent. The only thing I have to complain about was the cold baked beans at breakfast the following morning! (not everything can be perfect!).
All in all would definitely go back if we were going to that area again.
