We were in a small tent without electric hook up and so were in a big field with similar tents. The field was rough grass and the toilet block only a short distance. There was no pot wash facilities and only one shower. These were basic but clean and adequate.

There was no play facilities for the children but they were quiet happy playing with other children. It was a pleasant walk across the footpath to the village where there is a good pub and Tesco express which opens till late so this was very handy.

The man on the campsite was very friendly and helpful. This was a basic camping site only which is just what we wanted in a great location for the beach.

We went on a very local holiday in the Whitsun week, the facilities are very basic - no hot water/no washing up facilities - but adequate. The toilets were kept clean and tidy.

The owner was friendly and made us feel welcome. She wandered round the campsite on a few evenings just for a chat, which I thought was a nice touch. There was also a man who lived on site, who was very helpful when we overloaded our electric hookup.

There are plenty of public footpaths in the area, which we took full advantage of, with the help of an Ordnance Survey map of the area.

The local village is quaint, with pubs, restaurants and takeaways, also a Tesco Express nearby.

It is a working farm and our 3 children enjoyed the experience of seeing what happens on a farm, but there was no play area for them, however they managed to entertain themselves, following the chickens and stroking the horses.

Great site. Nice and quiet (we like that) token operated shower (75p) but if you wait till some one comes out you might be lucky to get a free one. Lol. Very clean site. Not far from morrisson superstore or beach.

The site has got two shower blocks. If you like birds there are lots to see included free range chickens:) there is also a lovely pond which separates the new site from old site.
We recommended the site and we are going to stay there for few more days in august as we enjoyed the time very much.

We stayed on this working crop farm for a weekend. We were advised where to park because the ground was wet and also were requested to leave the car on hardstanding a short way away to limit the ins and outs on the grass. The owner kindly told us of a short cut up to Thorpe Le Soken Village across a field and through a gravelled road with some very pretty cottages - a lovely walk, about 10 mins. Village has a Tesco express, about three pubs, a Chinese takeaway and a Chinese restaurant, an Indian too, everything you could want really.

We made the mistake of going to eat in The Crown PH - looks impressive as does the menu but it wasn't nice at all.

We had the field to ourselves until the Saturday evening when two mini-motorhome vehicles came in and drove round and round. Needless to say they got bogged down, wheelspinning in the mud and had to be towed out by the tractor - some people just don't listen.

Nice enough toilets and showers, clean but basic. You have to get a token for 75p for the shower but we didn't use it as we have on board facilities.

Lovely views, horsey people will love it as there are horses on site and a little sanded field where I presume they are taught to walk properly etc. We would return, for £10 a night with electric its quite nice, peaceful and within walking distance of facilities. There is the odd train goes past in the distance but it didn't bother us at all, we were surprised to see it more than anything.

We went here with friends who had visited previously, it is a lovely site if you want to 'get away from it all'. It was lovely for the children to see such an abundance of wildlife, the bats flew in and out of the trees above our heads, and we literally tripped over a hedgehog during a night-time walk! The facilities are very basic, just a couple of toilets and one ladies shower although I think I only had to wait to use it once! The shower was perfectly adequate though but operated on tokens available from the owners (or it did when we went)! There is lots to see and do in the area and some lovely beaches, we would definitely return to this campsite for some peace and quiet!

We visited in late July as a family with 2 kids (1 & 3 years old) and 4 other friends. The site, part of the Caravaning and Camping Club, consists of 2 fields of an agricultural farm. It was made up of a mix of tents and caravans. There was also EHU hookup, though I don't know exactly how many were available. It's quite flat, with well kept grass. Our field had a water point, and a shower/toilet block - split into male / female. Each block has just 2 toilets, 2 sinks and a token operated shower (50p a token). We weren't able to use the shower as apart from meeting the owner on arrival, we couldn't find her the rest of the weekend to buy any tokens! One of our party reported hearing someone in the shower wrestling to get the temperature down from scalding hot. No idea though whether or not it was the shower or camper to blame. The block was clean. There was no playground or any entertainment for kids.

The nearby village is quite small, with 2 pubs. One of these serves children and has a nice playground out the back of it. It's not that cheap though. There's also a pizza place, a deli and importantly a reasonably stocked Tesco Metro. This is all a pleasant 5 minute walk alongside a field from the campsite.

We ended up choosing this site because it was cheap (£12 / night for all of us, all in) but also because it's 4 miles away from Frinton-on-Sea, which is an exceptionally lovely beach town. It's excellent for any kite flyers, as there's quite a bit of wind up on the green swathe that overlooks the beach.

All in all then, it's quite a simple and peaceful site - no entertainment, but we weren't after any! I would go back to use it as a base to go to Frinton for a weekend. I wouldn't stay longer than that though in a tent as there were no washing up facilities and I'm not entirely convinced about the showers!
