A busy site which is extremely handy for the M5 - although we stayed 3 nights this time as we were working in the area, we are very likely to use it again as a stopover on longer journeys.
The facilities block is excellent - loads of showers and toilets and also (I like these!) separate sink cubicles. The charity book stand was another nice feature - it's always handy to be able to find something else to read! I would have liked to have clothes-washing facilities (unless I just didn't find them. !)
The site is a little soul-less at present, but it is still quite new; trees and bushes have been planted to landscape the pitches a bit and that will improve the set-up over time. It is a well-thought out site which is good value for money.

Despite the site not really being open for tents yet because of the weather I was made to feel really welcome. It is on a main road and near the motorway but I heard no traffic.
I took my bike and it was a nice ride into Stroud down by the canal and I thoroughly enjoyed my two night stay.
All the pitches looked very level and they even let me pitch my tent between two caravans to protect me from the wind a bit !
The facilities were really clean and well looked after and the site was very quiet.
I would not hesitate to go back there again.

This is our third visit to this beautiful relaxing site. The access is very easy with large entrance from the A38. In a perfect location for visiting the Stroud valleys, Cheltenham, Gloucester and the Forest of dean, for the birdwatchers you have Slimbridge Wetlands Trust just a 10 minute drive away.
The site itself has very spacious pitches with easy access to water points etc. Pitches are mixture of grass and hard-standing all with electric hook up with extra hard-standing pitches being added at the moment. At the reception there is a small area selling the usual essentials and there are several shops in both directions.
There are a few pubs to choose from in the area the nearest being the Fromebridge mill around a 15 minute walk or if you fancy a takeaway then a 2 minute drive.
As mentioned on previous reviews there is no play area for younger children but there is plenty of space for younger ones to play and lots to do in the area.
The shower and toilet block is first class and probably the best we have seen on our travels, it is always kept clean and fully stocked and the underfloor heating is a nice touch.
But the first thing you will notice if you visit is the warm welcome from Jenny, she will provide you with all the information about local attractions, walks and places to eat.
Makes you feel very welcome.

Spent a week here with four of our children. We've been camping for 13 years and this was the most welcoming place we've stayed.
The new shower block is amazing and clean. Big showers, with separating curtain and a stool in each cubicle big enough for me to shower off our two smalls and myself too. Kept very clean with separate cubicles for wash only and the loo's fully stocked too.
A small on-site shop for pure essentials but a Spar in the village (5 mins drive). The local pub was recently taken over but the food was lovely and not too expensive.
Would recommend going to Puzzle Wood from here but take your own food!
Would definitely recommend the site and plan to go back.

Fantastic site
Lovely warm welcome from Jenny who provided information about the local area with maps and suggestions of walks and cycle routes.
Facilities
Toilet/shower block the best I have ever used.
Very clean all the time, no queues, showers hot and free (needed to keep pressing the button, but as they were free this was not a hardship).
Two washing up sinks under cover.
Didn't use the freezer so unable to comment.
Small downsides
Slight noise from motorway (although this bothered husband more than me and I am the lighter sleeper!)
No washing machine despite the size of shower block (I wouldn't normally want a washing machine so do not think about them, however this time one was needed). Leaflet provided by Jenny does give address of laundrette.
No playground but plenty of space to run and cycle around.
Things to do
Husband persuaded me and two kids age 7 and 9 to bike on canal from Frampton on Severn ended up being a 15 mile round trip thankfully for us it was flat.
Gloucester- caught park and ride into centre.
Very handy for motorway we used it as a stop over
Only stayed for 2 days would definitely return.

Just spent a 3 might stay in our 8 man tent with 2 families of 4. Absolutely brilliant campsite. The new shower/ toilet blocks were the best I have ever used, and we were made so welcome by the owners who have worked really hard to get the site to a very high standard.
It was nice to go to a site where everyone was friendly and helpful, and accepted children to be children, they could run around on the open area and have what I would call real unhindered fun. Like in the old days.
Would highly recommend Appletree Park to anyone.
It was easy to find and very well situated. A real away from the hustle and bustle of life site.
Again thankyou. And see you soon x

We only stayed overnight at the end of a road trip but would have loved to have stayed longer. The site is set in beautiful grounds with lots of space away from the camping area for children to play without disturbing anyone.
The site is kept very clean with area's provided for washing up and recycling. The shower block was immaculate with plenty of toilets, showers and sink cubicles.
The owners are very friendly and directed us where we could get take away food just a short distance away. They also sold branded ice creams for 50p which was a hit with the kids!
Would definitely stay again!

Easy to find, and well marked pitches - shower block excellent, clean and liked the idea of the books for sale for charity.
Friendly and very helpful staff, Jenny had printed off a lovely walk to Frampton for us - we did get lost, but then we always do! So we do need to make a return visit to do the walk again!
Less than 20 mins walk to the Fromebridge Mill pub - good food and cider!
No play area (didn't bother us) and not much room for kids to play, but a well organised site - we would return. Road noise didn't bother us townies! Was nice to know we could leave the car and go for walks from the site.

What can I say that will sum up this site in one word?
Great,
Fantasic,
Brilliant even.
We used this site as a stop over on our way to Cornwall and to be honest I wish we'd stopped here instead of going on to the next one. The lady in the reception was lovely.
The site has a really nice view of the country side and its within a sling shot of the motorway. However the site was peaceful and quiet though.
The showers were lovely and roomy. There was free hair drier in there too. There was plenty of water points. The site itself was being upgraded when we were there and all I can say is if there toilet block is anything to go by then when they have finished this site will be A1!
I will definaty be considering here again if we come this way.

Excellent site as mentioned before if looking for easy access from the M5 (situated just off J13) to use as a stop-over as we did recently on our way to and back from Wales.
Some of the best toilet/shower/wash-up facilities we have come across on our travels and extremely friendly and helpful staff. There is a combination of hard-standing and grass pitches of generous size and for security a number pad entrance and exit barrier.
We ate on both visits at the nearby Fromebridge Mill offering two meals for just under £10 and these were excellent value for money.
I did pick up some leaflets before I left to pass on to friends and family and even passed one on to a gentleman we parked next to in one of the Services on the way home!
Can't comment on surrounding area as I said before we only used as a one night stop-over but will definitely be coming back here for a longer visit. Well done.
