Warning this place should come with a government health warning ! The area set aside for tents is poor. There are lots of trees and rough patches of ground. The roads around the camp are full of potholes. Added to this the owners don't seem to care about how many people they let onto the site. People were therefore having to pitch their tents extremely close to one another.
The toilets were a disgrace. This was at 5pm when I arrived and they were supposed to have been cleaned at 4pm. There was vomit in the sink in the ladies which was still there the morning after. The showers were filthy and to add insult to injury you had to buy a token for 60p per shower.
Didn't use the on site bar so I can't comment on that.
The childrens play area however was very good and suitable for all ages.
I paid for two nights but only stayed for one. I wish I had listened to the majority of reviews from ukcampsite but the last one I read was positive. It's only £12 per tent per night but to be honest I wouldn't stay there again

This site now seems to be picking itself up. New public toilet block, new childrens play area for the little ones and for older children, with an icecream cabin selling ices and drinks etc. A new cafe by the Jet Ski lake. Animal petting compound.Crazy golf.
The Lakeside bar public house open all day with a beer garden, and a new Arcade with games machines (no Gamblers) and the usual sports events Jet Ski, Paintball, Motorcross. Mt bikes, Golf, fishing.
Happy Camping.

I went to this site for the first time and it is brilliant for all, kids and adults. Everything for everyone. The toilets are clean, the people on the site are very friendly and the playground is great. Just outside the pub there is lots of things to do, fishing, paintballing and lots more, there is even a little pets corner. I have a very large tent and it only costs £12 no matter what size. We're going back to the site and cant wait.

Read reviews about here after we had booked & after reading reviews was alarmed & rang & spoke to them, we were reassured that they had been taken over in Feb 07 & that the toilets are now cleaned twice a day! To be honest we only seen them get cleaned in a morning which they needed! As most of the toilets were blocked! The showers you have to pay for 40p for 5/6 Min's & they have a mind of their own!The staff seem to be pleasant & helpful & there are many people who live on site all year & seemed to be very happy with everything. There is no play area for kids to play but loads of room for them to run round. Caravan picthes are OK you just can' t boil a kettle as it trips everything off & that was in 2 different caravans! The site itself is in desperate need of a face-lift we only stayed for the weekend & had a pleasant time. Everyone who we spoke to said that the new owner has big plans for log cabins in the woods & big equestrian centre is going to be built & a play area to done, to be honest if the owner starts by sorting out whats already there that would be great start. May possibly go back next year to see if any changes as staff said that you won't recognise the place next year! All in All had a nice weekend away.

The setting is excellent with the lakes and walks around them but the toilets are disgusting. A sign outside said they were closed for 1 hour morning and afternoon for cleaning. The sign did not say which day of the month this momentous occasion was held. The one washing up sink was putrid when we arrived and the same when we departed.
Many of the pitches were seasonal vans with grass high around them. Many had commercial vehicles which arrived with hedge trimmings etc. At the end of each day.
A barrier was dropped at 9pm. To stop cars entering the site, having to be left at the site entrance several hundred yards from ones pitch. Do not use this site unless you are completely self-contained and have no alternative. Book for one night only.

This site is our second site to visit in our van, Didn't know what to expect. We was given a pitch where our van was less than 2 feet away from the van behind us! Toilets a big let down having taken the family the shower blocks where not the best with no where to put dry cloths without them getting wet or any where to put items like soap or shampoo but for the floor. But that didn't stop us enjoying the site. The kids loved the fun fair and got plenty use of the bikes. It was quiet for midnight ish. From what I have heard its in its infancy and we may re visit again sometime. You must allow for the 6 amp power supply we had to turn off every thing even the fridge in order to boil the kettle.

My family and I recently stayed at this complex for a long weekend break. We entered the site and was immediately disappointed the site office was a hut full of cobwebs, we were pointed towards a pitch with no real direction. The rubbish around the site made it look like a land fill site not a caravan site! The toilets were disgusting and were only cleaned once during our 4 day stay. In the evening we visited the camp site pub, at last a saving grace, the service was excellent the atmosphere warm and welcoming, we were invited to the Saturday night Country and Western night, at first we thought this was not our cup of tea, but how wrong we were the night was fantastic. If only the rest of the stay was. At night we were kept awake by a loud group of people swearing and shouting to till the early hours. My husband searched out the security only to find the security and the lady who booked us in were the people making all the noise.

Stayed here at the very end of May to test out the trailer tent I had bought. It is a fairly large site, but we had a cosy spot in the woodlands area. The toilet blocks were pretty clean, and the water was lovely and hot, but they could have benefited from a little more attention.
A nice little club on site opened during the day which was a bonus, and there is a cafe, and also a golf course and shop. The park also caters for paintball and jet ski activity on a big lake. There is also fishing(+shop) for a small fee.
All in all a great little site, and every staff member I met could not have been friendlier. Worth a go if you are visiting Merseyside and it is local for Ormskirk and Southport. We paid £15 per night with electric hook up.

We visited the campsite bank holiday weekend, we ignored the reviews about the toilets being filthy (big mistake). The toilets are scruffy, you use the toilet no soap to wash hands, hand dryer out of order not very hygienic. As more people arrived on site the filthier the toilets became to be fair to the site a chap cleaned the toilets every day. A lot of the mess was down to people using them used sanitary towels not put in bins just thrown on floor behind loos toilet seats broke etc etc. The washing up area was also dirty we boiled water in tent to wash up as there was no hot water available unless you went back in toilets. Shame really the site was really large big lake for water sports golf course on site, nice and cheap to camp someone could do with spending a couple of thousand pounds on basic facilities to make the site a really nice site, it was like going back in time.

Visited Leisure Lakes by accident looking for a quiet family site. Having paid for our pitch we ventured onto the site. There are a large quantity of seasonal pitches and the grass hadnt been cut for quite some time. Before we set up the caravan my wife went to use the toilets and came back a very short time later asking me to drive her to the nearest pub as the toilets on site could only be described as horrendous. Needless to say with the genral bad state of repair of the site we didnt even put our legs down and drove off the site.
