We just spent 4 nights here after a recommendation from a friend and we really loved it.
The site was easy enough to find and the rates were cheaper than expected for high season.
We were greeted on arrival by the warden and were walked round to our pitch, which was spacious and level. We were in the smaller field which was nice and sheltered, and although it had the road the other side of the hedge we had no trouble with road noise, we only really noticed the odd tractor in the morning.
The on-site facilities are clean well maintained. I was actually really impressed with the toilet block. The washing up area was also tidy aand well lit though I had to keep remembering to take 20p for the hot water! There is also currently a well stocked shop!
The site is in easy reach of all the main coastal haunts, our favourites being Bridlington and Hunmanby Gap.
As previous reviewers have mentioned there is no play area which although one would be nice, I don't see it as necessary really as there is plenty of space and the site is safe enough (with the very strict speed limit) for the children to run free!
Overall a wonderful site where we plan to return to next year!

Just stayed here for 2 nights and it was fantastic. Its in a great location to explore the coast set in a tranquil position. The showers and toilets were spotless and cleaned continually. On arrival we were shown to our pitch which was in the conifers by a very helpful warden who also pointed out all the facilities. There is no children's play area but plenty room for them to play. There is a great little shop on site which opens 9-7 everyday and the prices were excellent no need to visit a supermarket you can get everything there and they can get you a paper. Cant wait to go back and visit again.

It was our third visit to Saxdale, and we booked our return whilst there. The site is lovely, with really good size pitches. The tent field has a lovely large area in the middle perfect for the kids to play in.
As always the toilet block was immaculately clean. There's a small inexpensive shop on site, where you can order hot croissants in a morning and newspapers. (The owners are currently considering the viability of this so please use it)
This is still a relatively small and for its proximity to the coast inexpensive site. It hasn't got a playground, but the kids we were with played all sorts of imaginative spy games, football, made daisy chains. There's a friendly welcome, and I'm sure we'll be returning for many years.

Just returned from a long weekend at Saxdale House Farm. We were welcomed by a very friendly and helpful warden on arrival, he showed us to our pitch and pointed out the facilities.
Pitches were well spaced out, we stayed on one of the conifer hedged pitches - although the other pitches on the adjoining field looked of a good size and appeared to be level. The toilets and showers were clean and of a good standard, 50p for a shower gave you plenty of hot water.
Although close to a road it is not particularly busy and we were not bothered by any road noise.
Site is close to Filey, which is lovely, but we preferred Hunmanby Gap and Reighton which we found to be less busy and much easier to park.
It was lovely to be staying somewhere where you can appreciate dark skies and fall asleep to the sound of an owl hooting!
Definitely a gem - we will be returning!

We went here for 2 nights, using our caravan for the first time, warden helpful when we first arrived.
Very muddy and wet throughout the stay however site facilities lovely and clean.
£5 EXTRA a night for a car was a bit expensive.
Overall price reasonable.
Due to weather unable to comment on nearby surrounding area.
Maybe a small play area for children would be a good idea for the future.
Would recommed to others

Spent two nights here. Was met at the gate by the very friendly warden who was more than happy to help.
Toilets and showers were very clean.
There is a shop which opened for one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening, but we didn't get chance to visit it.
We were in the tent field and found it to be a little too open and due to pretty high winds, it was a bit breezy to say the least. Saying that, it looks like the owner has planted some trees so in a few years time it should break the winds a bit from the open fields behind the site.
The pitch we were on was unfortunately on mud and when it came to packing away the bottom of the tent was very dirty, we would have preferred a patch with grass.
Great little site and would definitely recommend it.

We stayed at Saxdale House Farm for 4 nights.
The owners and wardens made us feel very welcome. We were greeted by Jonathan who explained where the toilet and shower block and the pot washing facilities were, and about the site rules etc. Some people may think that there are a lot of rules here but I tend to like that, you know where you stand and there is no confusion.
The site is small and friendly and the facilities clean. The showers are 50p for 10 minutes which was long enough and I didn't mind paying because the showers are powerful and hot. Washing up is 20p for 3 minutes hot water - when I didn't have a lot of pots to wash I washed them at the tent.
The area around the site is quiet and there is very little noise from the road.
While we were there we visited Filey, Scarborough, Flamborough and Bridlington.
When we went to Scarborough we parked at the park and ride on the Scarborough Road, it was £4. 20 for a family of four return journey which I felt was good value.
Filey is a nice little seaside town with a lovely beach and isn't to commercialised. There is a Tesco in Filey. However the little shop on site has a good stock of the essentials.
We drove through the village of Hunmanby were there are a number of shops and pubs.
We will return to Saxdale House Farm and I would recommend it.

Had a fab May Bank Holiday weekend camping here, the weather was freezing at night but luckily we had EHU. The facilities on the campsite were superb and the owners were lovely and very helpful. There is a little shop on site which has a wide range of reasonably priced food/drink/equipment etc. Including some great kids toys. Hot croissants at breakfast time were another bonus! The site is very well maintained and child friendly and we have already booked to go back to Saxdale in August. I would highly recommend a stay there.

My wife and I had never camped like this before. She had gained her gold Duke of Edinburgh and I had spent 17 years in the military. But this was the first time we had been 'fun' camping with friends.
We were in a large party made up of 'newbies' and 'veteran' campers.
The facilities were very good, with all the necessary bins, cleaning areas, ablutions etc being of a high standard and, where required' having simple to understand and clear instructions.
The pitch was of a generous size and, even though we were the closest to the road ( as mentioned by a previous review ) we were never woken or disturbed by traffic.
I, understandably, don't have much experience of campsites, but I would say, that if your new to camping or want a relaxing, friendly site in a beautiful area of the country, then you couldn't go far wrong with this one!
Before we left, the whole group booked again for later in the year.

We, my 6 year old and myself have just returned from Bank Holiday weekend at Saxdale (we met up with friends at the site)
We where welcomed on arrival but the warden and shown to our pitch. I had not been able to get an electric pitch but emailed ahead to request one if there was cancellations. Part way through pitching I was told EHU was available as someone had just cancelled. The warden helped me move and pitch my tent on the new pitch
The site is well drained, good size flat pitches and very tidy and clean. The shower block is pleasant, spotlessly clean and well maintained. Showers cost 50p for 10 mins of hot water with home style showers with glass cubicles.
The shop on site stocks almost anything you could need including wines and spirits at good prices.
The area around the site is beautiful with the beach and towns a short drive away.
All in all a lovely small clean friendly site, wonderful owners and staff. We have booked another two visits already and cant wait to return.
