We stayed at the site for three nights and had a very pleasant stay as the weather was excellent.
The owners of the site are very pleasant, however the breakfast they offer in the very nice converted barn can take some time. The location and setting is good, some limited road noise from A road. The toilet facilities are nice and clean, however the mens have one toilet two urinals and one shower which is quite limited as when we stayed there must have been more than 40 parties staying at the site.

We stayed at Hafod Farm for one night, due to it's close proximity to the Marin Trail (mountain bike trail in the hills over Llanrwst and Betws-Y-Coed). Upon arrival, we were greeted by Pete and Jo the owners who, as as keen riders themselves, immediately fell into conversation about the trail we were going to ride and other trails in the immediate area.

We were shown to our pitch after the facilities were pointed out to us and after pitching our tent we had a quick look around. After reading several other reviews on this website, I was not surprised to find that the site was in impressive order, with the camping field very dry even though there had been torrential rain for a few days before. There were a number of electric hook-ups for use (we didn't bother)

The shower/toilet block was very clean and tidy (men's 20p for 2 mins, women's free) and there was even a fridge/freezer for food storage. A tumble drier and hairdryer in the ladies block was also a good and useful touch.

The only negative point was the lack of a play area for children, although the working farm atmosphere (plenty of chickens running around) and the space provided in the site would prove enough for even the most energetic and curious youngster.

In the morning we were treated to a very reasonably priced full welsh breakfast in the lovely reception/kitchen barn, which was full of art designed by Jo and crafted by Pete, which kept the barn in line with it's previous use as an arts and craft centre.

We found this site to be idea for the purpose that we used it for due to the amount of excellent riding in the area and also the use of Pete's workshop as a lockup for the bikes overnight.

We are looking forward to returning to the site to take Pete up on his offer of being a guide to more wild riding on trails less marked on the map.

Highly recommended for mountain bikers but also a good well placed family site for close access to Betws-y-coed and Llanrwst without being in the towns themselves.

We stayed at Hafod Farm for a week just after Easter and we thought it was lovely. Before we booked here we tried booking in to Riverside Caravan Park in Betws y Coed but it was full. It was a real countryside campsite and the owners very friendly. My parents stayed in a BanB down the road but came to visit us at the campsite and said how lovely it was too. The facilities were more than adequate while we were there as it wasn't very busy. The ladies shower was lovely but my husband had trouble getting the mens shower to the right temperature, and he had to pay for his but the ladies was free which was a little strange. Everything was kept clean and tidy and the ground was nice and level.

The campsite has pet chickens and pigs which adds to the country feel, as well as the sheep in the neighbouring field. It is very dog friendly, and it seemed very child friendly as long as they can entertain themselves as there is no play area. All in all a fantastic site and we will be returning!

Betws Y Coed is a lovely little town with plenty of gorgeous walks starting there, and a variety of pubs and restaurants, also no end of outdoor shops! Llandudno is about a half hour drive from Hafod farm and is a gorgeous town, and a trip up the Great Orme on the cable car is highly recommended!

There is so much to see and do a week wasn't really enough!

We have just returned from a 3 night bank holiday stay and can honestly say it was fantastic.

The location was beautiful, the site was clean and very well maintained. The couple who run the place are lovely, genuine people who clearly take pride in ensuring the grounds are kept in first class condition.

Prices are very competitive and is value for money. Two toilet's and two showers for the ladies can sometimes be a little busy but not a major problem. The shower's operate on twenty pence pieces - 20p = 2 minutes. There is also a fridge and freezer for the campers to use. The free washing machine, tumble dyer and hairdryer in the ladies is also a nice touch.

We had a tent pitch with electric and had no problems, we were right next to the field with the sheep in and loved it :)

There were also fresh eggs available to buy on site, although we did not purchase any as we had already bought ours from home.

There is a Spar, Somerfield, takeaways and pubs just 1 mile down the road. With Llandudno just 15 miles away it was easy to take a trip to the shops there and the sea.

Overall, this place was brilliant, we were not overcrowded and felt totally relaxed here. Highly recommended. We will certainly be going back!

Hi my review comes from an able special needs group avenue.

Firstly I would like to say that Joanne and Pete are about the most honest and helpful camp site owners I've met in the snowdonia area and I've been a monthly visitor to the mountain range now for over 15 years. It was extremely wet for our week long visit and needless to say the ground was struggling with all the water too.

Pete went out of his way to help and accommodate us in setting up our 12x12 tent, dinning shelter and seven 2 man tents. Every day they both smiled and engaged all in conversation, including our special clients, they even went out of their way and helped sort out accommodation for our night man who needed a day time b & b.

The area is great if you're a beginner or a keen outdoor enthusiast, Betws Y Coed is within easy cycling distance back down the A470 and Llandudno is even easier to get to up the A470 for families as there is a cycle lane near completion.

As far as driving goes, you have to drive or bus to get anywhere anyway, so I believe Haford Farm is great place to set up site.

Joanne and Pete told me that they value space for kids to play over packing groups in. This was very apparent by the amount of open field and kids playing. We were on the group/overflow field wear we were allowed to have a fire

There is only one shower for each sex which I can see being a possible problem but every time our kids needed a shower in the evening there was no queuing.

A couple of fridges and freezers are available for free for campers too, which makes life easier

My group enjoyed their week away and mentioned that it was nice to have space to play and relax. Quite a statement from inner city kids.

Very good rates and service through out. Many thanks

Our review is based on a two-night bank holiday stay at Hafod Farm campsite. It was probably one of the wettest weekends, so weather-wise, pretty grim! On arrival, a lack of sign-posts left us a bit unsure as to who we should be talking to regarding our booking. Eventually, we found the owner and she showed us where to pitch, but explained that we couldn't keep our car with us because of the mud. Fair play, the entrance to the camping field was quite horrendous due to excessive amounts of rain so there wasn't much that could be done other than to keep vehicle access to a minimum. The wc/shower blocks were basic, but kept clean despite the number of people and the mud. The showers were £1 for ten minutes, which is a nice long time, but can lead to queues when lots of people are 'getting their monies worth'! The free hairdryer and tumble dryer in the ladies is a welcome touch, but the gents had no such luxuries! The area surrounding the campsite is all trees and mountains, (when it's not covered in fog!), and lovely and peaceful, (despite Betws-y-Coed being very busy at peak season). It was just a shame that the bank holiday brought some not-so-peaceful campers with it! However, all said, a good basic site, which would benefit from having bigger/better facilities to cater for the masses, (and a few extra signs would be helpful!)

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at Hafod Farm campsite. The campsite is directly off the A470 and is situated just round a bend, so on our first attempt to arrive we shot passed the entrance and had to turn around. We parked in the entrance to the field and went to find the owner but after 5 mins she found us (we later found out that the office is a static caravan to the left of the entrance). The owner told us we could pitch anywhere on the right hand side of the field (which is where the EHU's were). We had a nice pitch which was level and well drained as indeed all the pitches seemed to be, which was a relief as there was much rain in the time we stayed there. The view is fantastic. You are simply looking on almost 180 degrees of beautiful mountains covered in green, green trees. The pitches are all to the oustide edge of the field and the centre is used for children to play games on and our children really enjoyed having so much space, it was a really nice atmosphere when in the evenings all the children were outside playing games. There is a second field which could also be used as a playing field when empty, but when we stayed there were numerous occasions when it was in use. The toilets, which are near the entrance to the field, consists of 2 toilets in the ladies and 1 in the mens. They were clean and modern and always had toilet rolls, soap, and tissue hand towels in them. There is also a small tumble drier and hair-drier which are both free to use. The 1 shower (1 in women's and 1 in men's) was a total nightmare to use. It costs £1 for 10 mins and on the first attempt it took me 4 mins to get the temp. Luke warm, on the second attempt the shower went from hot to cold and on the third and my final attempt the clip to hold the shower head has been broken and I had to hold the shower and wash at the same time - not easy. I was very pleased when I knew I wouldn't have to use the shower again! The drinking water tap is situated near the toilets as too are the rubbish bins. There is a large room which has a freezer for campers use to freeze ice-blocks etc. And a nice big sink to do the washing-up in.

One very big attraction to this site is the chickens! They are real characters and the lady owner told my children that they could feed them with any scraps of bread, fruit and veg and so of course my children loved to feed them. They are just so funny when they are half running, half flapping their way towards you for whatever you have to offer them, one nearly came into our awning and my children were in hysterics! We had a few surprises from the low flying, very fast, very noisy jets that flew over almost on a daily basis - WOWEEE! Apart from the jets Hafod Farm is a mostly peaceful site with just a small amount of road noise and sometimes some very noisy baaing from the sheep in the next field.

Days out to recommend are:

Betws-y-Coed - great shops for tourists and a lovely walk along the river. Swallow Falls (£1 to get through turnstile)

Llanwrst - pretty town, great fish and chips.

Lechwedd Slate Caverns - very interesting and informative day out.

Piggery Pottery near Llanberis - go on a rainy day, keeps the children entertained for hours!

Llandudno - we could have spent a week just going back there day after day, so much to do and see. Try climbing the Great Orme, spectacular views, nice cafe (but expensive) at the summit and fantastic information centre. There is also a great play area for the kids and crazy golf at the summit. Half way down are the Bronze Age Copper Mines which are 4,000 years old and further down still the Great Orme is the Ski Centre. My kids loved it there. You can have a go at Toboggoning, Skiing or slide down on a giant inflatable ring - great fun.

If you don't want to walk up the Great Orme you could always drive to the summit, take the tram or cable car. If you decide to go by cable car you may as well purchase the return ticket as it is only 50p extra per person for the return journey on top of the single journey price. Views from the cable car are so beautiful that we went on it twice! Don't go on a windy day or very wet day as they probably won't be running.

Colwyn Bay Welsh Mountain Zoo (you can use your Tesco Clubcard vouchers for this) this is a really lovely zoo with some very unusual animals for a zoo, for instance, bears, alligators, giant tortoises, peguins and sealions.

We had a great holiday in North Wales and Hafod Farm is in an ideal location for exploring Snowdonia.

The views were beautiful, even in the rain!

The owners and staff were friendly and helpful and worked hard to help and to keep the site looking clean and tidy in spite of heavy rain.

The washing up facilities were clean and pleasant and there was a free fridge and freezer for campers. There was also a free hairdryer and tumble drier in the ladies.

There is currently only 1 shower and 2 toilets for each sex. These were very clean, but it can mean queues for both.

Upon arrival we couldn't find anyone around to ask if they had space, where we could pitch etc etc. A fellow camper advised us that the owner was usually around somewhere.Shortly the owner (male) came over and told us that they had room and advised us where to pitch. He didn't tell us where the facilities were or where the reception/office was.

The pitches were all level and well kept and the owner was constantly trying to maintain the drive into the field (very boggy due to atrocious weather)despite the almost constant rain.

We spotted the toilet/shower block and the utility block, but still had no idea where the reception was, it wasn't signposted (well badly if it was).

The large building on the right hand side of the drive, was, we assumed the coffee shop (as it had a coffee advertising A-board outside)but during our 4 day stay it was not open at all.

On our first morning, the owner approached us and asked if we had paid, we tried to explain that we hadn't seen anyone to pay and didn't know where reception was, but her response was quite kurt and she told us to pay upfront for the length of time we were staying - we immediately paid for 3 nights, though this is something you're not always sure of given adverse weather conditions!

The toilets were spotless clean, and though early morning there was no toilet roll (approx 7.30am)it was regularly replenished throughout the day. The shower was very clean too, but was blocked and overflowing when we used it, so we had to keep all items off the whole of the shower room floor. There was one chair to put towels, toiletries and clothes on.A shelf and a few hooks may have been useful.

The reception is a caravan at the top end of the camping field (a fellow camper told us this too).

The site itself if about half way between Betws-Y-Coed and Llanwrst, and in quite a good spot, though walking to either was difficult as the road that links the two is very busy.

We have stayed at this lovely family run campsite twice in May and more recently in July for my birthday and will definitely be returning back.

A lovely big open field with hook up and a play area in the middle for the children to have fun and enjoy themselves.

There is a cafe on site which serves the most delicious apple and toffee cake but also for those who don't want the hassle of cooking in the morning can have a big slap up breakfast in the cafe. The toilet and shower facilities are clean, there is one shower and 2 loos in the ladies which did not seem a problem when we went on a very busy weekend of the 24th July 2008. I know there are plans to build more loos and showers on an adjoining field. Sheltered washing up facilities with hot water and a real big bonus is that you have the use of the fridge/freezer which really was handy on this very hot weekend.

A lovely family who will help out with any problems you may have and are very accommodating and friendly. Dogs are welcome provided they are kept on a lead and any mess is cleaned up!

The views are wonderful and there are picnic tables which is very handy as this helps with not having to pack additional tables for those who are tenting. A real little gem of a campsite in a lovely location and wonderful owners.
