We booked late for the early May bank holiday and the site was quiet. The owners do not insist on you staying 3 nights over the bank holiday which is great. We had a warm welcome and found the site to be very well kept and while facilities are not new they have been very well maintained. The toilets, showers and washing up areas were always spotless and hot water was available all of the time (no tokens required, hairdryers take a 20p). The campsite only allows adults in tents (canine children are allowed!) and you can pitch your tent anywhere you like. There is a mill stream next to the pitches which attracts lots of wildlife. Our dog was kept amused watching the squirrels and birds hopping in and out of the trees. At night we heard owls close by and watched bats somersaulting overhead. The location is fantastic being next door to Wookey Hole Caves and Ebbor Gorge which is a lovely walk. The village has a small shop and cafe which opens most days until 6pm. Also in the village is a social club and pub where visitors are made to feel welcome. Further afield you can get into Wells by car or cycle and Glastonbury and Street are also close by. There are also nature reserves among the levels which are worth visiting to see the abundance of visiting birds. All in all a lovely site which we would recommend and visit again.

This was our second visit to the site, and again we were not disappointed. We arrived to a warm welcome from the owner and found a pitch close to the stream.
The site is very well kept and the toilet and showers are spotless.
Homestead Park is in walking distance of Wookey Hole caves (where there is lots to look at even if you don't pay to go into the caves). There is a restaurant there if you want to vary where you eat and crazy golf, shop and penny arcade.
You can join the local social club, which along with very good prices, we found a warm welcome from the locals.
Also close by Cheddar and Wells. Wells Cathedral is well worth a visit and the adjoining street with houses with magnificent chimneys!
The bus stop is right by the caves car park where you can buy a day ticket to travel to Cheddar and Wells.
We will definitely be back, it is friendly, very well kept site in a beautiful location. It is a very relaxing, quiet campsite.(No electric hook up)

My partner and I went here April 09 for a couple of nights stay over the Easter period and what a lovely time we had away. This campsite allowed us to have a peaceful and relaxing time away.
Well presented, spacious land to choose where to pitch, no noise at all, a stream ran through with the occasional fish jumping out or ducks swimming along, and an owl at night were the only noises to be heard and this is what we enjoyed each evening.
Toilets and rubbish area was always very clean and toilet paper and paper towels always re-filled.
Wookey hole around the corner. Even my fiancée could walk it!
Shop around the corner.
Only thing was, we wanted to try the local pub, but meals were limited and fairly pricey, however short drive to wells, and lots of pubs to choose from.
We loved it so much were coming back for my birthday :)
Definitely recommend!

I make a trip to this site each year I like it so much !
Spotless washing/shower facilities. Local Shop/Cafe by the entrance Lovely local produce.
If you wish to get away from it all and just camp and enjoy your surroundings this is for you.
Plenty to do around about Wookey Caves, Wells, Cheddar, Glastonbury and not too far from the sea.
It was very quiet as just closing for the season during my visit or I would return later in the year.
So nice just to hear the stream and Owl's at night.
Very good walking country
Visit Ebbor Gorge It is stunning.

What a superb site! We were a little worried about going as it had been raining quite heavily for a few days and was still raining when we pitched, but the owner who was fantastic had said he had talked to the Gorge who control the water levels and that it should not rise any more and also gave us loads of info about what was on and where to go.
Others have commented on the site saying it is dated, lacking or basic all of which are true compared to some modern sites, but if you like the outdoor life and want to get back to how camping was then this site was probably made by Carlsburg !
The site itself is a bit dated in its facilities, but for me this is what made it special as the whole site and village is like stepping in to a time machine I was transported back to how I remember camping with my parents, the two shower blocks of which one was closed as it is the end of season with only five tents on site were clean and usable, hair dyer was twenty pence, plenty of hot water, a separate dish washing sink out side the block and plenty of bins, the owner kept every thing spotless during our stay.
Falling to sleep with the sound of of a bubbling stream all around us was brilliant with the two small rivers forming an island of the site, we heard at least three different types of owls calling during the night and this was the only sound, so peaceful !
There is loads to do in the area and in the three days we had there we barely scratched the surface, Wokey Hole has a shop, tea room, a social club that you can use and a very nice exclusive resteraunt all of which we used and were made warmly welcome, Wells is very attractive and has a beautiful cathedral and lots of choice for eating out. At Street you have got the Clarks Village which is shop a-holics dream with bargains galore, Glastonbury is the hippy town with lots of cycadelic, healing and witch craft shops although the prices are a joke we seen a pair of second hand leather trousers for £245.00 lol, Cheddar Gorge is well worth the time and money at £15.00 anything you don't get round being valid for ten years on the ticket.
On top of this you have the beautiful country side and picture post card villages with walks and cycling being well signed.
Would we go again. Absolutely, would we recommend it. ABSOLUTELY if you want to get back to the roots of camping and really relax without the children or modern conveniences this site is the BEST

This was the first time I had visited the site and it was chosen due to the area, it being adults only and the reviews that I had read.
The site was quite pretty and slightly boggy due to the weather which is just one of those things.
We found there to be little lighting once it grew dark and the facilities were quite dated. There were 2 showers which served both men and women. On the plus side they were quite large so 2 could shower together to save time queuing but unfortunately we found them to be quite dirty.
I could not comment on the surrounding area as we did not have time to investigate
I would not stay here again

Lovely peaceful site. Adults only and tents only which is just what I wanted. The only sounds at night were wildlife and the running streams to lull you to sleep.
Facilities were very clean, although only 2 showers but I only had to wait a few minutes and they were free, with seemingly endless hot water. Two toilet blocks and ample washing up sinks - yes one was open to the elements but the ones in the other block were covered.
Very friendly and helpful owners and will certainly return - partly because of the site and partly because of the area and wonderful walking in that part of the world.

Small campsite boundried by two rivers. Which is delightful as long as you like the sound of running water and don't mind soggy ground if it floods. We were there a day after the rivers had burst their banks and struggled to find somewhere to pitch initially. I'm sure this is very rare though. It was a beautiful, sheltered location set amongst mature trees.
The campsite is accessed through a small mobile home park and over a bridge on the first river.
The facilities are dated but were very clean and the showers were large enough for two and had plenty of hot water.
Wookey Hole is tiny but it has an excellent pub, serving restaurant food and offering table games. There is also a community club opposite the site entrance, if you want to escape the canvas.
We had a great stay, Cheddar Caves were wonderful and the camp site was lovely. It would have been even lovelier if it hadn't flooded the day before.

Lovely site with a beautiful stream running through it, we pitched next to it and loved to watch the fishes darting about.
I would recomend this highly, the showers were warm, clean, and free along with the rest of the toilet block. Not sure about the external washing up sink in the shower block but I dont know if the other ones are under cover? Slightly pricey for what it was however and they only take cash which can be a pain if you forget to stop at a cash point before you arrive.
The village was lovely, we avoided the caves and picked the Cheddar ones simply because we objected to paying for the other attractions which held little intrest to us. The area is really nice too, Wells and Glastonbury are lovely places, along with Cheddar and the gorge there (you must try the cave aged cheese, its beautiful!)
Defo reccomend this site and the area!

I spent a few nights at this loverly friendly site again. All tents so I did not have to listen to the Eastenders theme from any Caravans.
Toilets and showers spotlessly clean.
Local village shop 50 metres away Major shops in nearby Wells.Situated between the river Axe and a Mill stream. So the sound of softly running water.Popular with walkers on the Mendip way. I did not visit the Local pub(looks Pricy) as there is a Wooky Hole Social club by the entrance to the site. Wooky Hole caves 200 metres away so something to do if it is wet.
Plenty of wildlife on the campsite.
Even a friendly Ginger tabby
It was very quite this visit, close to the end of the season.
