Overview: private site in a fairly remote location. Pluses: spotlessly clean facilities, eccentric but helpful owner, stunning location and views (weather permitting), Spar shop nearby (closed Sundays), on-site bar/restaurant, nearby walled garden. Minuses: cash only (no credit/debit cards and no nearby ATM). Would we return: most definitely

We returned mid May 2007. The weather was awful but that was not Angus the Owner's fault. The cafe /restaurant bar was open. Very clean and smart, but what a shame about the very poor choice of menu. What we had was ok but with a little imagination it could be improved dramatically. Whilst we were there every new arrival managed to trip out the electrics. Closer examination revealed the 16 amp circuit breakers had been replaced with 6 amp ones! How mean! I heard the same rumours as last year that the Caravan Club may try and buy the site. If only. Otherwise a very pleasant stay and scenery to die for.

Consider how far north you are and in some respects this site is a little oasis. Mostly hardstandings and apparently 16 amp electric. We never had any problems. The sunsets are the best I have ever seen and take your breath away. The facilities are very clean, plenty of them and gallons of hot water. We did find it hard to regulate the shower temperature which is strange as the units are of German origin. Angus the guy who runs the place is odd but we found him very amiable and chatty. Don't be put off by all his notices, most of them are a laugh ! Good grub at the Scourie Hotel. The onsite restaurant and bar was closed when we were there. We are going back May 2007.

We have visited this site several times and consider it to be the best of those we have stayed at in UK. The facilities (showers/toilets/wash room)are always spotlessly clean and are sufficient in number in relation to the size of the site. Pitches are flat and layered to allow nearly all to enjoy the wonderful sunsets and views westwards to Handa Island and beyond. Also, bar and catering is close at hand if you don't fancy cooking or weather is bad.

I would endorse what other reviewers have said. Only a few points to watch out for. The EHU posts look fairly new but in the area we were in (right beside the bay) despite being marked as 16 amps they are fused at only 6 amps so we had to run our heating on gas. This was not mentioned when we booked in. Some of the pitches further back beside the road are supposed to have 13 amps, but we did not check this out. We felt 6 amps was a bit stingy in this neck of the woods as it can often be rather chilly.
Hot showers are free and available 7am to 11 pm.Cubicles are large but there is no curtain so take plastic bags to put your stuff in or it will get soaked.Lots of basins with H&C but no private cubicles.
The village shop was very disappointing when we were there, poor choice, lots of empty shelves and in poor condition. Much more could be made of it.

Just returned from 3 wonderful nights here. Well maintained site with friendly owner. Toilets and showers are clean with plenty hot water. Views over Scourie Bay are magnificent.......bring a camera to capture the stunning sunsets. A great base to explore some of Scotland's beautiful scenery. We will be back!

On the whole a good site in an amazing part of Scotland, the views are amazing. The site and facilities are very well kept and clean. Use caution when using showers as they seem to run from scalding hot to freezing cold depending on who else is running the water at the time! Angus (the owner) is a strange fellow, although pleasant enough, he seems quite keen on posting little rules all over the place. The village on the whole is quite un-dog-friendly, no establishment allowing them in, no dogs on handa island, and no dogs on the footpath to tarbet. We only stayed 2 nights.

We stayed at this site for a couple of nights on our way north and it's definitely worth a visit. The views from the pitches are fantastic, particulary from the hard-standings which are perched right on the edge of the sea front (with quite a drop in front). Facilities are very clean and well kept, including a good laundy however the showers must have been playing up as it was impossible to keep a steady temperature with them and that made them very frustrating to use.
The restaraunt at the entrance to the site is ok, and there is also a hotel and shop nearby. Boat trips can be taken around the Handa island reserve from the harbour in Scourie, or actually onto the island from a few miles to the north. We enjoyed our day there (the kids especially loved the puffins) so it's well worth a trip.

May 2004 This is a sizeable site with plenty of room. You cannot book in advance but you get to pick your own pitch on arrival. Electric hook-ups are available. Showers, toilets and washbasins were all clean and in good condition. There is a laundry room with washing machines as well as a tumble drier as well as a dish washing area. There is a grey waste point for motorhomes as well as a chemical disposal point and fresh water. Angus, the owner, is very friendly with a unique sense of humour - you will either love him or hate him - we loved him. He reminded us of Alf Wainwright - if you are a walker you will know what we mean. There are wonderful views over the bay from all pitches and it is so peaceful you'll not want to leave. Bookout is by 12:00. Try the Scourie hotel for excellent food especially fresh fish.

June 2004 We only intended stopping off here for a night but ended up staying nearly a week! Fell in love with the views - the pitches are all terraced so everyone gets a harbour view and the sunsets are amazing to behold. The staff were very friendly and helpful and kept the place clean and tidy, cutting the grass every day. Don't be put off by the apparent "rules" displayed all over the place, they make entertaining reading. There is an onsite restaurant and also the Scourie Hotel down the road offers decent food and drink (but don't go in to watch an England football match!) and the local post office and shop is only yards away (watch out for overcharging in here though). Handa Island is a must-see, there are puffins, seals, Great Skuas amongst other creatures and it's only a couple of miles away.
