Great campsite. We arrived late afternoon on Friday and there were only a few other tents set up. Very flat field. Showers are a bit basic but that's kind of what I expected for what it cost to stay. There is a village about 5 minutes drive from the site that sells anything you could possibly need. I am planning on going back a few times this year.

We've just got back from here and we had a fantastic time. Though when we first arrived we had to be pulled through the mud with the farmers tractor. He would save himself a lot of time and effort if he lay down some hardcore on the path to get in,as its treacherous enough without this added obstacle. The roads are sooooo narrow! Just beware of oncoming traffic as there's hardly any passing places on the road in.But once you do get in its a gem of a place.
There are great walks surrounding the site, and the scenery is outstanding. My 3 children went in the river for a paddle, and chased the sheep around the field.
The farm tour was a great experience for my 7 year old he loved holding and feeding the baby lamb.
The toilets and showers are always clean.
There's a cafe and shop but we never used it.
The only downside I can comment on is the noise that came from the tent field,a bunch of chavs in their full tracksuits decided to blast their hideous music out at 8 o'clock in the morning.Thank god a wasn't in that field or I would have cracked up. I don't understand what makes them think we all want to listen to their crap.
Apart from this the site itself is def worth avisit. We are looking forward to our next visit, just have to remember to pack some earplugs though.

This is a great site. Very basic, allows a camp fire, converted barn shower and toilet block, basic shop but has all the emergency food and some extras, pitch is great with no boundaries, loads of room to run around, my 3 year old son loved the animals, the owner was helpful, friendly and always wished us good morning/afternoon. We booked at 10am and arrived at 3pm. I'll go there again.

A very large site with no need to book.
We were late setting off on Friday and didn't arrive until after 6pm.
If using sat nav keep your eyes peeled for the brown road sign marked 'holme open farm' pointing right and ignore sat nav from here or it will take you over a mountain, through fields, opening and closing gates with a bridge to cross that is so narrow we had to fold the mirrors on transit van to cross it!
5 of us braved the September climate this time, it was damp and misty when we arrived. The lady of the farm took our £20 for 2 nights and pointed to the field. It was very open and I was quietly dreading the weather worsening!
We picked a spot by the river set up camp and lit a fire, by this time it was raining.
We didn't seem to notice the rain after a steak and a few ciders and turned in around 2am.
We were woken on Saturday morning by sunshine and that was the picture for the rest of our stay.
The toilets and showers are free and usable though plenty of cobwebs etc due to it been a converted barn.
The field was very flat and well drained but very open.
There is a cafe/shop on site that caters for all the basics (milk, bread, firewood etc).
The farm tour was worth the money and the farmer filled us in on some walks and interesting sights on his land.
Quite a lively site with most people up after midnight, small fires allowed, recycling encouraged, animals of all shapes and sizes everywhere.
All in all a good place to be, our second favourite this season.

We arrived on Friday and planned just to stop for 2 nights and ended up stopping 3. There was a group of us so we had 2 tents and one stayed in a caravan. Good thing we all could stop together the caravan wasn't separated from our tents. The field where we stopped was plenty big enough and well drained, it was great having a fire at night. There were plenty of families on site and it was not to noisy hence our group stopping up till 4 in morning! David the farmer was very nice and the farm tour was great for the kids they loved it, and at 10 pound a night for tent and also the same for a caravan a cheap weekend in lovely surroundings, the only thing I could say is if they could spend a little time on doing the showers and toilets up. Other than that a fantastic campsite which is very friendly where your made to feel welcome. Will return soon

A lovely peaceful campsite with adequate facilities. The toilet block is clean, showers wonderful and plenty of hot water. Layout a little basic-all in one building-but great for families. The field was completely flat and as there were only 3 other tents, we had good choice of pitch. Loved the camp fire. Farmer has wood for £4 bag - kids love sitting round it.
There is a small playground with swings and slide - all new and safe - could do with a bench being put in as children need to be supervised! The farm offers tours at a reasonable cost, but due to bad weather we missed this (not available Tues) Lovely nature trail along river (still very safe) and badger watching at night.
Only downside was the weather. Nothing we can do about that! Will be back soon!

Camping like it used to be!
Access to the site is along more than one mile of narrow lane, hence no caravans or large motorhomes. The site itself consists of a very large slightly sloping field. There are no obviously marked out pitches, but generally tents were pitched around the perimeter and were all large family tents.
The fees were very reasonable at £10 pounds per night for tents sleeping more than 4 people. The field is next to Holme Farm which contains an excellent cafe. The farmer/owner and cafe staff were very welcoming and conduct tours of the farm at a cost of £3.50 per adult and £2.00 per child - a little expensive.
Facilities were clean but rather limited and not particularly private - a strip wash in the gents would have got you arrested! In our opinion, the toilets and showers would need to be improved and expanded if you were to consider the site for longer stays. The scenery if fantastic, but a word of warning. Though the town of Sedburgh is only 1 mile away as the crow flies you cannot easily cross the river (Rawthy?)making the walk over three miles.
Would confidently visit again, but only for a couple of nights until toilets improve.

Had a great time here. The campsite offers the basic camping experience as it is a real working farm - large field with plent of places to pitch. Highlight was the tour of the farm ( about £3 and free for under 3's.) The farm has lambs, sheep , goats, pigs, a shetland pony and also tiny chicks that you can cuddle! The farm hands out bottles of milk so that the kids can feed the lambs - cute!
They also have a few toy/mini tractors in a converted barn with haystacks top form a small track that the kids can drive round and round - sweet! My 3 year old loved them!
There is a small shop in a converted barn that serves food and even make up children's boxes for £2.50 with sandwiches and drinks, apples etc. I bought some bacon and a loaf which was just normalsho prices - the shop also sells ice cream and cakes and afternoon teas which is a nice touch.
There is a stream a short walk from the field and the kids can paddle but would need supervising as is gets deep.
The toilet/ washing block could do with a bit of an update / change as it is one block with one entrance that splits into both male and female (just doesn't seem right as you can see the mens urinal whilst washing up!) it also houses the washing up sink , 3 showers (1 for the men and 2 for ladies)and there are 4 toilets for women.
The only really negative thing I would say is about the farm rules - you have to supervise the kids everywhere, even on the park (which we could see from the tent) - the eldest is 7 and we had to go with her everytime they wanted to go on the swings. Apart from that, we had a fire going each evening and had a great time!
The farm tour (about £3) was really great - Me and my friend had more fun than the kids feeding the animals! Would go again

Just got back from 3 days here, wow what a site. First ever time camping with parents who are late 60s and our two kids who are 13 / 17, we all enjoyed it. Pitches are on large flat field and there are lovely walks and stream. Site is basic, toilets and wash, 1male, 3 female and 1 male shower, 2 female, all in same sort lean to building. Very clean lady who runs site with son and daughter in law who are so lovely and make you most welcome. Camp fires are allowed and they sell big bags of wood for 4 pound and the cost of 10 pound for large tent, no hidden extras what more can you ask for. Would have stayed whole week but the weather was so windy. Also have cafe and shop on site selling the basics but still gives that little extra touch. Little park for the kids and lots of animals for the kids to walk round and see, defo be going back here

We had just one night at Holme Open Farm. We were the only campers in the large field so had the pick of the pitch. After pitching our tents we went on the farm tour which was lovely, the farmer is very friendly and helpful. The kids enjoyed feeding the lambs and calves and we were all able to have a cuddle of the lambs if we wanted. There is some goats on site which roam around little characters they are. We shut them in and they came straight back out after us.
The farmers wife runs the cafe so if you fancy a snack and a coffee its a nice spot to sit. We also went on the nature trail, we picked the longer walk and it was lovely, well worth it although a little muddy but added to the adventure. We were able to light our own fire at night had a bit of a struggle with the bought wood to burn it but the wood which the farmer left around the field was great. Was a little cold this time of year to camp but loved every minute of it will return again. This isnt a site to go if you want lots to do its a quiet site with basic facilities to wash etc but we loved it and cant wait to go again.
