Just back home from 4 nights at Conifer Lake and can't praise it highly enough. The site is beautifully kept with flowers and seats by a pond. The showers/toilets are individual pods and are the best we've encountered! Very clean too and always nice handwash available. We walked round the lake a couple of times to walk off dinner and it was great to have somewhere peaceful and pretty right on the doorstep. The Plough Inn was 10 minutes walk away along a path by the lake then a quiet lane which is handy if you don't want to cook. Graham and Allison were very welcoming and should be proud of the site as they obviously work hard to make it such a lovely place to stay. We'll definitely be back!

If you follow the Sat Nav and use the post code provided by the owners you should find the site no problem. It is in the middle of nowhere apart from the fact that it is surrounded by the golf course, and you could see the golfers trundling past with their trolleys but they did not interfere with the site.
The lake is very pretty, we were there with friends as the guys like to fish. What we didn't realise is that there is a match every Saturday so this took up quite a lot of the pegs, however they did manage to locate a peg but the fishing was quite poor, they ended up going off site to fish the following day.
The grounds are lovely although we would worry a little, given that it is open all year round, that the touring pitches are grass only, it rained when we were there and it became very boggy, it did dry up once the sun shone though.
The shower block is not very good, it really is not of adequate size for the amount of people on the site. There are some seasonal caravans, a possible 10 ish other tourers and plenty of room for tents yet only one gents and one ladies toilet and shower.
The toilet is in with the shower so if it were busy with someone having a shower (which obviously is fine) then you had to wait ages for the toilet. We stayed 3 nights and each time my husband went to use the gents it was so dirty he ended up using the toilet and shower in our caravan. Paper towels would be better than a towel for drying your hands.
We really think the toilets were this way because the site was very full and too many people using the facilities, not everyone respects the facilities and this is not the owners fault. This could be resolved though if additional facilities were built and there were spot checks on them. I think the owners plan to do this.
We think this site is a bit expensive for what it is compared to others we have stayed at with electricity included and no charge for dogs.

Just returned from a two night stay at Conifer Lake. This site has just gone to the top of our favourites list!
Graham and Allison are amazing people and make you feel at home the minute you arrive. The facilities are spotlessly clean. The site is the most relaxing we have visited.
The lake is beautiful and although we don't fish it is obviously very popular with fishermen. There are some lovely log cabins to hire if you fancy a weekend without putting the tent up!
There is nothing negative to say about the site and we hope to return many times in the future.

As this is an early stage in the building of this site, what they have achieved comes under brilliant. After only two years and three months I am afraid that we will be back often to see what else they have accomplished. The toilets put hotels to shame and I am not kidding, with the small things included like scented soap and hand towels, and one comment the wife had to make was that fairy liquid with pan scrubbers and dish cloths all await you for washing up, all await me for washing up I should say.
With the electric hook ups for tents and caravans there are plenty for everyone and the space you are allowed is enormous as to other campsites. The fishing is a pleasure to get away from it all as the lake is very large split up by the islands of which there are bridges taking you island hopping if the pitches surrounding the lake are to full. The main thing for Cath and myself with the fifteen year old was the peacefulness and just having a good bit of banter with the owners as they made it their business to mix in with their clientele just to make sure that everything is to your liking. The pub is about ten to fifteen minutes walk down the road, but if you visit Pocklington they have supermarkets, takeaways, fish shops you name it we found it there.

Just got back today from conifer lake and after reading all the great reviews I have to agree, its an absolute peach of a site.
Its a family run site and my wife and I found all the staff were very friendly and helpful with a great sense of humour.
Facilities were faultless, we paid £2 for electric on card and didn't use it all in two nights, some sites we've visited have charged as much as £4 a night. Its not a big site so all fresh water and waste disposal is close at hand. We pitched on grass and had plenty space and even though we had quite a lot of rain the site didn't get muddy. The site is also nice and level. Toilets and showers were great, clean and spacious.
Location was great. Pretty easy to miss sign at entrance but directions on this website are spot on. Its a very pretty site with a lovely lake, nice wildlife. There's also a good golf course very close by.
There's 5 tourers on site on seasonal pitches, 4 cabins and about 15 pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes. We had live entertainment on saturday night in the form of martin, who plays guitar and sings very well.
Loved the site and owners are great. Will be back in autumn and winter as site is open all year.

Just got back from a great weekend, would like to thanks Graeme, Dave and the ladies for a lovely site.
Toilet block etc were to a very high standard, when you talk to them they have high standards and wish to expand the site. Being ex caravanner's they appreciate what visitors need and want and apply it in spades.
Think it was fullish when we were there but they fitted us in at a minutes notice.
Peaceful with good space and the only noise was the shout of Fore from the golf course next door ( they don't hit it very straight) and the occasional crack of a ball of a tree.
Laid back and friendly, could talk about fishing for ages, caught the Orf (like a big gold fish) was damned impressed but brought back to earth when the laddo putting up the glamping huts said I caught that yesterday!
The lake is spectacular, my wife spent some time feeding my maggots to the wren chicks in the nest on one peg.
Enjoyed a couple of meals in the Plough excellent value and food with a warm welcome. Pocklington is nice with a highly recommended Indian in the front street.
All in all makes you want to buy a caravan.
Look forward to going back sometime soon.

Conifer Lake provided me and my partner, the perfect site at which to de-stress from what had been a very hard week at work. As we exited the lane onto the site itself, we discovered a beautiful piece of paradise. The facilities are clean, the site is extremely well tended, the woodland area with the lake and water-lilies was such a unexpected haven of tranquillity. Graham and Allison are a warm and welcoming couple who should be proud of what they have achieved. The site caters for caravans and tents. The owners have, and are still in the process of erecting wooden lodges where you can 'glamp' in comfort. Wildlife is in abundance and we were privileged to spot kingfishers on the lake - a first for us.
Would highly recommend this site and we (plus our well behaved dog!) will definitely be returning.

This is possibly one of the best campsites we have been to. This site was recommended to us by a friend, they go for the fishing. We don’t fish so I wasn’t sure what to expect.
From the off Graham and Alison were so welcoming and helpful. They came to say hi to everyone on the site each morning.
The pitches are a very good size and they certainly have the best facilities I’ve ever seen. The toilet / shower block is spotless and very plush. I can imagine they will have to build another toilet block soon as this place is certainly going to become a hot spot.
The electricity is run on a card basis, which you can buy in £1's or £5's. For a weekend running: TV, Freeview, waterheater, fridge etc. We only used about £3.
An early morning walk around the fishing lake showed me why this place so popular; it is beautiful and peaceful. There is also a separate walk around the campsite for the doggies.
The village pub is 10 minutes walk away. To the other side of the campsite is golf course.
We stayed later than official check out time as it was such a glorious day but when it was time to pack up and leave Graham cycled up the one-way lane so we didn’t encounter any oncoming traffic.
The only fault was the sign to the campsite, we managed to miss it but a quick call to Graham and we were directed in. I suppose if he does replace the sign the site will be so busy we won’t be able to get in!

A jewel in the countryside. NO traffic noise at all! Quiet with no kids.
Easy enough to find. Not expensive. Electric hook up is available.
Facilities are good and although there is only 1 shower for men and one for women, the site is small and we found that you didn't have to wait. They are of a high modern standard, and always clean.
The owners are experienced campers and caravanners so have set up this site with their knowledge reflecting that. Everything is just right. They are extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
The cabins looked fine for visitors without a tent or caravan.
If you want to use freezer packs, they put them in their own freezer, as there is not one for general use.
When you move around at night the lights come on with movement sensors so they are not on all the time.
The ground was good for pegs with only the odd stone.
There is a nice pub about 10 minutes walk in Allerthorpe. 'The Plough' The food was a little on the expensive side. We didn't eat there but some did and said the food was excellent. You will need a torch for the walk back.
Pocklington is nearby and has all the shops you need. It has many independent shops that make it an interesting place to visit.
Many places of interest nearby, with York quite close. The coast is not far either.
The lakes on site are outstandingly beautiful. Kingfishers had a family and they were entertaining. Fishing is good, with a very mixed fish population. Packeted baits are available on site (pellets - paste etc. But not maggots)
We loved this place so much we are going again this weekend for 3 days and again in August. You do need to check availability before going to Conifer Lakes.

Back home from a week camping here. Arrived at the site, the owner Alison greeted us and told us where to pitch up and gave us the code for the toilet/shower block{so the fishermen don't use them as they have their own}.
The site was lovely. The lake was behind us which is a lovely walk round. Also spotting the ornaments in the lake that showed the owners personality made you laugh.
The toilet and shower are in 1 unit but has 3 units altogether are very clean and unlimited hot water, also the pot wash area is also clean with the added touch of washing up liquid is very helpful.
The owners Graham and Alison couldn't help us enough, They even let me in 1 of their pods so that I could straighten my hair as the only thing that is missing is a plug socket in the bathrooms which is due to health and safety.
They have plans to build more shower/toilet blocks and pods which are tastefully done in wood. The area round the site is good near pocklington although you couldn't walk there, York for a busy day out, the site is also close to Beverly where we went to the race meeting for a great evening out.
Bridlington, filey and Scarborough are close too. In the village of allerthorpe there is a pub which for a £5 deposit you can get the key from Alison and Graham for the short cut to the pub otherwise it would take you forever to get there.
We would come back to this site, a lovely site with friendly owners that actually don't mind stopping to talk. Great get away for a great price!
