Visited Leisure Lakes by accident looking for a quiet family site. Having paid for our pitch we ventured onto the site. There are a large quantity of seasonal pitches and the grass hadnt been cut for quite some time. Before we set up the caravan my wife went to use the toilets and came back a very short time later asking me to drive her to the nearest pub as the toilets on site could only be described as horrendous. Needless to say with the genral bad state of repair of the site we didnt even put our legs down and drove off the site.

This camp site is one of the best I've stayed at in a long time. The site is clean. The toilets are cleaned twice a day. The security is good, you always know when a security gaurd is around because you can here them on their quad bikes. The people are all friendly on site. There is plenty of grassed area's for the children to play. There is also jetskiing, fishing, mountain biking and a golf course. You can get the bare essentials from the camp shop and have a good night out at the club all on site. It's only the people who come camping on the weekends in the woods that make it untidy leaving there mess when they leave and making a mess of the toilets. The regulers in caravans are all responsible people and look after the caravan site and keep it tidy. The site is spotless as my pictures show.

I have to agree with most of the other reviews on this site. The toilets were filthy. You cannot leave or get back onto the campsite after 9pm as the gates are locked. We arrived back after shopping for nappies at 9.05pm and could not get back to our tent. We asked the owner to open the gate for us but they were too busy partying and refused. We had to carry our children and shopping back to the tent on foot. When they finished partying at 2am they proceeded to fly around on there quad bikes and woke our kids up also.

 July 2004
Site looked rather run down with a large proportion of seasonal pitches . What was very off putting is there is approx 20 caravans supposed to be in storage that are occupied at the weekends. These are sited close together (4 foot apart). The noise & behavour of the occupants left a lot to be desired. Wont be rushing to revisit again

 September 2004
Disappointed. The site is tatty and run-down. The toilets/shower block were thick with cigarette smoke as was the reception area. The camping area was strewn with litter including an abandoned sofa! A large metal cargo container, stuffed with rubbish, sits by the entrance to the woods. The children's play area (no swings, slides, climbing frame) was tatty and the pirate boat had steps missing from it making it impossible for young children to use. The road leading into the wooded area where tents are pitched was heavily rutted and could only be accommodated with a 4x4.

Popular Choice in this Area

Laverick Hall Caravan Site - Lancaster

This touring site offers spectacular views towards the Lake District and Morecambe Bay, with Blackpool Tower also in the distance, yet located just over 3 miles from Junctions 34 and 35 of the M6 motorway. Visitors will find just 10 electric pitches for motorhomes and touring caravans, with access to the superfast Wifi, toilets with sinks, a shower room and fresh water taps. Dogs are allowed and there is a designated field for walks.

The local village of Halton is a mile away from the site, offering a convenience store, newsagent, pharmacy, post office and fish and chip shop. The market town of Carnforth is 3 miles away, with its train station (featured in the 1945 film Brief Encounter) and supermarkets. The seaside resort of Morecambe is within 5 miles and the Lake District is only 35-minutes drive. Find out more here

 August 2004
We visited this site in august 2004 for a 3 day break. The lakes, golfing facilities were very good with a nice pub at night time, we didn't eat in it though. There was a park for the younger children (quite good). But to our dissapointment the toilet/shower facilities were horrendous, they were only cleaned 1 day of our 3 day visit and they forgot to put toilet paper in them. We were very dissapointed in Leisure Lakes and feel it is a shame such a large site had such problems with cleanliness.

 August 2004
Seeking a place to stay for the bank holiday weekend we viewed a few sites in this area.
The tent pitches were a choice of 'in the woods' - sounded exiting - or on a rally field. Our first sight in the woods was that of numerouse bags of rubbish left on the pitches and even the waste disposal / fenced area was full to bursting with bin bags of rubbish - about 5ft tall!!!!! we turned the car around and drove off site!
Giving it a second chance we pulled onto the rally field on the way out and found it too bumpy with puddles for tenting and drove off.

 June 2004
We stayed at the Leisure lakes for a family weekend in June and were dispointed with the general cleanliness. The toilets were very dirty and not working. The urinals were blocked and the whole block had an un-cared for feel. There was litter around the site.

At night the "security" road around the tents on Quad bikes, waking up the children!

It was a real pity as the site is in a lovely location and Southport was great. We will be looking for another site in the area for when we return!

 Permanent
About 3 years ago, my family went to the Leisure Lakes, and chose a permanent pitch. We still go now and there are still excellent facilities and entertainment always being on. The toilets are always clean, with 3 showers. There is also a Clubhouse and on Saturday nights it really comes alive with music, laughter and guns! Yes,the Pheonix Rebels.
There are 2 lakes with excellent fishing facilities and a brilliant park for the young childeren to play on and for the older ones there is a games room with Pool Table and challenging Arcade Games. There are friendly staff who are always very happy to help with any problems. Overall - Leisure Lakes is great!

A nice quiet clean site. Plenty of good fishing pegs on one of the 2 lakes. There is no shop however the wardens office does sell a few groceries. Showers and wash rooms are clean but worth noting you will require 20p for the shower. There is a bar which also does bar meals
