This is one of the best sites we have ever been to. Even though it was the first week of the school hols and it was busy, it was still very quiet. The owners were very polite and helpful to the point where my neighbours dog chewed through my hookup cable and Jane & Terry (the owners) supplied us with another to borrow until we left.
Its very clean and basic but that's the attraction for us. The nearby Quantockhead beaches are fantastic for fossil hunting and the kids had a brilliant time. There is a general store and pub within 2 miles in Kilve. We will definitely be visiting this site again. 10/10

We have just got back from 4 days at Moorhouse. We enjoyed our stay, but it was outside the school holiday period and I feel that it might get rather crowded, especially in the camping field in the school holidays.
Virtually every pitch was occupied on the Saturday which did mean we were all squashed up together, car, tent, car, tent etc. with no space at all between. On the Sunday, Monday and Tuesday when a lot of people left it was wonderful. It felt like the quiet countryside site we hoped it would be.
The camping field is a large flat open area, pitches marked out around the edge and a large open space in the middle for games. There are several EHU's dotted about. There is a well maintained toilet block in this field with washbasins (no showers) and washing up facilities and a water tap.
The main facilities are just a few moments walk away, with plenty of toilets and showers and 2 wonderful new wet room showers. All the showers are 50p for 5 mins. The water was lovely and hot, and all the facilities were keep very clean and tidy.
The site is on a working farm, and the owners were friendly and businesslike. They gave the impression that they would not allow rowdy late night noise and as a consequence the was quiet by 11 pm each night.
I would love to return to this site, it is in a beautiful area and the views were lovely. I would try to avoid busy times as the pitches are not well spaced out and it did feel very crowded at the weekend. There appeared to be 2 other fields that were used for camping, they had water taps but no EHU, so these may be opened up in the holidays to relieve the crush.
The caravan pitches were lovely. Very well spaced out with a few trees between them, in short rows. I would have liked to pitch my tent there!
I must add that the ground was incredibly hard and stony. Some of our pegs bent like pipe cleaners when we tried to get them in. Next time we will take rock pegs. Many of the tents had pegs that were barely in the ground. I am glad it was not windy !

A very nice site spread across three fields, all with views of the Quantock Hills.Flat and well drained pitches which in dry weather can beome very hard so take a selection of pegs with you.
There are two toilet blocks, both of which we found to be clean and well maintained. The owner has plated trees and shurbs to divide parts of the site and with the nice old stone buildings make this a very attractive place to stay. The location being just off the busy A39 you would have expected noise to be a problem but we found the site to be very quiet.
The only improvement I would like to see is an information board as you enter the site, at present you arrive and are not sure where to go or how to book in. This is a site I would recommend unlike the two local pubs.

First visit to this site and it was only the second day of 2010 that the site has been open. The site was easy to find as long as you follow their directions and not SatNav!
Pitches are nice and big and obviously not that crowded in March! There are a LOT of seasonal caravan pitches along with all the regular caravan owners who keep their vans here making it seem like a lot of caravans.
We were welcomed and then given a list of rules to abide by - this seemed a little OTT but the lady was polite and seemed quite busy. I was very surprised about the electric meter for the EHU but even with a fan heater on all night, we still left with 56p credit! Our arrival at the site also coincided with the arrival of a large group of youngsters on a Duke Of Edinburgh Bronze expedition. We were worried about the noise but after a few pints in the excellent Plough Inn, we needn't have worried about them as they were very quiet and well behaved.
We felt that there could be insufficient showers when it gets busy, but for March it was fine. We also would prefer to pay more and have free showers and no limited electricity!
All in all, this is a very clean, well run site in a truly stunning area. Well worth a visit!

What a lovely site this is. We had a large tent with electric and on arrival the owner gave us a choice of a few pitches. The one we chose was ideal as we have two dogs and didn't want to be on a pitch where people were constantly walking past.
The toilet block on the tent field is a little dated but perfectly adequate, but there is a newer brick built toilet block which is lovely. There were only two ladies showers but we never had a problem as we are early risers and used the shower at about 6.30-7.00am. The showers were 50p for five minutes which we thought was ample as long as you get in and do what you have to do, I never had to put another 50p. The only criticism of the showers was that the the money box was outside the shower door and as the showers start immediately you put the coin in, you had to get undressed and wrap your towel around you so you could open the door and put the money in.
There were ample water points around the site and two recycle areas where we could sort out our rubbish. There were dishwashing facilities in both the blocks on the tent field and the newer one near the caravans. I also noticed there was a laundry room but I didn't check out these facilities. Handy to know though.
Our two dogs thought it was great as there were plenty of walks around the site for them and they could run free.
The owner (Jane) was very helpful when we asked her various questions (one of which was where we could buy a new airbed as the one our daughter was sleeping on kept going down) and gave us clear directions on how to find places. She left us to our own devices, just popping around the site to check things every few days.
This was an ideal location for visiting busier places, i.E. Minehead, Burnham-on-Sea, and quieter places, i.E. Dunster, Exmoor, and is within easy reach of North Devon if you wish to venture further. Large supermarkets like Tesco and Morrisons were within a few miles away and we generally visited these on our way back from spending the day out.
We had a lovely meal at the Plough Inn which we walked to through the fields at the back of the site, and an excellent Indian takeaway from the place in nearby Williton (the name of which I cannot remember!).

Just visited moorhouse campsite with my mate and found it very good we were each charged £ 7 for our tents which we considered reasonable campsite is clean and owners seemed friendly . Only one criticism of the local area is how barren everything is no shops at all for miles around. There is only one Pub in holford and it served good but expensive food £ 8.50 for small pie and a little veg . Landlord also refused to feed us on Saturday night saying they were fully booked which I thought was very bad as we told the staff we were coming back on the Friday night for another meal .

We stayed for a few days at the end of July in a campervan - There is plenty of room for each pitch and the site in beautiful setting on a working farm. There was a lot of large campervans and caravans and we would have maybe liked to have parked on the tent field for a more in the wild feel. (not sure if you could tho)
The toilets and washup facilities were fine.
We would definitely use again.

This site is a hidden gem! I'm half tempted not to write a review to stop everyone wanting to go but its too good not to share. Myself, hub and dog visited following a very rainy period in late July but on arrival the tent field was beautifully maintained and there was minimal mud.
We had an EHU pitch but it was not all marked out as some sites are so allowing a certain amount of freedom on pitching. The lady owner, Jane I think, was really friendly showing us to the pitch and leaving us to set up before returning for money (cash only), bargin at £12-13 pn with EHU. We were pitched to the left of the field with fantastic views of the hills.
The owners don't squash tents in and there is huge space in the centre of the field so no feeling of too many tents.
There is a portacabin toilet block in the tent field, old but adequate for teeth brushing and toilet visits, the main toilet block is actually very nice but compact. Showers are 50p for about 5 mins but loads of hot water and kept clean. The only negative would be the lack of a shelf in the shower cubicle and that that pay machine is outside the cubicle meaning you have to get ready then pop your head out to insert your money.
I found plenty of photo opportunities on the farm and watch out for the peacocks! The local area is lovely, great walks along the coast paths, forests, beaches etc and from the farm. All the local pubs seem to allow dogs, recommend the Cottage Inn.
Local shop in Kilve has good stock of local cider and fudge which must be tried!
Would we return, yes!

We stayed at this site for 2 nights at the end of July. We were in a tent with EHU. The electric is metered and you get £2 per night included in the pitch price but if you use over this you have to put extra money in the meter. I cook on electric and we also had a fan heater on in the evening as it was quite chilly but we didn't need to top up the meter.
The site is well positioned for the surrounding area and the camping field was nice and flat for pitching the tent. It had been fairly wet before we arrived, and on our first night, and the entrance into the tent field got fairly muddy. A gravel road around the field would have helped with this. The pitches were fine though and didn't get overly muddy.
The toilets in the tent field are quite old and a couple of the cubicles had seen better days - I believe the words rustic were used.
Unfortunately there are also no showers in this field so you have to walk over to the other field for a shower. This block is nicer than the other with a few showers which are basic but clean. There is a washing up area at both blocks but the girls also preferred the washing up area in the other block and walked over there each day.
This site seems to be very popular with caravanners but there were also a lot of tents there when we stayed.
If you are looking for a basic site around the bridgwater area then this site would be ideal.

A lovely little site. We were in the tent field (no EHU) which was small, well kept, and backed onto maize fields which gave a bit of shelter. There were also a number of round picnic tables which sat 8. The small toilet block on the tent field (which also had dish washing facilities) was clean and always had toilet roll, soap and hand towels (and it was close enough that my 4 year old could go by herself).
You get a long time in the shower for your 50p - we were able to shower 3 of the girls in our party for that - the showers are in the toilet block in the caravan area, but easily reached from the tent area.
There is a small recreation field behind the tent field which was good for the cricket.
As our first day was wet we went to Tropiquaria Animal and Adventure Park in nearby Watchet. The kids (7 of them ranging from 4-11 years old) had a great time with the animals and the indoor play area when it was raining and then had a ball outside when the weather cleared up (we were there for around 5 hours). On the second day we went to nearby Kilve beach to crab and fossil hunt (this is a rocky beach with no sand at all) - again the kids had a great time.
Would have no hesitation in returning to this site.
