Very roomy site with basic but clean facilities.
Hosts very accommodating without being overbearing. Nothing was too much trouble.
Lots of room for running around and convenient for all facilities.
Fantastic to be able to have fires and Roger provided pits and wood.
We loved walking through the footpath to The Coldstreamer Inn, walking along the beach to St Michaels Mount and stopping for food and drinks at The Godolphin Arms.
The train station is walking distance away and bus stops outside the site. The beach is a few minutes and dog friendly.
Roger and Zoe made this basic site one that we would go back to again as they were so pleasant.
If you want a play area and laundry facilities this is not for you. Also if you're looking for pin drop quiet, the A30 is quite noisy. However for good old fashioned camping this site was very good value for money and gave us a perfect base to explore the surrounding area.

We stayed here for a week and thought the site really nice. It is ideally located for nipping into Penzance of an evening and for shopping in the day. Also really handy that there is a bus stop near to the site for getting around if you don't want to drive. The coastal footpath to Marazion is also right outside the camp, across the road.
When we arrived the owner welcomed us and we were able to select wherever we wanted to pitch, based on us needing an EHU. We chose to camp near to the shower block rather than the road, so it was a little quieter-the field is quite big. It became apparent that our hook up cable was not long enough and the owner very kindly lent us and extension which was amazing.
Campfires are allowed and the site give you a fire pit as well as sell wood if required which was really handy.
To be fair, the showers/toilet block are a little dated inside, but are cleaned every morning and although the showers lacked the kind of pressure you'd expect at home, they were more than adequate for us and hot. The outside wash basins are not covered but then it only rained one day when we were there.
The field is clean and tidy and there are occasional wild Peacocks roaming around from the grand house adjacent to it.
As the main exit goes onto the road from St. Ives upon leaving you are ideally situated to journey across the peninsular-remember not to turn right, go left and round the road-a-bout if you intend to travel up to St. Ives as it is safer.
All in all, we were very impressed which made us up for a great week & we intend to return. I think it was £17/pn for 2 with EHU, which is amazing value for this area of Cornwall. Overall 10-10.
Pubs: Recommend the fire Engine Inn, Marazion and the Turks Head or Admiral Benbow, Penzance or the Ship In, Porthleven.
Beaches: Perranuthnoe is a short drive away and has some lovely sand and waves, also there is a beach cafe and parking. Prussia Cove is a little further but lacks much of a beach-it is picturesque however.
Walks: Recommend the coastal footpath to Porthleven, it is approx 14m from the campsite and a few pints in the Ship Inn on the harbour work a treat at the end. There are regular buses back from there and the bus stop is outside the campsite! (check bus timetables on the First Group website). Also, drive to Zennor and walk over the coastal footpath to St. Ives, then return through the countryside which is a spectacular walk and approx 8-10m). Beware of the coastal footpaths, they are hard going in places and also steep with sheer drops as you would expect. Don't take them on unless you know what you are doing!

We only camped for two nights and despite the rain we had an amazing time. Perfect location for Penzance as its only a 10/15minute walk down the road many other places around which we didn't have time to check out. Massive field where you can camp wherever you want, showers and toilets are cleaned every day, fridge and freezer are there for you to use at your leisure which is something I've never seen without you having to pay! It was a little boggy due to how much it rained but the man running it used cones to cordon these areas off and kept an eye on the land. Very nice man who came round every few hours to say hello and make sure you was ok, very helpful and just a genuine guy who likes to make sure his campers are happy. So glad we could have a fire as well as it's so hard to find a place where this is possible. All in all, great place, great location, friendly people, can't fault it at all. We will be back next year but for a lot longer this time, thank you for everything.

What a lovely charming site. Its literally just a big field with toilet block, ideally situated 200yards from Tesco and easy walking distance from Penzance. Reasonably priced, welcoming to dogs, this is camping at its best, no problem with BBQ's, spacious even during the school break in August and just across (a busy) road from the beach.

A charming camp site, no need to book, just one big field with clean washing up, toilet and shower facilities. Its also right next door to Tesco's so don't bother taking any provisions with you, cross the road and your on the beach, walk 10 minutes and your in Penzance harbour/town centre, St Michaels Mount is around 30 minutes the other way, 10 miles away is the Lands End visitor centre. Very easy to find as its 2 minutes off the A30 and excellent value for money.

Very friendly campsite, toilets & showers basic but cleaned every day, no facilities as such but ideal site for Penzance, ten minute walk to town. Across the road you're right by the sea, with a lovely view of St Michaels mount, which is a nice walk along beach to Marazion. Also very close to train and bus station. Owners of site very helpful, be back next year.

We just returned from a few days camping there. We had a lovely time there but there are some points where the owner can improve on. Here are the goods and the not so good points.
Pros:
Conveniently located with easy access to Tesco, etc
Next to A road making touring the area very easy
Great and friendly owner; he is always around in his pickup
Big field, pitch where you like and soft ground
You can light fires and BBQ
Cons:
No hot water for washing dishes
Shower dribbles; pressure is very low
Facilities in SERIOUS need of an uplift
Facilities not always clean
Not very quiet as a result of neighbouring Tesco and A road

After reading the other reviews of Ponsandane Camp Site we decided to pitch up for a full two weeks so as to fully appreciate all that Penwith has to offer. Although we were assured that pre-booking would not be necessary the lady dealing with the booking was very understanding that we wanted assurance of availability. When we arrived we were presented with a very spacious field (fantastic for the kids to burn off energy) and we were able to pitch up where we liked (plenty of tree protection from any wind). The showers and toilet block are clean and well maintained and wood is available on site for camp fires. The owner is incredibly diligent without being overbearing and his willingness to offer help is balanced by a quite non-intrusive persona. Exactly what you would hope for from a host.
The location is ideal for taking day trips out to the likes of Lands End, St Ives and Lizard Point and with Penzance town centre as well as two large super markets within walking distance, the modest facilities and rustic nature of camping at Ponsandane are perfectly balanced.
We saw many people come and go, some on bikes, others by train (also within walking distance), some only for a night whilst others for longer, but the field never felt crowded and Roger was swiftly there once people had moved on to ensure the site was kept clean.
We had a fantastic time on a well kept campsite in a beautiful part of the country.

We had a very warm welcome by the farmer! Very helpful on giving us directions to the farm and lovely field sight! Good and well kept toilets and showers, also wash up facilities, all with hot water! BBQ and Camp fires allowed, so we enjoyed the full experience of camping! So close to the town but without the noises! (MOSTLY) Train station and buses in close proximity! But town only a 15min walk away! Lovely to walk along the beach, to St Michael's Mount and then Mousehole, then option of taking the bus back. Also enjoying the shows in 'Minnack' Amphitheatre on the cliffs at Porthcurno, only a few miles away! That is a must to visit! Excellent location for the family! So we will be coming back again.
