Unfortunate to have had very heavy rain during stay at this site that lead to waterlogged pitches. The hard standings comprise plastic grass frames not gravel pitches and work in dry/moderate weather but create holding cells for water in torrential downpours.
Location of site adjoins River Ribble and lots of walking/cycling directly from site. Clitheroe centre easy walk just over a mile and has good shops, Booths, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Llidl supermarkets.
Pub 5 minutes’ walk over bridge offering good selection of beers, wine and food.
Site advertises that it has Wi-Fi connection, but the warden advised this is only available in a limited number of pitches close to the reception.
No shop on site for even basic provisions. Toilet block is functional but in need of modernisation.
Facilities block with family bathrooms, laundry and wash up. Toilet and facilities block central to site.
Municipal leisure pool and sport facilities/gym etc. Opposite site entrance.
Ideal family friendly site with lots of activities in the immediate area – even in wet weather !

Just returned from 2 nights here. The wardens where lovely, took us to our pitch and helped to put the van straight onto it, which was much appreciated. Nice location with a public park and river right next to the site.
The only thing I didn't like was even though the park and river were lovely to look at, you would not let your children go there on their own as the river had a strong current going down it, it could be potentially dangerous.
Also, even though the other campers where friendly enough I felt a bit under pressure to keep the kids inside as they were being frowned upon playing next to our van.

Visited this site for 4 days as part of rally. Slightly sloping pitch was allocated but we were all together in a very pleasant hedge and tree lined area.
Neat and tidy site next to an excellent river area with walks and a miniature railway for kids. Unfortunately the Cafeteria and Pitch and Putt have disappeared, an Ice Cream Van visits though. Wash area and showers little dated but very clean. Two blocks together didn't seem to be enough but never had to wait.
Plenty to see around the Town of Clitheroe. Pendle Hill, pleasant villages, great pubs and lovely landscapes in all directions.
Thoroughly enjoyed Clitheroe, good but small market on Saturday (do try the sausages!). Small shops abound but Tescos and Sainsbury's avaialble as well as the 'high class' Booths.
Will definitely come to the site again and can recommend it for all. 30 minutes walk into town by the way but mostly along a main road.

Just returned from a relaxing break at this site, first time at a 'Camping & Caravanning Club' site.
I turned up having not booked but as it was midweek they were able to find me a pitch, one of the staff kindly cycled to my pitch as I followed in my car, you don't normally get that.
I would have to say the site seemed predominantly caravans but there are pitches for tents with or without EHU and at reasonable prices.
The toilet block and cleaning facilities where clean and modern, entry by code (supplied at reception) as is the barrier to enter the site.
Children's play area and parks within yards of site. Football pitches about 5 mins walk as is the local pub (just over the bridge) but be careful as there is no footpath for 100yrds.
Clitheroe is about a mile or so from the site where there is a couple of supermarkets plus plenty of other shops and pubs
All in all a great site

What a lovely site, surrounded by trees and next to the river. Very helpful staff and clean facilities.
Stumbled on this site by mistake after walking away from a near campsite (Edisford Bridge Campsite) where the owner was rude beyond belief!
Even though we had not booked there was no problem with getting a pitch. The friendly chap jumped on his bike to take us to our pitch and was really helpful.
Facilities were nice and clean with a security code to the door for safety.
Would recommend this site though.

We had a weekend here and enjoyed it very much.
The staff (2 couples) were very friendly and showed us to our pitch soon after arrival. Our pitch was large enough and had EHU. It was in a field off the main circle which the campsite sits on (a circular 1 way road with pitches either side of the road).
The site is next to the river which offers dog walks for the dog owners amongst us and also close by was a good pub which served good food and was also dog friendly- go to road, turn left and it's the other side of the bridge, near and convenient.
Toilet block was average, seen better and worse, it was never too busy and was cleaned to a good standard, not as modern as some sites though.
Clitheroe is a nice enough market town and the surrounding country side and villages are very appealing to walkers and outdoor enthusiasts.
Would be happy to use again.

Just returned from a three day break at Clitheroe site.
Beautiful site and friendly staff, stream nearby if you like fishing.
Plenty of pubs in Clitheroe that serve good food and dog friendly.
Site is about a 20min walk from centre of Clitheroe. Booths supermarket 15mins away.
Only two showers and two washrooms in each toilet blocks men and women's, but not a problem never had to wait.Very clean and tidy.
Park just 5mins away with great play area for children.

Stayed on this site for 2 nights, we were directed to a pitch on the lower level which was a grid in the grass but was extremely wet and muddy due to heavy rain the day before. It would be nice if they had proper hard standings as these pitches are not ideal in the wet weather.
The toilet block although clean needs up-dating and there are only 3 toilets and 2 showers in the mens and ladies which is not really enough for the size of the site. There were no times for cleaning of these facilities on the doors and we were herded out of them when the warden decided to clean them, giving you no time to finish what you were doing! The town of clitheroe is about 30 minutes walk away although you can get a taxi to pick you up from the site entrance for £3.00 each way if you don't want to walk. Although there is wi-fi available on the site you can only get it in the top part of the site and not at the bottom which is where the majority of the pitches are. The reception is only open from 9 to 10am and 4 to 5pm daily but the wardens can be found in the motorhome next to the office. Clitheroe itself is a relatively nice town, with a couple of supermarkets, shops, cafes and restaurants and the usual take-aways. There is also a station in the town with trains going to Blackburn where you can change go to Preston, Manchester etc. The cost for a family of four to go to Preston was £22.50 return mid-week. As this was our first stay on a camping and caravanning club site it is hard to make a comparison with other sites but I am not sure that I would return to this one.

A very nice site indeed, usual C&CC standard, well laid out and toilet blocks not far from any pitch. We had the hardstanding type of pitch with plastic grid buried in the grass which had good drainage but was difficult to put up side awning as even rock pegs were hard to get in.
Only criticism I have is that the motorhome service bay has tap and drainage on left side and as road around site is one-way I could not use this as my water fill and drainage are on other side so we had to resort to waste tank and water carrier. As we were there for only 2 nights this was not too inconvenient.
Clitheroe is lovely town and the walk from the site, although along a main road, is very pleasant.

Spent a lovely bank holiday in Clitheroe. Small quiet site just outside Clitheroe. The facilities on site are excellent and there are parent and child rooms if you have small children which are great.
There are some beautiful places to visit near the site e.G Forest of Bowland. There are some very good pubs within walking distance serving home cooked meals at very reasonable prices.
