Camp site in a good location for Forest of Dean activities, very clean and tidy. Toilet block immaculate.
Warm welcome from owners who were very helpful with information.
A 20 minute walk gets you to St Briavels and a lovely pub which serves good food.
Our pitch was semi hard standing with grass retainers and no issues despite some heavy rain, you need your levelling blocks.
A great little site nothing really to fault it. The campsite breakfasts looked good but had food in so didn`t try them out.
Would we go back YES.

Stayed for 9 nights here, so much to see and do we added an extra 2 nights.
The site is beautifully maintained, the pitches are a good size and get the sun all day. The shower and toilet block is kept spotlessly clean. The shower cubicles are spacious with plenty of hooks and a bench to put your clothes etc. There is TV hook up which worked really well and we paid for wifi, which also worked well.
The shop is well stocked and has a nice seating area for breakfast if you want it. The curry take away was great.
There is no local transport, but the village is only a 20 minute walk away, either across the fields or on the road. The George Inn does lovely meals. There is a deli type shop in village but no others.
We went to Clearwell mine, Puzzlewood (which is amazing, an enchanted wood, it's not only for kids) did the family Forest bike ride (free if using own bike), Dean Heritage Centre, Forest Steam railway, Tintern Abbey, Symonds Yat (viewpoint and walks, free). All of these were worth the money, we will be going back as we didn't do all the sightseeing we wanted to.
The Butchers Arms in Clearwell is highly recommended for a meal, we had an excellent evening meal there, service, food and decor are all excellent. But do book, we were lucky and got there at the right time.
Will definitely be recommending this site to family and friends.

We can't really fault this site, just a couple of little faults. Pitches are very generous, grass mown nicely, all slightly sloping but easy to level. Not close to any major towns, but this isn't a problem - out in the sticks is what we like.
A couple of minor grouses - (1) lots of kids on bikes tearing about like fools, a few budding Chris Froomes. The site could do with a rule about rocketing about on bikes. (2) the washing up facility is good, all nice and new, but the hot water runs hot and cold, so ended up with a basin of tepid water. We ended up doing ours with our own facilities.
We'll use Forest & Wye again

We stayed at this site at the beginning of the summer holidays for a week. 2 mums and our combined group of 6 children (aged 4, 6, 7, 11, 12 and 14). Due to the size of our 9 man tent, the owners kindly arranged for us to have the largest plot on site. It was fantastic, flat, newly mown, had a convenient hook up point and was opposite the modern bathroom block. It’s worth pointing out that all plots were a good size, flat and clear of debris.
The site is clean, well run and the staff were nothing but friendly, helpful and flexible. Half of our group left a night early, to be replaced by my husband. There was no issue with this change of second car, change of numbers and make up of our group for that last night.
Facilities are clean modern and well maintained. This is only a small site and yet they offered: a shop with all the necessities, food, toys and camping basics; a café, Wi-Fi (paid extra). The food was high quality, one morning we enjoyed the pre-ordered breakfast babs, delivered to our tent with a supply of sauces and napkins; on our last night we took advantage of their take away night, where you could pre order any meal from their ‘take away’ menu (curry, fish and chips, lots of things, can’t remember the rest!) all cooked fresh on site and again delivered to our tent. Food was reasonably priced.
A previous review says there is no area for children to play, this is not the case. There is large clear field a short path away from the main camping area designated for children and ball games. There are also lots of beautiful walks, (including a steam to be played in) direct from the campsite - which our crew loved.
The staff were all really helpful with regards to recommending local activities, going as far as to ring local activity centres for us while we were out to arrange archery and climbing wall for us when we struggled to get hold of anyone. They go above and beyond.
The site is in a convenient position with 2 supermarkets only 15 minutes away. There are also lots of activities within a short drive. Our favourites were Chepstow Castle, Goodrich Castle, Go Ape at the local national park and the magical Puzzlewood (the latter being stupidly overpriced, though a must do for any Star Wars or Merlin Fans).
Whilst there we booked our return visit for summer 2017. Can’t wait….

I must say firstly that this review is based on 2 adults with no children. We were given a really large plot, right where we asked for it. 10/10. The site was spotless. 10/10. Greeted by 2 really friendly ladies and no problems settling in. 10/10. The shower block was modern and kept clean with good showers and drying area in each cubicle. A bit clinical for my liking as I do like to see the odd picture on the wall, 10/10. Washing up area is under cover, but outside. The water temp was a bit erratic and not always very hot. Not a big problem, but washing up outside in the colder months would bother me. 7/10. Now my biggest gripe and I have to say it really spoilt a major part of our break. Monday to Friday it was on the whole lovely and peaceful, but once the w/end came and the families with children arrived the peace was shattered. The site even supply these ride on toys with plastic wheels for the children to use, and along with older ones riding around the road that goes through the park shouting to one another, playing football outside my tent, just about drove us mad. There is a field laid out beside the main camping area for kids to play ball games, and once I had pointed this out to the parents, the football did almost stop outside. There seemed to be no warden there to enforce any of the site rules, so it was just left to the parents to control their children, which a lot did, but a lot did not. 4/10. This is a small lovely little site, and would be a fantastic adult only site in a lovely area. But as a family site in my view its just not big enough even though the pitches are a good size. Sorry but we would not go back on our own. If you go as a family you will probably love it.

Not surprised that this site consistently gets 10 stars, deserves them!
We have just returned from a week in our Folding Camper
Facilities are spotless, even when the site was full over the weekend.
Always hot water in shower blocks. Never waited for a shower even though there site was full for 48 hrs.
Washing up facilities under cover, laundry room and boot drying racks all in the central shower block. There are dog and muddy boot washing facilities behind the block.
Plenty of bins for rubbish and emptied regularly, few bins by the chemical disposal to put tins and glass in.
Pitches are very large all have EHU and TV points. I couldn't get a mobile signal on my phone, there is a payphone I think in reception.
WiFi was £1 day and worked fine, entry is by barrier and a £10 (refundable) card is needed.
The owners daughters run the site and are simply lovely, nothing is too much trouble, always ready to help. Have great local knowledge of where to visit.
A nice touch was their takeaway on Friday and Saturday evenings (or you could eat in their small 'cafe'. Delivered to your pitch, recommend the curry! They also offer full english breakfast.
No children's playground but access to a field to play games in.
Dogs allowed if kept on leads, our Jack Russell puppy adored sniffing and snuffling through the woodland, and going through the brook which burbles down the valley. You can walk across the fields to the local pub in St Briavels, and do a circular walk over fields and back through the woodland.
Coleford 4 miles away has Co-Op and Tesco express. Lydney has larger Tesco and Co-Op. Both have lots of independent shops.
The site sells basics and has selection of camping things for sale that one may have left behind!
Short drive to all the Forest tracks and trails, forest attractions, and short distance from Offa's Dyke and the Welsh borders. Tintern and Wye Valley a stones throw away.
We love this area, the site was first class and being only the second season everything is fresh and kept beautifully. We shall definitely return.

This is a lovely camping site. We went with a number of friends (group of 3 tents) and we were all really impressed. The owners are on hand to help with everything and anything. The Forest of Dean is a fabulous area with lots on offer. The facility block is clean, hot water (although loses a little pressure when the sinks/showers are all in action) and modern. At the back there is a hose to wash your wellies and your dog! There is fridges, laundry facilities and the girls even offer a takeaway/delivery service from the main reception. It was well received on a cold and dreary night - the kiddies ate at 6pm, we had a few drinks and ate at 8pm! Brilliant and the food was home cooked and really tasty! I love this site, I will certainly be back, it was quiet, clean and most importantly we felt really welcomed. :-)

A small, family friendly, family run campsite. Only 43 pitches which are all large. Toilets, showers and washing up facilities were never busy and we're all brand new last year. Regularly cleaned and not a spot of rubbish to be found on whole site. The site backs on to fields and woodland so very peaceful. One of the fields had been mown for the kids to play games. Being so small all the kids played together and were having water fights on sunny days. The shop sells basic goods and camping equipment (including gas) as well as local meat. It also has a small cafe which does a lovely breakfast - eat in or take away and evening meals on some nights. The family are really helpful and friendly and will help you book trips. They are very knowledgeable of local area. There are 3 pubs within 2 miles. We tried The George at St Braviels which was really nice and family friendly. Loads to do in the area including cycling, canoeing, zip wire at NDAC, tag archery, foot golf and lots of walking.

This really is a stunning site. Opened in 2015 and converted from a working farm, it includes a mixture of grass and hardstanding pitches - all with electric hook up and sited a reasonable distance apart so the site does not feel crowded. There is an immaculate shower and laundry block, a small shop and a café serving hot drinks, cakes, snacks and breakfast to order.
The owners - who are incredibly friendly and helpful - say they try and stock the items that visitors are most likely to have forgotten, and it certainly does appear that they have put some thought into it.
The location is lovely too, backing onto a beautiful area of woodland which at the time of our visit in May was full of bluebells. It's a short walk either through fields of sheep and spring lambs or alongside Slade Brook (a Site of Special Scientific Interest) to the village of St Briavels.
I have just one constructive criticism, which isn't enough to downgrade my rating. Following our visit over the May Bank holiday, the bins provided were nowhere near sufficient to accommodate the waste left by quite a number of visitors at once. Clearly this is the exception and I have no doubt that it was all cleared later in the day, but if they had parked something like a small trailer or a big hippo bag for the excess waste it would have looked far tidier and more hygienic.
But that's enough negativity. Like I said, the site is stunning and I would recommend it wholeheartedly if you are visiting the Forest of Dean or the Wye Valley.

We stayed here over the bank holiday weekend, it is a lovely site, not very big about 50 pitches. Which were all filled over the weekend, but was not a noisy site. Lovely walks to do from site and close to lots of places. We walked to The Gerorge pub in St. Brevials and had a lovely meal.
They had a curry night on the Saturday which had to be ordered by 3pm and was then delivered to your pitch which was enjoyed by all. They also do the same with breakfast orders.
Toilets and showers are all kept very clean.
The two sisters which run the site are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely return.
