New site growing as the seasons progress. Very modern and clean facilities the equal of any 'club' site. Very helpful staff, nothing too much trouble. Good for walks with the dogs (2) from the site and further afield all pubs seem to welcome dogs. Plenty of attractions in local area and wi-fi on site at a very good rate makes up for lack of a mobile signal. No faults, site just lies in a hollow where signal is lost. A very enjoyable break of three nights and are intending to return. Party of 2 adults and 2 springer spaniels.

Stayed her for the last part of the half term.
An easy to find site (follow directions on website not sat nav) that is relatively new - we were told it only opened in March.
Nice big pitches, and about half the site was occupied.
Facilities
They offer food in he reception, provided it is booked in advance, and there is a limited shop there too which has most of the basics needed.
Helpful staff, knowledgeable about the local area and eager to make our stay as pleasant as possible.
Toilet block was clean and spacious (it is a new building) with plenty of hot water.
Local area is great for walking and biking, dog got a bit muddy on the walk wound the vicinity of the camp, and we then went on to cycle in the Forest of Dean.
This site overall is excellent, fantastic facilities and lots to do nearby. The site has no phone signal, and they loan you a cable for the tv reception - as I said, so helpful.
Wifi is the cheapest we have encountered for 'paid' wifi at only £1 per day
Definitely coming back again.

What a wonderful site ! we turned up late and were left directions to our pitch via a map (very hard to read even with glass's)and the pitch numbers were impossible to see in the dark BUT that was the only problem ! The pitches are spacious, owners helpful, facilities excellent! Cant think of anything that was not catered for. There is a café incorporated into the reception for breakfast if needed, shop, lovely walks (with directions ). The local pub half hr walk does amazing food. Needless to say we will be going back ! :)

Welcoming helpful reception. £10 cash refundable for barrier. Lovely big and airy shower/toilet block and clean. Unfortunately on last day after 6 tenters and 3 caravans pitched, I had to clear away someones makeup removal pad from the sink area. No excuse as large bin nearby, are these people as mucky at home?
Good sized level pitch that didn't feel cramped with awning and car.
Very lucky with the weather, few showers when visiting Symonds Yat so slightly soggy dogs.
We arrived when only half the pitches were occupied, but even then the bins were full, so need more bins and appears that Gloucestershire doesn't do recycling.
Very quiet at night, no traffic noise, just the odd owl.

Stayed here for two nights after picking up our new van(close to Dealer) Easy access, good and easy check in. £10 refundable deposit for barrier key card. Good sized open pitches with slight slope. Electric and tv point at all pitches. Small shop with basic necessities and a small cafe in reception. Good new facilities as site has not been open long. There are a few pubs in the vicinity, two of which we tried for evening meals. The Orepool and the Miners inn at Coleford, both good eateries.

What a lovely site, everything is clean and new. The sisters that run the site are polite and professional, fully stocked shop and the toilet/shower block are spotless. We have a 2 & 4 year old that will not shower but this was not a problem as the disabled toilet has a small bath. I would recommend this site to all my friends.
Will definitely stay there again.

We stopped at this site on our way back from Wales, it was a last minute booking the night before we arrived, we booked it as our normal site in the area was full, , We are so glad we did! What a lovely little site, from our first arrival we where made to feel welcome by Jo, we booked for four nights and despite very poor weather we have enjoyed our time here, the site is clean and tidy and laid out perfectly on the edge of a wood with a good walk for our two dogs, the shower are modern, spotless and free! With plenty of hot water and a separate little private drying area, which impressed my wife no end, , there is a nice little shop for essentials and its short drive to coleford with supermarkets ect ect, a couple of nice pubs are quite close as well, , there is so much to do and see in the Forest of Dean, and all within a short drive or even bike ride, , we love it and will return for the changing colours of autumn very soon, , this is now our favoured site, need I say more! A lovely site very clean the girls are so friendly nothing is to much trouble. A bit muddy in the valley but a good pair of wellies sorted, the site is quiet not close to shops etc but the onsite shop has most things including great bbq packs plus the bacon or sausage and egg rolls are a great start to the morning it has only been open a short time but if the girls keep this standard up they will be very busy thankyou for a wonderful relaxing stay.

We (2 adults & 1 6yr old) stayed here for 3 nights in July in our touring caravan with electric hook-up and it was great. Very helpful staff, nice clean and tidy site.
You get a key card for the barrier on arrival (£10 refundable on check-out).
Fantastic new toilet/shower block with a laundry room where you can dry your wet boots as well as clothes.
Clean showers with a mop which guests were using after they showered to clear up any grass etc. The cubicles have a bench seat & hooks to hang your stuff on as well as a shower curtain to keep it all dry! Water pressure wasn't great but it was better than some places I've been.
Toilets and sinks were also clean and there were hooks near the sinks too.
Inside the toilet/shower block was a selection of tourist leaflets and also books you could swap.
Outside were boot cleaning scrapers.
The main reception building also has a shop with the essentials (we had to get rice as I forgot to pack any!) as well as a cafe, which we didn't use.
Our son went to an adjoining field with another family where they could play too - more room for ball games. There is a path alongside the camping field to get there, but a gate needs to be added so you don't have to climb over the fence.
Some great very local attractions. We tried to go to Puzzlewood, but it was closed as they were filming something (couldn't tell us what though, very secretive!). We went to Perrygrove Railway instead, only across the road from Puzzlewood. That was great family fun, with a treasure hunt for the kids with treasure at the end if you get the answers to the questions right!
It rained one day so we went underground to Clearwell Caves, an old iron mine, again very local. Lots to read & see on a self led tour. A great way to stay dry!
There is also a steam railway in the area, Dean Forest Railway, which looks worth a visit.
All these were detailed in leaflets available on site.
We also took a short walk around the site through the woods, and it was very peaceful and quiet.
We paid the extra for the wifi (only £1 a day I think) & it was well worth it as we didn't have any mobile signal and were trying to get in touch with friends to meet up!
Overall a great site and well worth a visit. We would definitely return.

We booked this site as our first time exploring in the Forest of Dean area.
The site on first impressions was presented immaculately. We pulled over to check in at reception and was greeted with a very big smile from Beverly! Useful to know on arrival you will be asked for a £10 cash refundable deposit for the security barrier. We also purchased some wifi for the duration of our stay for £1 per day as we found phone signal (o2 & vodafone) was very limited.
As it was a first time in the area, we had done some initial research of things that we wanted to do and places to explore but Beverly couldn't have been more helpful providing us with maps of local walks, and telling us about the main places to see.
We were shown a map of the site with our allocated pitch, however we were told that as we had arrived on the Sunday if there was another pitch that we preferred (that hadn't already been booked) then we could move. All the pitches were very well marked and our pitch was marvellous. A huge pitch, which fitted our Outwell Montana 6 and van, and we still had plenty more space. The pitch was level and the well maintained with a EHU attached to the fence at the back of the pitch.
Toilet block was spotlessly clean throughout the week, with hot showers! Plenty of space in the shower cubicles to not get everything soaked whilst showering. As it is a fairly small site the toilet block is never a far away from any pitch.
The only thing I could find wrong with the whole site was the light timer in the showers. The light sensor doesn't pick you up in the cubicle so if like me, you like a long shower be prepared to finish in dark if you take too long! This shouldn't a problem when the site is busier with more people coming and going, but I was sometimes the only one in there.
Inside reception was a very small but well stocked shop and larger cafe. We were advised on arrival that breakfast was available if pre-booked the day beforehand. We immediately booked as we had made a school boy error and forgot to pick up food before our arrival and forgot all the supermarkets closed at 4 on Sunday! We were pleased we had booked, as breakfast was delicious and the coffee was tasty too.
The site's location is fantastic with a pub 5 minutes drive or 20 minute walk away with very friendly locals. Puzzlewood, Clearwell Caves, Littledean Jail are all within a 15 minute drive away, and the beautiful sites of Chepstow Castle, Tintern Abbey & Symonds Yat are about 25 minute drive away. The Forest of Dean itself is about a 10 minute drive away and has some great cycle paths! My other half loved the mountain bike trails!
If you are visiting Symonds Yat there is a lovely pub on the River Wye which serves lovely food with great views. I could sit there for hours and watch the world go by!
Around the site is a beautiful woods and river which you really must walk around! There is slight road noise to the site in the day, however come the evening this disappears. I awoke a few times in the night to complete silence. You could hear a pin drop from miles away!
I think during the duration of our stay there were about another 6 pitches occupied, however the site did not feel deserted. It had a very warm and welcoming feel. Even on Friday evening when the site became very busy it still felt welcoming and peaceful.
This family run site is so welcoming, peaceful and nothing is too much trouble for the owners. The site is a real credit to all their work and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone!
We will definitely be retuning!
The only thing we did notice in the surrounding areas is a lack of cash machines. The nearest supermarket was a large Co-op about 10/15 minute drive away.
