Just spent 3 nights at conifer lakes and what a fantastic little site. The warden was there to meet you and show you the pitches that are available and he is very friendly and approachable. Site is brilliant and clean with a nice walk round the fishing lake which is well kept. Toilet block is spotless and warm with plenty of hot water. There is a pub within walking distance(10 minutes)good beer and food to match, Saturday night I think it was the wardens nephew came with his guitar and we all took are own beer and chairs to a marque cause it was raining and he played and sang for about 2 hours what a great night all had. Do not want to recommend it to any one so there will be room for when we go back.

We visited this site for the first time in March
Its a lovely site with lots of interesting little nooks.
Plenty of fishing pegs and there is a lovely walk around the lake. The pub is 10 minutes walk through the wood-take a torch for when coming back if its dark. The pub is friendly and serves a great ploughman's platter ample for two sharing.
The toilets/shower -leave them as you find them spotless- the owners and the wardens are friendly and sociable and are willing to help if required. We have booked again for June and are really looking forward to it, hope the weather is as good as the site and no doubt again we will have a great time

OK I'm not going to do the usual great Wardens clean loos thing I just want you to know that we have just returned from a really fantastic four days on this lovely site. I arrived feeling like my neck had disappeared and my shoulders were up around my ears. Tired and stressed don't begin to describe how I was feeling. Yes I know we have been exceptionally lucky with the weather but I can honestly say this site is a little haven, we literally felt all the tension melt away. Read all the other reviews for the details. And as for the Wardens(well owners actually), they were friendly but unobstrusive and as someone who is very picky about the loo situation - they were immaculate, sorry it had to be said! Thanks Graham and Alison we'll be back soon. Jane and Frank

We initially found it quite difficult to find the site as it is off the beaten track, but what a revelation when we did!
This is a wonderful location set around an old estate lake with mature trees and lots of wildlife. The owners were extremely welcoming and friendly.
We had originally asked for a hard stand with hookup but the ground is very firm and we were able to take our motorhome on to the grass without any worries.
The site itself is beautifully laid out by the owners, very clean and with lots of flowers. There are also some quirky touches designed to make you smile.
The toilet block is spotless and well laid out with all facilities. We were not used to the system of using cards in the electric hookup, and ran out of electricity in the middle of a very cold and frosty night!
The system works but I would rather have paid for what I used at the end of our stay. This is just a minor point in what was a wonderful stay. The fishing is out of this world.
The lake is very well stocked and in beautiful surroundings. What more could an angler want? We shall return. Highly recommended.

Sorry, another 'how wonderful is this place?' review, throughout our 20+ years of camping/motorhome touring this has to the the best ever site we have visited (both in the UK and abroad) No being pushed around, no waiting for a lukewarm slot machine showers. The surroundings are just idyllic the owners are the most friendly and helpful you could wish to find. Hubby loves the fishing (owners even happy to advise/help of needed) Fabulous wildlife encouraged and cared for by owners. Toilets and showers equal and better than many top London hotels Wish I could buy shares in this site, you will have to hurry and get booked, this place is going to be 100% full really soon as everyone you meet there never just visits once, everyone returns here. Negative points- hmmm it was cold in January but I'm sure the owners would make that right if they could. Not even sure I should submit this review in case we can't get on next time we visit !

Oh what a piece of heaven couldn't fault the place it is so peaceful with lovely lake views and great fishing.
The site has excellent facilities the toilets are spotless the showers have free hot running water heating is just been added to the toilet block for the following winter months.
There's ample of hot water for dish washing with the added touch of free washing up liquid.
We couldn't believe the hospitality of the owners who take customer care and satisfaction to the next level they now have many return guests so I suggest booking early as this is a small secluded site which is becoming very popular.
The site is open 12 months so we look forward to using it over the winter months and the cozy cabins on site are fab for maybe you tent users over the winter period when you want something a bit more warm and snug.
We cant wait to return to this site there's something very special about the place you wont want to leave once you get there we certainly didn't.

Just got back from Conifer lakes, all I can say it was brilliant! Showers and toilet facilities were very clean. Fishing was great even though I did not take part.
I would recommend to anyone to visit this site, owners are extremely friendly they cannot do enough for you to make your stay enjoyable. Fantastic 2 nights will be going back.
Local pub only minutes away, great food. After speaking to other campers they go back again and again! Perfect site.
You do not have to be off site early the day you go home, which does not happen a lot on most sites, they like you off at 10. 00am or before midday.

A very pretty site situated around an old estate lake which has good fishing and interesting walks. Graham and Sandra, the owners, are very friendly.
The site facilities are good but limited with only 3 shower cubicles. OK for us as there were only 4 touring units on site but if full this would be a problem. The chemical disposal was good but there was not a suitable point for draining waste water from a campervan tank.
The fishing was good but very frustrating due to the vast amount of lilies. 15 mins walk away the Plough pub served a good Sunday lunch at reasonable price.
Would I go back ? Unlikely due to the price, £22 inc electricity at the end of September, as you can get better facilities at lower prices.

Graham & Allison are two of the friendliest people I have ever met and insist on greeting everyone on arrival, Graham will even park your caravan for you (if like me you are a bit bad at reversing)
The site is amazing, it is kept immaculate and is so quiet you can hear a pin drop.
The toilets and showers are kept very clean and require a pin number to enter which Graham will give you on arrival. They are very spacious and resemble a Swedish sauna with all the wood, they are attended to on a regular basis.
Having used the site on several occasions I can honestly say I would have to go a long way to find one as friendly and peaceful as this
One as a fisherman myself this is heaven, the lake is so easy to get around with loads of pegs, the only thing you have to decide on is where is best to fish and that's easy, anywhere!
It has approx 4ft of water and 3 and a half foot of fish, don't be fooled though, the fish here are not stupid. Graham has a bait shop selling pellets and maggots (ask if he has any when you book), landing nets are supplied by the site and keep nets are supplied if you are lucky enough to go when there is a match on, which is a site match, however if you decide you don't want to fish the match, that's not a problem there are always loads of spare pegs open to pleasure anglers.
If you fancy a night out and don't want to drive the local pub is only ten minutes walk away, if you ask Graham or Allison for a key to the gate it costs £5 which is returned when you hand it back, well worth it if you want to leave the car on site.
The local area is full of things to do, it is not far from the local gliding club at pocklington and not far from the city of york and also if you are a golfer then conifer lake is ideal, another 40ft and you will have your caravan on one of the greens as it is very close to allerthorpe golf club.
Electric hookups are easy, simply ask for as much electric as you want, you will be given a card that you insert into your hookup. For a two night stay I have never gone over £2, amazing value
In fact I have always found the whole site value for money, try it yourself, but my advice is book early as getting a pitch can be difficult due to the amount of people that come back time and time again

Just spent 2 very pleasant days at this site and was impressed by the level of service here.
The site facilities were modest, three shower cublicals only but they were very clean with lots of hot water and good showers so there probably didn't need to be any more with the number of people on site while we were there. I would think there were only about 12 people on site midweek.
It's based at a fishing spot but even though we don't fish it makes for nice walks around the wooded area.
The grass was well cut and the earth nice and smooth for tents.
There is a pub which does food about a 15 minute walk away but I didn't find a shop within walking distance so you need to take all that you need or drive for anything you might have forgotten.
I've marked it down slightly because the view although pleasant wasn't perfect, I would have preferred seeing the water from the pitch but then very few things in life are perfect.
Have put 1 out of 10 for child friendliness but that's because it's listed as an adult site which was perfect for us so perhaps I should have given it 10!
All in all a lovely site and we will definitely be staying there again next year.
