This was our first experince at Moorhouse campsite & we enjoyed ourselves

We were warmly greeted by the owner on arrival

The pitches were generous & well drained.

Highly recommend the scrumpy available from the farmhouse.

This is the first site that we have come across that you have to pay for electricity at a modest expense of £10 for the 15 days that we were there.

Worth a mention are the free range peacocks & hens that wonder around the site

I stayed here so I could mountain bike on up on the Quantock Hills, which this campsite sits in the shadow.

This was my first camping experience and if all campsites are as well organised and located in such a great setting I have been missing out.

The facilities were easily within reach, the BBQ area, with fridge was well maintained and the shower and toilet blocks were clean and well positioned.

The owners were friendly and welcoming and we will be definitely returning.

This year we spent a lovely Easter weekend at Moorhouse Campsite in a wooden pod. Normally we camp but due to the chilly weather we chickened out.

On arrival we were greeted and shown to the pod. We were the first customers of this new way of camping so everyone was interested and came to have a look. We had seen and read about them on the internet but were equally curious. First impressions for us was how bright, spacious and WARM it was compared to our tent. And it had electricity, lights, two cupboards, underbunk storage, kettle, microwave and a fan heater. Absolute luxury for campers! Despite it being chilly we hardly used the latter. Also it had a useful veranda or open porch on the front which we left our shoes, wellies, our fold up table and chairs. Fellow campers and caravanners were impressed especially of the warmth on entering, these pods are insulated and are warm.

The campsite was lovely, very spacious and on flat even ground with hills in the background. The loos and showers were fairly central and easy to get to. There is an out door bbq patio area with a shelter that has a communal fridge and is enclosed by banks of herbs(labelled) which you could use.

The campsite is on a farm and there are chickens and peacocks waddling freely around, a field and a track for dog walks. The owners Jane and Terry are very friendly and helpful and work hard to keep the campsite spotless of which it is.

So if you want to try camping in a more comfortable and warm way, on a clean friendly site in the beautiful Quantocks, then book a pod at Moorhouse!

A great site. Clean facilities. There are picnic tables dotted around the tent area which is fantastic because we don't take a table with us. Well looked after site with very friendly owners.

Flat site with 2 areas for tents. Very quiet site with not much noise coming from any roads. Some lovely countryside. Fridge and freezer. 2 indoor sinks for washing up. Great place if you are walking in the surrounding area.

Kilve worth a visit and a lovely walk along the coast path. Delicious cream teas at the house next to the main car park for the beach.

Only stayed here over a weekend but would definitely go back for another weekend. We bought the cider made on the farm which is really tasty.

Kids loved the peacock which strolled around the yard.

We really love this site and it is very good value, we have a caravan, but the camping section is very good, with an under cover barbecue area with a fridge, there is also a bike wash, they even have herbs growing round the camping area for use.

Now back to the caravan section, it's not a big site, the owners Jane and Terry are very friendly, the pitches are level and quite large, there are nice views, they have a couple of free range peacocks, and chickens that roam round.

The site is only 5 mins from a lovely coastal walk as well as cream teas at Kilve. You can drive and see the Quantock ponies, it's a steep drive with fantastic views from the top.

There are lots of places to visit, Just 15 miles from Minehead, which has a lovely sandy beach, no dogs are allowed on there, there is also Butlins, which you can get a day pass.

There are beaches that you can take dogs on all year it's called Blue Anchor, and along the seafront there it's all free parking! We have been very surprised by the pubs that accept dogs inside, the Plough, and the Hook just a short distance away, are both dog friendly pubs, and the Hook do a fantastic Sunday lunch, the owner even gave our dogs a dog biscuit.

The shower blocks are kept very clean, and there are two separate private shower rooms with toilets. The TV reception is good. The showers are 50p each which gives you 10 minutes, which is just enough time.

The cost is £13per night, plus £2 per night is for your electric which is put on the meter at your hook up, in the summer this is more than ample, in the winter you might want to ask if you can pay and have more added, plus a £1 per night for awning.

There are dog walks round the site which you can let your dog off. Children are welcome, though there are no facilities for them, but a large field which they can play in.

They have short and long stay storage, and we have been fortunate to have our caravan stored here this year, so we are very happy to call this our 2nd home!

We booked in at Moorhouse as an overnight stop enroute to Devon - and wished we'd stayed longer!

Beautiful views of the Quantock Hills and surrounding countryside, immaculately tended grass pitches and flower beds. There are even herbs you can pick to use for your BBQ! The toilet and shower blocks are simple yet very clean and nothing is too much trouble for the owners who are always on hand.

There is no play equipment for children, but there is a huge field for them to run around and play in and the site itself felt very safe for my six and two year olds.

The local pub, The Plough, serves great, home cooked food with a lovely beer garden and welcoming staff.

If it's peace and quiet with beautiful scenery you're looking for, look no further.

Just spent 8 wonderful days. Lovely camping field, hookups if you need them. Tents quite tightly packed together over Bank Holiday weekend, but lovely and peaceful for the rest of the week.

Facilities good, although you need 50p for the showers. The communal fridge is a great bonus. Really good shop in Kilve (1 mile) and nice pub with great garden. Kilve beach, (small road by the shop) is very rocky but there are nice walks and picnic areas on the headland.(Dogs allowed)

Lots of places to visit, Dunster with it`s castle, Minehead if you`re looking for a sandy beach(no dogs allowed)and great walking and views up on the Quantocks.

Found this campsite by chance, a last minute long weekend for the late spring bank holiday - and very glad we did!

A very warm welcome from the owner on arrival who was really helpful in getting us set up.

The toilets and shower block were clean and modern.

The site itself was very clean and tidy. The grass was well maintained and pitches were generous and well laid out - separated by hedges and trees.

There were plenty of recycling bins located across the site.

The price for a serviced pitch was excellent - even with the additional 50p required for the showers this was such good value.

A working farm, we were lucky to see a fine display from the resident peacocks. No formal play facilities for the kids although there is a large field available to play in.

The farm has provided a link of permissive bridleways that lead to the village - a nice evening walk to the local pub (The Plough)which served a pleasant Somerset traditional scrumpy.

Hope to visit again when next in Somerset.

This was a rather special visit, as we were attending a wedding in Holford and would be hosting part of the preparations and accommodation for some of the guests on the camping pitch. Our hosts were most understanding, allocating a generous corner of the camping field in anticipation of 5 extra tents! The facilities were clean and the site was very well kept, especially difficult I imagine with a working farm on site!

The lady who was the driving force behind this site worked tirelessly throughout our visit, helping new arrivals locate their pitch, doing the rounds several times in the day, yet she always had the time to stop for a quick chat or give a friendly greeting. Despite the businesslike air, the site was free from those interminable signs of do's and don't's which seek to direct you at every moment. A nice touch was the provision of large round wooden table and chair units around the field: great for socialising!

The location is good, within walking distance of the village pub. (and a longer walk up the combe to the top of the Quantocks for the more adventurous) A 1.5 mile drive North takes you to Kilve (grocery shop) and 0.5 miles further is a car park with quaint tea room and access to the unspoilt shore. (good for fossil finds)

I know we will be back soon, perhaps later this year!

Lovely site attached to a real working farm.

Warm welcome on arrival by owner, all facilities good. But make sure you have some 50p for shower.

Stayed for a long weekend, but ended up storing motorhome there for 4 days and returned for another long weekend.

We were lucky and had brilliant sunshine both weekends in april, lots of walking in Quantock hills with super pub food at nearby plough pub in Holford, also good pub in nearby Kilve.
