Had a weekend break on this site which we picked for its location to the town. The wardens are very friendly and efficient and we checked in, paid and pitched in minutes.
The site is sprawling as it adjoins the racecourse and was never going to cosy or picturesque. Having said that, there is plenty of well maintained grassland, trees around the edges and views to the countryside. The facilities are in the racecourse buildings and are very clean and well maintained. Showers are free and hot.
The walk to town takes 25 minutes on an old train line that meets the river and feels very rural. It starts across the racecourse, in part on grass but other options are available on tarmac.
Taking a different route back you can walk past the local pub (The Salmon Tail 3/4 mile on the flat). The pub has good beer, is dog friendly and has well reviewed food, although we didn't eat there.
Aside from the obvious Shakespeare links, Stratford is a very pleasant town with numerous excellent pubs and eateries, many of which are dog friendly.
In particular Loxleys does breakfast lunch and dinner and we also enjoyed Vintners, The Opposition Bistro, Brakspear's Town House and the Keys and Kitchen pub.
We will return to the town and the site.

Perfect for what we wanted - one night's stay, near to Stratford upon Avon. Only a mile to walk to town centre from campsite. Toilets/showers immaculately clean. Lots of space. And great for dog walking. And very helpful site management couple. Thank you.

Very large featureless site on the racecourse. In my opinion a bit bleak but may be better in the summer. Very clean toilet and shower block but when I tried to have a shower I inserted my 50p and nothing happened. There were no instructions so I have no idea whether or not I did something wrong. This needs rectifying. Our reason for staying was to go to the theatre in town which is a good 40 minute walk away. We would have liked somewhere a bit closer. Overall impression of the site - it'll do. That's about the best I can say. The showers should be free at this price. Too steep for what was on offer.

Management response: Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, we are sorry the park did not meet with your satisfaction. |

We stayed two nights and at £15 a night we thought this was excellent value. Just to set the scene, this is a race course and the campsite is an addition, so in that respect, we felt that it did what it said on the tin. Electricity, water, grass cut and pitches with sufficient space - shown by the campsite people. The toilets were clean - there was always toilet paper and hand towels. It ain't the Ritz - but for £15 a night I think this was excellent value for money - a lovely walk into Stratford upon Avon, plenty of room to let the dog for a walk.
We had ACSI and this gave us a discount - we were pleased that this campsite didn't consider the two UK camping/caravan clubs as an advantaqe. We've come to the conclusion that nor do we. We're tired of bossy wardens and high costs. The friendly welcome we got from the people at the Stratford Racecourse campsite was brilliant.

In the summer holidays we always try to get out at weekends camping to different places.
This site comes very low on our list of good campsites. Reasons.
In the gents toilet area, there was no soap for the 2 nights we stayed, bins in the wc area were overflowing and toilets weren't the cleanest.
Site was a bit dull & boring with no real views
After the music festival ended at 11pm Saturday night, we had drunk people walking through the site shouting loudly and one even came over to our awning and started shaking it.
I wouldn't go again.

Nice Quiet site in lovely surroundings.
The wardens very friendly & helpful
Toilet facilities clean--50pence for a shower.
Ran out of hand towel in gents & not replaced for 2 days although an air dryer available.
Bit of a distance to carry the waste water to elsan point from caravan. Fresh water near to caravans.
Plenty of bins around although not emptied & very soon overflowing.
Stratford a twenty minute walk by road but half that by cutting through the back of the racecourse.
Two pubs short walk from site.
The one near Anne Hathaway, s cottage very nice & good meals although not cheap.
All in all we enjoyed our trip & would go again

My partner and myself stayed on this campsite for a week in August. This was our first visit to Stratford, but will not be our last. On arrival we were welcomed by the wardens, and provided with information regarding the site and a useful map detailing a riverside walk into Stratford from the site (about 25 mins). We were then escorted to our pitch, where the warden helped me pitch. The pitches themselves are very large, most with EHU and flat, this provides good access. Looking at previous reviews there seemed to be grass mowing issues, in this case the grass was very low and overall the park looked very good.
The facilities are a bit basic but always kept clean, and well stocked with loo paper, soap etc.
On the restaurant front there are plenty in the town, however just outside the campsite there is 'Chutneys', the best Indian take away or sit down ever! A short drive away we went to The Four Alls, the food there is of the highest quality and at a good price. This is truly a hidden gem of a campsite, and in a great location, we will return!

Stayed here for last 2 weeks in June and overall very disappointed. Did not get off to the best start when our allocated pitch had not been mown, not good when we stopping for 14 nights, and around a 10 min walk each way from all facilities except clean water fill up, almost a half mile round trip. CDP is open and in full view, many people camped close around it, grey water could only be emptied here. Showers were 50p slot but did not use as they are very basic and toilets and showers were never very clean. One other strange thing was there were no urinals in the gents
Everything quiet until first friday and after 2 weekends of festivals at Uttoxeter there was another one here, yet again loud music until the early hours on both nights, I had checked the racecourse and caravan web sights and nothing was listed. Checked with the racecourse if anything planned for 2nd weekend, if so we would leave early, all I got was a rather curt letter back 4 days later saying not but if I wanted to leave early take it up with wardens. The wardens by the way were very friendly and helpful.
The location of the site is fantastic, 20 mins walk along a path and your in Stratford, riverside walks also but a little longer. Very busy with tourists so we stayed riverside. Was there while the boat festival was on and it was very enjoyable though very busy. Lots of paths and trails close by. If your a racing enthusiast then this site is for you. The horses arrive through the site, the stables are very close and easily viewable and the horses walk through part of the site pre and post race.
All this and £17 a night during mid season. Come on Stratford this site could be so much better and I guess the fact that there never more than a few units on at any time was indicative of facilities. Not one we will be back to which is a great shame.

Stayed over at the site for a couple of nights as the food festival was on. Friendly greeting and our level hardstanding pitch was close to the reception. The fresh water tap was very handy so we did not have to move to fill the tank. As mentioned the toilet and showers where a distance but this was not an issue. The site was busy so the facilities were well used, but non the less clean and everything worked as it should have done. It was nice to see the heating was on as it was a bit chilly one morning.
Good location for a walk into the town, but on the day there was a shuttle bus running so even better.
A great 2 days and will return
