Stayed here for two nights, one of the downsides of campervan travel is that you cant always keep your pitch when you head off for the day (no awning). However I still managed to have a good view of the sea and close by to the facilities.
Loved the owner's quirkiness and the granddaughters hard work. Facilities are clean and in good order. The notices take some getting used to but underline the owners quirky sense of humour. Would be good to have somewhere to tie a dog to when visiting the facilities.
The Anchorage is ok but could improve on the menu a little.

Campsite does not allow bookings, so you need to turn up early to get a good pitch, and we were glad we did as the prime spots right at the front, overlooking the bay, were almost all taken. It is a great location, perfect position to watch the sun go down or watch birdlife directly from your window.
Facilities perhaps slightly dated but very clean and well maintained and showers worked well. Owners very friendly. Scourie Inn does a reasonable but not outstanding evening meal. Don't bother with coffee at the Anchorage though, it was nasty!

Angus who is now 80 years young has delegated a lot of the work to his family. He tells me his son is taking over later this year. Meanwhile his very capable grand daughter does the day to day running and hard graft chores. She works a very long day!
As before try and secure a cliff edge pitch. The views out across Scourie Bay are brilliant and the sunsets will take your breath away. The toilets are very clean although I may say the floors always seemed wet from mopping.
Some odd idiosyncrasies still exist here, eg signs; leave toilet seat up when finished. Do not charge mobile phones in the electric razor points. Have a laugh and enjoy them all. Take most of the notices with a pinch of salt.
The grand daughter went round marking every EHU with '9 amps'. Odd that because the RCB still show they are 6 amps???
The on site licensed restaurant, the Anchorage,
Is not bad but the menu still lacks originality and could be improved immensely in choice for no extra cost. Best grub up the road at the Scourie Hotel. Plenty to see and do in the area.5 nights zoomed by.

Nice site with lovely setting overlooking the water. Handy walk to Scourie beach, rough path from campsite or a bit further along the road, there is a great little bird hide next to the beach with lots of local info inside.
The site owner is friendly and has lots of witty notices around the site, certain to make you chuckle.
The pitches are hard standing and first come first serve for the water front ones. The facilities are excellent, one of the best shower blocks used during our trip. The laundry is reasonably priced and the restaurant next to the site serves decent food and wine.
It is a 5 minute flat walk to the local supermarket with friendly staff.

This is a lovely site.
We turned up because they do not take bookings and we were shown a few sites that we could pitch on.
Toilet block were very big with lots of toilets and showers - only downside is that there is nowhere to put anything when you are having a shower so all of your things get wet.
Site is very well kept and tidy.
There is a pub on the site which is where we had dinner the night we stayed. I would recommend the steak and the ribs - they were both lovely although the most expensive items on menu they were well worth the money!
The next morning as we got ready to leave the owner called us into his office to give us the £3.00 back that we had paid for our awning.
As we have a campervan we have a pull out awning that is attached to the van - the owner told us that this was more of a shelter then an awning and he could not take the money off us which was very kind of him and he did not have to do that.
We would definitely return to this site.

We were disappointed with this site and only stayed one night before moving up to Durness. The site was crowded and very exposed, with a limited choice of places to pitch where a) we could find some shelter, and b) where we wouldn't be overlooked. After much deliberation, we found a small area near a wall at the top of the site, but were very overlooked with the close proximity of camper vans which arrived after we had pitched our tent. All the 'best'(suitable for us)pitches were filled already.
The facilities were excellent though, and the owners very friendly and helpful despite lots of rules posted up on walls everywhere. As the weather then became cold and raining we didn't explore the beach or area that evening, and we made a quick getaway the next morning. We heard from a fellow camper next to us that the weather had been brilliant all week, up to our arrival!
Finally, they charge by tent size, and although we'd paid £14 when we arrived for the bigger tent we intended using, given the small pitch and the deteriorating weather, we only used the small pop-up tent which would have been £4 cheaper - we felt we couldn't ask for a refund! But then, that was our fault, not theirs.

Spotted this site on UKCampsite.co.uk and tried to phone and book, 'we've not taken bookings since 1974' is just one of the quotes from the colourful site manager / owner who has plenty to tell visitors! A handy site for visits to Handa Island just up the road (ferry trip £10 per person).
Our visit was rewarded with great views over an interesting beach and natural sea scape as mentioned by the previous reviewer. The road from Ullapool provided a steady panorama and was worth the journey in itself, don't forget to stop at the ruined castle.
The price was £15 per night incl elec for two people + caravan. On site facilities were absolutely spotless although there were plenty of rules posted to let everyone know what was expected of them(!).
A large area of the site is laid to well-kept grass on multi levels and another hardstanding area (which looks a little like a car park) mainly for touring vans and camper vans, but it did overlook the bay.
Hotel nearby did food/drinks but small cafe next to site was only open for some of the season and closed during our visit. Spar shop in village had the basics available.
If you fancy a site with stunning views and you don't mind a little wind blowing the cobwebs away, this could well be your answer. Don't bother booking as the owner does not bother as they've never turned anyone away so far since 1974!

Wonderful site, views and walks. Quirky signs and owner who was welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful to us. The garage was expanding and the shop was excellent. Showers & loos spotless.

First visited this site 30 years ago and fell in love with its position. Have returned intermittently since then but intend to be back many times now we have got a super-duper tent, i.e. One I can stand up in.
Quirky manager and signs all add to the pleasure of a visit here. Toilets/showers all perfectly adequate while not exactly spa material. Bar and restaurant on site and a good hotel bar very close by. Scenery to die for and walks a-plenty. Don't forget a sunset dram!

Owner very friendly. Lots of tongue in cheek notices pinned up. We where pitched with a hook up at the front edge of the site nearest the sea and it was beautiful. Toilet block very clean. Hot water did seem to cycle hot and cold a bit but it always leveled off. Only 1 hand dryer which was situated outside the toilet area in a communal lobby, I assume this was to stop it being used as a hair dryer.Wash-up area and laundry was clean. Restaurant on site which was nice. Lovely and peaceful. Plenty of walking straight from the site. Wish we lived nearer.
