I had a very good time at the Campsite. The place is very nice and very well maintained. The toilet blocks are good and kept clean and in good condition. The location of the campsite is excellent, just a few minutes walk from Penzance, with a supermarket besides and the place is completely surrounded by big trees. The owner is always at hand and a very helpful and kind person. I recommend this campsite and I certainly would go back.

I have visited this campsite three times now with my sister and children(we only live up the road)! and enjoyed each time. So close to everything, shop, beach, town etc. The facilities are basic but always clean. To be able to pitch where you like and if wanted, have camp fires is a bonus.
There are nearby resident peacocks that visit and often just like to make themselves heard, sometimes in the early hours. It is also next to a busy road, however, this hasn't deterred us from pitching up!

We arrived at the campsite at around 9am after a long drive.
We were told to camp anywhere we liked but were advised to not pitch near the stream due to the wet weather.
The campsite is a 5 minute walk from a 24 hour Tesco which is very convenient and there is a Morrisons a short drive away. The walk into Penzance takes roughly 10-15 minutes so is in a very good location.
The shower and toilet block is old but the showers are powerful and hot - the best showers we've had camping. The facilities are cleaned every day and kept well stocked with toilet roll etc.
Being able to have campfires here is a massive bonus and you can buy firewood from the owner which is also a bonus.
Unfortunately the ground was wet after a rainy summer but you can't go on a camping holiday in Britain and expect to stay dry.
The greatest thing about this campsite for me was how lovely the owners are! Very friendly and accommodating.
Our new tent was missing a pole which we had delivered to their home/farm and Mr R brought it down to the field for us as soon as it was delivered.
He came to the field numerous times a day to check everything was OK and this was a really nice touch.
We would definitely return to this campsite if we venture that far from Leeds again.

Spent a week here in August 2012.
I chose the site as I was travelling from Northern England and using public transport. The site was perfect for my needs. Was greeted by friendly owner on arrival, he was very helpful and even offered to transport my camping gear to the station if it was raining when I was leaving. The site is quite a large field with a decent shower/ toilet block in the middle. Nice hot showers and always plenty of loo roll (often lacking at other sites I've visited) Shower block also had electric points for chargers etc.
Unfortunately the weather was dreadful, rained heavily most of the week so I was glad I chose a space far from the stream- which also means less midges around the tent.
The site is in an excellent location, only 10 minutes walk from Penzance railway/bus station.
Penzance is a great base for walking this part of the South West Coastal path. Close to St Michaels Mount and Mousehole, also very easy to get to Lands End, St Ives etc using trains and buses (though the train timetable takes some getting used to and if going to St Ives make sure you choose the right train time otherwise you could be stuck in ST Erth a while awaiting connection)There are plenty of places to eat and drink, something for everyone- I loved the Admiral Benbau- v friendly and quite quirky.
Overall I would recommend this site 100 percent as it was a fair price and had everything I needed. I would definitely return to this site and hopefully enjoy better weather next time- didn't let it spoil my time though.

We arrived in Penzance by train to start cycling the south Cornwall and Devon coasts, and Ponsandane was the obvious choice for us - within a few minutes of leaving the station we were settled in a sheltered level spot near the shower block but screened by bushes.
Unfortunately just before we arrived there had been torrential rain which had left the ground waterlogged in places and probably driven some campers home early, so the site was almost empty - in August! These freak summers must be causing serious harm to the west country's tourist trade.
The owner came along to collect the fee and was very friendly and welcoming. The shower/toilet block was brilliant with free showers which always ticks my box.
Apart from a bit of road noise which died down at night, the location is fantastic. Being able to stock up at Tesco's meant we didn't need to bring any food with us, which was a bonus.
The field has a sloping side down to a level area towards the road. We were glad to have found a flat dry pitch. The cost was a reasonable £6pppn.
As a previous reviewer noted, this site is in the tradition of the old-fashioned no-frills campsites that seem to be dying out, yet is in a prime location so near Penzance and the attractions of Mousehole, Marazion, St Ives etc. Just a shame it's not open for longer each year.

We were backpacking through Great Britain. This was one of the nicest campsites we've been. It's nice and easy, you can pitch wherever you like and the shower's are great.
We arrived at probably 7pm and just picked a side for our tent. The owner of the camping drives by now and then.
There's a really big Tesco just around the corner and the sea is just a 2 minute walk away. You can walk to the center of Penzance in about 15 minutes.

Every year for the last decade I have cycled all over Somerset, Devon and Cornwall. A couple of years ago I walked the Southwest coast path from Minehead to Lands End. So it would be fair to assume I've stayed at hundreds of camp sites in the South West.
Ponsandane is by a cornish mile, which usually means two mile, without doubt my favourite place to stay. Its the camp site/farmers field I remember from my childhood.
Camp fires and BBQ's are allowed so long as you are sensible and can locate fire wood. Under no circumstances store a BBQ in your tent, you will die from carbon monoxide poisoning and no I am not sharing the location of my secret stash of firewood.
The free showers are great, much better than a lot I have had to pay for at caravan and camping club sites and the like. The site is always quiet, clean, litter free, safe and secure.
You wont be instructed by the owner on where to pitch.
If you are cycling, hiking or driving and are wanting a base to explore this beautiful part of the world from Ponsandane Farm is perfect.
The bus station is very close by and services will take you to lands end, st ives, Mynack theatre, St michaels mount and any place of interest or beauty quickly and cheaply. Evil but sometimes necessary Tesco's is literally a few mins walk, but the camp is well screened by beautiful mature trees.
Peacocks and peahens often wander through the camp and the swifts will swoop close by at your feet and nearly through your legs as you walk to the loo. Perhaps for fun or maybe just feeding on any insect life you disturb out of the grass ?
