This site is a little gem. Just got back after 3 days at the farm in very bizarre weather. Us and our friends were the only campers daft enough to brave it.
The camping field itself is big and very flat and no problems with pegging down but a little exposed when the wind gets up. Having the open fire is great and you're free to collect fallen wood from around the farm. They do sell logs but we didn't need to get any. Water was lovely and hot but didn't try the showers. Not many toilets/showers and only one washing up sink which I would imagine you will have to queue for at busier times.
The kids loved the farm tour and at this time of year got to bottle feed some lambs and calves - they didn't want to come home. The farmer is a very pleasant chap and really puts himself out to help - especially when my car got stuck in the field!. They are in the process of building a childrens play area and all around the site you can see they are trying to update things. The nature walk is really worth a go - lovely views along the river and you have a choice of 2 distances.
This is a lovely relaxed campsite and great value for money - £10 per night and didn't charge for dog or gazebo. We will definitely return again this year in dryer weather.

Just visited this site stayed for the Bank Holiday weekend there were a party of nearly 50 of us and we did get together around the camp fire. Field good - grass could have done with cut, toilet block very basic, ladies, gents, showers and washing up sink all in one area! Close to a stream and some of the braver kids did venture and have a paddle / swim. A little shop on site with the basics need to do a shop before you go as there aren't any larger supermarkets around and the pub was around 3.5 mile away not good if you have a pram, kids who don't like like walking or walking difficulties. The farmer is very laid back and allowed the children to go and see animals on a tour around the farm at a small cost. Right in the middle and some gorgous scenery and a great base for walkers / ramblers. Just a word of warning the lane to the site is a one track lane and goodness know what would happen if you met some on going the opposite way. Would return for a quick couple of nights away from it all.

Just returned from a lovely weekends camping at Holme Farm. It was really busy and the farmer said its the busiest its ever been! There's a nice cafe that sells milk/eggs etc as well as sandwiches/drinks and cakes. Lots of animals wandering about and a proper 'farm' feel to the place. The campsite is on a massive level field in a peaceful location with no lights for miles (take a torch or two!). The approach road is a single track one with passing places and the farm is well sign posted. There are a few pubs near by and a super market in Kirkby Lonsdale (there's a car boot on a Sunday there as well!) The site was a bit noisy at night but this didn't go on too late. Camp fires were roaring and wood can be bought from the farmer or collected in the woods. There's plenty of fields to walk in and a lovely shallow river for a paddle. Dogs are allowed and must be kept under control due to the animals (we took 3!) and there are no strict rules at this site regarding noise/dogs/kids so it may not suit everyone and the 'inconsiderate campers' might end up spoiling it for others. Facilities are basic and were crowded this weekend. 2 showers/1 washing up sink and 3 women's and 1 men's toilet (plus trough!) Water taps are difficult to find as well. Get up early or go late to get a shower (it was hot after a bit of adjustment). The farmer also encourages recycling of your bottles and cans and was really friendly showing kids around the farm as well as doing all the other jobs associated with running a farm and campsite! There's a lovely feel to this site and its location is stunning. We are going back the next free weekend!

Just got back today Site is as it was when we went there in 1995, 16 quid for two nights. Still well basic though, where you go for a "no wash weekend". Mr & Mrs farmer were great, nice cafe. Shame they should have split the spends on the shower block. Plus point camp fires. (#4 quid for half a bag.Nowt if you collect them on your way) Noise till 4 am. And also. My two aged 3 (girl) 5 (boy) got stung by the huge wasp nest at the badgers sett, which we was advise to go to by Mr farmer. So overall iIt was top 15 years ago when we wanted to "rave on" But now, no good for my children. Verdict:not be going back

Went there this weekend (27th & 28th) it was a bit scary getting there towing a caravan! This is only recommended to experienced towers or brave people! Had we known what it was like I don't think we would have braved it as we have only had it for 3 weeks! The road goes to single track and there aren't any signs pointing to the camp site so we were wondering whether we were going the right way, there was no way we could turn round! Anyway, it was all worth it in the end because the campsite is gorgeous. I loved the views and all the animals on there, they are surprisingly friendly, the animals that is! The toilets and showers are basic but do the job, only one of the two showers were working at the time and after a warm weekend smelt like portaloos! But the positive aspects of the site far outweigh the negatives. This site is a little treasure and has plenty of room for lots of tents and caravans! Will definitely go there again. You can't get bored on this site with the walks and views.

Just returned today from Holme open farm. We pitched right in the corner it was great to have a camp fire. Beware we collected some wood from the road side and were startled to see a man on a quad asking us where we got the dead wood from. When we explained we were told not to do it again as it wasnt on the campsite oops. The other people at holme open farm were warm and friendly and you are quite welcome to take the kids around the farm to look at the animals. They have just recently opened a cafe for £2.50 they do a childs lunch bag which was more than worth the money and it helped alot as the weather wasnt great. One thing I must say is that the showers and toilet are basic and do need some upgrading we are definetly going back here the kids loved it

Just got back from Holme Farm, had a really good time, only £8 a night for an 8 berth tent. Went during the week and we had the field to ourselves. Facilities are basic but clean, and modern, but with only 2 showers might struggle during busy periods. The owners are friendly and you are more than welcome to walk about the farm and the land. A word of warning if you do travel here, be careful what route you pick as there is a very narrow bridge nearby which we only managed to cross in a punto.

This site provides great basic camping, the scenery is beautiful around the farm. The facilities are basic but the shower was lovely and warm. The farmer was friendly and made us welcome. It was great having our own campfire, the only thing I would say is take an axe to go and find your own wood as the bags of wood you can buy are quite expensive for what you get. We'll definitely be going back soon!

We visited this site for the first time in August and we took our kids, they had a great time, the farmer took the kids around the working farm. The farmer and his family were very helpful and this is the only camp site I know where you can go in the woods near by to collect fire wood, and you can have a proper camp fire. There also is a nice small river behind the camp site where you can go for a nice peaceful walk or let your kids play for hours. There is hot water and toilets/showers which are fine, also you are 10 mins drive to Sedbourgh where there is a Spar shop and other shops ect .I will go camping here again. £8 a night with nice surroundings THIS IS A MUST!

This is a really relaxed site! Campfires are allowed and there is no pressure to keep your noise down! There is a river near by for swimming, and there are pubs not too far away. There are some great hills for walking and some beautiful scenery. It is a working farm, and kids can actually see and touch the animals. The showers etc look fairly new and are okish, but could be better. Will definitely visit again soon!
