Good site if you like the rough kind of camping.
When booking was confirmed as a grass pitch with EH, however was put onto an area which was predominately stone. Even though we could pick the pitch it was unlevel and very stony.
Toilets were cleaned in the morning but come evening time very dirty and muddy. Showers also very dirty come evening. If only a mop and bucket could be left I'm sure all us mums would just clean the shower after we have left.
Great kids site, ours went off and did not see them for most of the short stay we were there, building a den in the woods.
Very noisy at night though, seems as though the no noise rule did not apply here, even the so called music in the pub on site was very loud and did not finish until well after midnight, not good when you need to get your head down to sleep with kids.
All in all you get what you pay for I suppose. Would only recommend this site if you like the back to basic camping though.
Squirrel Pub excellent, good food and great service. Battle High Street also has good take away food, Chinese, Fish and Chips and Indian etc so no need to cook around camp as all can be reached within 10 minutes.

This is not our first visit to this wonderful little site and it wont be our last. It is truly a peaceful setting with wonderful pitches in the middle of the woods. It is a very family friendly site and is run by very friendly helpful staff. They have a small bar with a big TV, pool table and other games. The toilet / shower blocks are small but well maintained with free hot showers, washing up facilities, washing machine and tumble dryer. Cannot wait to go back. See you all again really soon.

Stayed at Senlac Wood for 3 nights and had a fantastic time. Although most of the pitches were on gravel, and the tent field was full, we managed to pitch our tent. It's Dirt cheap, and definitely worth what we paid.
The facilities weren't exactly clean, and the lights weren't lit on some pathways to the toilets at night. The woodland is a great feature for kids, and we managed to build a wigwam with our friends.
The play area is reasonably large, with 3 swings, 1 unfortunately broken. Everything in the play area is made out of wood from the trees of the campsite, and isn't very strong
The staff at the campsite were helpful, and work very hard to help anyone in need.
Squirrel pub a few minutes down the lane if you want a fantastic selection of foods, a lovely pub with excellent staff.
This site is located just off of the A271, so it is a bit noisy, and the fox hunters do come out often in the early morning, so it isn't the quietest of campsites.
Nice campsite, a shame about the facilities though, so we wont be staying here again, but it is recommended to anyone with a caravan.

I organise the 'Kids and Dads Camping Weekend' did a pre visit, as we are all from Hastings and surrounding area, Marie very helpful, booked 15 pitches for 30 kids and 20 Dads, brilliant weekend communal cooking, BBQ of the ground so had logs and a fire to sit around afterwards, no complaints about facilities, walked through the woods to Squirrel Pub, rather over grown and not sign posted, kitchen closed at 2:30 so that was a disappointing pub lunch. Plenty of space will be going again next year

Stayed her for two days and two nights. The owners were friendly (free lollipops for the kids) and helpful. We managed to get two pitches together at short notice, which was good. What wasn't so good was the kids playing on the swing rope right near us, but this was resolved the second day when more people pitched and the ropes were cut.
Anyway, the ground was good, the actual woods amazing. The playground was excellent, and the facilities were good as well. It does need more lighting along the paths though. Two other problems we had were the dirtiness of the toilets/showers, although that can be expected in a woody environment to some degree, and the speed bump, which might have damaged our underside of the car. However, for two days we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and heartily recommend it.

Camp was pleasant. Pitches were fairly clearly marked out. Toilets were a bit basic but clean enough. Showers were a bit muddy but considering there had been rain on the previous day was to be expected. Washing facilities were also good. Little Park for the kids kept them occupied. At £14 per night was good value also. Would definitely consider coming back.

Having literally just returned we thought we would write our review. We were expecting a busy site but was surprised to be the only tent pitched there - there were three more over the two nights we were there. We had originally booked for three but the site was clay and therefore there was no drainage and the ground just could not cope with the rain - beware of this site in the rain ! There was no games room and no evening entertainment although we did not want evening entertainment the games room would have been good for the kids in bad weather. The illuminated walk was from the shower block to other pitches and was never illuminated. Also shop ??? what shop a few sweets and fizzy drinks in reception!
Overall a clean well kept surprisingly quiet site with a good park for kids, but would I return ? No it just wasn't for me.

Spent a long weekend at this site, and found it to be very nice. The facilities are clean, and we never had to queue at all for the showers. There was plenty of free hot water too.
The only fault we can talk about was that there did not seem to be a cut off time for noise, and on both the Friday and Saturday night we were kept awake until the early hours!
Can recommend the White Heart at Netherfield, lovely food and very friendly locals.
What the site does need is an open space for the kids to play with balls etc, there is a lovely adventure playground, but not much else for the children.
If we head back down to East Sussex we will happily go back to this site.

We arrived at this campsite on a glorious afternoon to find they had no electric due to repairs. We were shown our pitch opposite some sheep in a pen, and the pitches were quite cramped. We were also in between two large groups, it was quite uneven and we had a big bank behind us.But what a site, once the electric was back on, it was great. Facilities were always clean and plenty of free hot water. You were left alone although the owners did come round daily on a quad bike to check things. We had a bad storm the first night and my fears about having a big slope were unfounded as we stayed dry.It however did get noisy over the weekend, as they do not appear to have a cut off time for being quiet, blokes playing in the park until about 1.00am. Would reccomend the white hart pub in netherfield, friendly staff and lovely food, well worth a visit. A nice site and we would use it again
