We arrived at Grange Farm, Thorpe Le Soken in a thunderstorm, and were met by a warden who was calling on all visitors to check that they were all right. Our 1 year old Rotweiller Charley Bear was excited as it was his first holiday, and despite the damp start we had a lovely holiday. Really friendly
And relaxed. Toilet and shower blocks spotless, nice
Farm environment, very helpful wardens, and plenty of places to visit. Wonderful walks, and wildlife, the resident pheasant has found a mate, and horses and hens on site.
Shops really near, Thorpe le Soken easily walkable, and a larger Tescos only 2 and a half miles away.
Really recommend this site, and we will certainly return. What made this particular important to us was an animal friendly site for Charley (dogs on leads of course) and a relaxed and friendly site. Thank you very much

Just back from a lovely 2 night stay at Grange Farm. Had a lovely couple of days and the weather was very kind! This was our first camping adventure with the 3 boys.
Arrived at the park, very easy to find and signposted clearly, nobody was at home so called contact number listed at the reception door, was told to pitch up where we liked. We checked out New field which had a few tourers pitched up. We headed for Old field with one tourer set up, we weren't wanting electric hook up in our tent so pitched towards the far side of the large field, 2 sides had hook up available 2 sides grass only. There was wooden pub type garden tables available along with bricks to BBQ on and a drinking water tap available to use. We started to pitch and the warden popped over to say hello, pointed out toilets, showers and the footpath through to town. (Approx 10 mins walk through farm land and a private lane) there is no site shop but Tesco Express is within 10 mins walk, along with take aways should you need anything.
We used the loos and every time both ladies and gents were spotless. Never used the showers but again appeared very clean. The site has recycling facilities next to toilet block, kept tidy. Although a full working farm we were not disturbed by noise, in all an extremely peaceful site. The resident pheasant liked the sound of his own voice and regularly wandered across the field.
The site is located about 15 minutes from Clacton, popular for the beaches and pier.
Overall a clean peaceful site to which we will be returning!
Only improvement I could possibly suggest was a children's play area although mine were happy with a tennis ball and football

We have just returned from a 7 night stay at this site,
I agree the facilities are very basic and showers are charged at 50p per token, we didn't use the showers so cannot comment on what they were like.
The site is on a working farm and the whole place was very tatty, it needed some TLC.
The camping fields grass certainly needed to be cut and when we commented to the warden his response was the field is never empty so cant cut it, but while we were there one side of our field emptied but no attempt was made to cut that side of the field.
Dont think we would hurry back to the site and if we needed to go back to that area would try to search out a different CL.

This is a small quiet site a short walk from the town of Thorpe-le-Soken.
The showers and toilet are pretty basic but adequate, though a little chilly in November.
It is a working equine farm and very picturesque in November, so must be lovely from Spring through to Autumn.
There are some nice walks on the farm itself and the town has some good selection of independent shops.
There is also a train station nearby if you want to visit the Essex & Suffolk seaside.
The owners are friendly.

I have been going to this site since before 2006, last visit was in august this year,
Like everyone says its just a basic fields with block of ladies & gents toilet with shower,
Plenty of lovely walks around the fields, ideal for dog walks, also nice walk to the village through the fields
So close to 3 seaside walton, clacton, & frinton short drive away, bus route & train station just outside of the camp for those that don't have transport,
Plenty of space not over crowded, lots of wild life to see, horse fields,

This site is a total Gem.
Very basic facilities which might put some off but very peaceful and a lovely location with some great views out over the fields. Lots of shops, pubs etc well within walking distance.
Even though it was mid July, there were only a few other units on the site, only 5 in my field and a few tents in another field which meant that I could pretty much pitch where I wanted to.
The warden on site was very friendly and helpful without being intrusive and I'll certainly be returning soon. Top marks from me.

This site is a working farm, the facilities are very basic, only one shower and 2 toilets each for male and female and they could have been a little cleaner.
There are no children's facilities on site other than ball games on the field itself and no shop for even basics like bread and milk.
The small local village is very close however and supplies were not an issue. The couple running it were very friendly and walked around each evening greeting everyone.
Overall a very relaxing week away. There is easy access to lots of country villages as well as to beach locations too.

Two weekends away to Grange Farm within one month is a seal of approval from us.
A super spot in open farmland with easy walk into the village but only 10 minutes to either Frinton or Walton.
Two separate fields linked via a footpath at the bottom of the pond but with no through vehicular traffic between the two.
Facilities are basic but quite adequate, although if the owners felt like building a new amenities block with two showers per gender I wouldn't complain.
The girls enjoyed visiting the horses in the adjacent fields as well as playing in the shade of the cherry tree during a hot sunny weekend. While there are no play facilities on the site, and it is a working farm, there is a super play park at the back of the social club around 200yds back towards the village from the entrance to site.
The village has a couple of pubs, one with a small children's play area, a Tesco Express with a limited range of essentials (but does open early for forgotten breakfast supplies!), and a super little coffee/cake shop.
Certainly a winner with us and will be back again soon.

Excellent site good value for money. We paid £12 per night with hook up for trailer tent and 2 adults.
Toilets were very clean and they did an excellent job and was very helpful with info of the surrounding area.
The town was accessible through a gate in the next field. In town there was a couple of pubs and restaurants, also tesco express.
Not far to clacton, walton, ipswitch. We enjoyed our stay.
The only down fall was no hot water in the toilets and showers were £1 a time. We were made very welcome.

Stayed for two nights while visiting family in the area. A lovely quiet site that met our needs perfectly.
There are several fields that can be used by different units. We stayed in the 'old site' a large open field which, as it was quiet, meant our dogs (very well behaved) were able to be off lead most of the time.
Facilities are basic, one shower and two toilets in each of the male and female blocks, but spotlessly clean. 50p tokens, available from main house, needed for showers.
Staff welcoming, friendly, but not intrusive. Lovely walks surrounding the site and a short drive to local beaches. We will definitely use this site again,
