Just come back from a weekend at this site.
Pros : Clitheroe itself ( a lovely little town 10 mins walk away ). Location ( set just off the river Ribble ), Staff ( very friendly and helpful, typical Lancastrians ! ), well spaced pitches ( site was near capacity but didn't feel cramped )
Cons : Facilities ( poor water pressure in showers, no matter what time used the water was reduced to a trickle ), not enough toilets & showers when the site is almost full ( ladies & gents ). Boggy pitch on bottom field due to recent weather but no alternative if EHU is req.
Conclusion : A lovely little site with great staff let down slightly by the poor facilities ( clean but inadequate ). Will probably return but not during peak time.

What a great site. Very friendly and helpful staff and the site is in a good location next the river and park.
We were shown where all the facilities were upon arrival and shown to our pitch.
We never had to queue to use the facilities which were spotless. There was plenty of hot water for showers and washing up. The reception is also a small shop.
The pitches were a good size and nicely spaced apart.
The site is near enough to walk into Clitheroe, although this was on path along the main road. That said, you do pass a couple of pubs and a good chippy which I can recommend! If you choose to drive there seem to be plenty of car parks.
There are walks along the river which we plan to do on our next visit.
The Castle and park grounds were great for kids with plenty to keep them occupied for hours.
While we were there, there was a medieval sword fighting display which was free.
A good area for dog walking too.
A mobile chippy visits the site at the weekend and the ice cream van never seemed far away.
There is a miniature railway at the park next door which was 50p a go. There is also a swimming pool and sports centre just across the road.
Would recommend and have already booked our next visit for a few weeks time. Made a request for the same pitch and told it should not be a problem.

Used this site a couple of times and won't be using it again.
Toilets are now desperate for investment.
The matting described as 'hardstanding' needs replacing with proper gravel - which would enhance the looks of the place.
I actually found it an expensive place to stay and I felt I didn't get value for my money

My second visit here and second review (see two years ago).
Well on the campsite itself the last review pretty much stands. A lovely tranquil site, nicely set out with very helpful owners. The toilet block has been updated since my last visit. Constantly hot showers and perfectly clean. There were only two toilets and showers in the block but never had to queue (and there is a separate block which I guess they open when its busy).
The site is well positioned for touring both the Dales and Trough of Bowland if you have a car with you.
Clitheroe is a lovely little town, with a proper town centre (independent shops)and a great little market. If you are staying you must get sausages from Cowmans sausage shop and we also bought a fantastic game pie and Manchester tart from a stall on the market. Loads of coffee shops and cafes.
The train station will allow you to pop up to the Dales and Manchester if you are not driving and there are regular bus services up to Skipton or Bowland.
Pubs wise The Eddisford Bridge pub next door to the site does good food and real ales and is dog friendly and if you like proper pubs then The New Inn just below the Castle is unaltered in years, does a range of real ales and has lots of interesting little rooms. Being a proper pub though it does not do food (be warned).
Altogether a good choice for a short break particularly mid week when its not so busy.
There will definitely be a third visit.

Went for our first weekend camping of the season. The site is really good, excellent facilities and spotless. Location ideal for walking into Clitheroe town centre. The local pub, The Edisford Bridge pub does great meals and really good value. Will definitely go to this site again.

Stayed here for 4 nights at Easter. Lovely Site Manager's, two of the nicest people I've ever met.
Firstly, the hardstandings are proper hardstandings, they are a grid in grass, but they had good drainage after the bit of rain.
The toilets / showers were always clean, one block was closed for maintenance.
The area down by the river is brilliant, play area, little mini railway. It gets very busy during the weekends / bank holidays, it's used as a local picnic spot.
Clitheroe itself has everything you need supermarkets, takeaway etc.
You can walk to the Edisford Bridge pub, they do gorgeous meals. Try the steak pie, to die for.
Sports Centre / Swimming pool opposite site.
All in all good site to stay at and explore the surrounding area. We will be back.

Lovely site, with friendly welcoming staff. Good toilet and shower facilities, plus laundry and dishwashing facilities. Good size pitches. I was delighted to see real easter 'bunnies' here! Great place for kids as there is a good play ground within a couple of minutes from the site - but keep an eye on the kids as the site is also very near the river-which is great for walks.
There is a municipal swimming pool a few minutes from the site - we didn't go but I guess it allows visitors. Clitheroe is within abut 20 minutes walking distance and has all necessary shops, restaurants and pubs. There is a pub about 5 minutes from the site that serves decent pub grub. We had a brilliant Easter weekend here-even the weather stayed good for us , and had some excellent leisurely walks. Highly recommend a visit.

Nicely surprised by this site. Hidden away just outside Clitheroe this site is I think a gem. Facilities include toilet / shower blocks, laundry and dish washing facilities, all immaculate. Site is adjacent to a small play area with playing field and also River Ribble which provides a fantastic area to picnic, watch / feed ducks etc. On arrival it was very wet and we were offered the opportunity to cancel (tried to ring us day before but we were out). We stayed and Dave the warden gave us great advice on where / how to pitch. Weather was absolutely awful whilst we were there and the slightly sloping pitches did get a bit soggy but only to be expected. Site is very well placed for exploring the Pendle Witch country and Clitheroe is a small but nice town (do try the Wild Boar sausages from the sausage shop in Clitheroe). All in all if this is a prime example of a C&CC site then I am very impressed and will visit others, will definitely return to Clitheroe.

Had a great stay at this site. Staff very friendly as were the other campers. Pleasant walk into Clitheroe were there are lots of shops. Walks up the river very pleasant watching the fishing. Facilities were being improved with new tiling etc. But were already clean and tidy. A little hard to find but worth the trouble. And a bit of a wait to book in so maybe best not to arrive for 12.00

What a great place for kids and dogs alike. We chose this site almost at random (of course with the guidance of reviews on this excellent site!) and were so impressed.
The site is an ex-local authority one, so whilst it has all the signs of a club site, there are a few oddities.
The toilet blocks are at the top of the site but plenty of short-cuts and it’s not that big of a hill. We were on a pitch at the very bottom of the site, these appeared to be more level than the others. And were the honeycomb style of hardstanding.
The wardens could not be more helpful and attentive – the best tip given was to take a walk to the Edisford Bridge pub (10-15 minutes away). This child and dog friendly pub served excellent homemade food at really reasonable prices (the food is only served at restricted times during the week)
The park adjoining the site was wonderful, just a small play park that did not appear to suffer from teenagers ripping it apart (perhaps due to the distance from the actual town). The river quite calm and has gently sloping pebble beaches, so great for children and dogs. There is also a volunteer run miniature railway in the park, which apparently runs most weekends during the summer – alas not while we were there.
Did not spend too much time in Clitheroe, but a lovely, friendly and clean place. Serviced by three supermarkets (Booths [excellent], Sainsbury’s and Tesco)
The only downside is the access, you can queue for quite sometime if you get behind a number of arrivals coming down the drive - but there is little that anyone can do with the limited space
