Stayed here from 24th to the 31st, reasonable rates, £98.00 for a week with ehu, nice clean well kept site, great showers and toilets but not enough hooks, there never are!
Slight problem with hot water in sinks but got hotter towards the end of the week (think they got someone in). Friendly hosts, really nice site
Only downside is that the kids have no play area and play in the middle of the field and its really noisy till 10.00 well at least it was when we were there!

I stayed with two lads for three nights, in a campervan with electric hook-up. The email communication and personal welcome were friendly and helpful, being given advice about cycle hire and shown around the site facilities, the staff are obviously making an effort and prices are fair.
The shop, shower block, washing-up and elsan disposal point were all fine, our only problem was getting the hot water to work with the 20p in the slot at the washing-up sinks.
The location is good, with quiet country lanes and villages to explore by bike and the Scarborough to Whitby cindertrack not too far away if, like us, you prefer off-road trails.
Hunmanby is a few minutes down the road and has a local butcher & baker, and train & bus services along the coast. Hunmanby Gap is great if you enjoy building sandcastles or having a beach BBQ, there's a small cafe there selling lovely ice cream, and if the tide is out you can walk along towards Bempton Cliffs.
All in all, recommended for a short break!

Owners very helpful as the tent was large and we needed a big pitch. The pitch was level and plenty big enough.
The site is very well kept. The showers are clean, refurbished and cost 50p. The shop is small but well stocked and reasonably priced. The site is lovely with a very friendly feel. The only down side is you cannot walk into Hunmanby village it is just a little too far.I will definitely be going back to Saxdale House.

Positives:- Great small quiet site. Toilets have been refurbished which is pleasing. 50p to use showers. The nearest village, Hunmanby is pleasant, with a nice fish and chip shop.
However just a few complaints. Site last year was £8 per night. Given improvements I can understand a small increase in charges, however we were charged £12 without electric! However this is still relatively cheap compared to some sites.
Also, the location of the site whilst it is ideal for visiting local areas, Bridlington, Filey, Scarborough etc, please be aware that the site is not within walking distance of Hunmanby, so be prepared to get the car out!

A nice little site. Extremely good value for money. We paid £12 with electric. Our friend had been quoted £10 without electric for a large tent. He had a 2 man in the end and they reduced it to £8 for him-very nice of them.
Toilets look very unpromising from the outside, but are nicely fitted inside. 2 showers and 3 loos for the ladies, 1 with sink in the cubicle and 2 further sinks. Showers like you would have at home / in a b&b, proper glass cubicles. Clean enough but not properly clean, but I've come to expect this from campsites. Backs of sinks / toilets for instance were dusty, just the bare essentials actually cleaned.
Fields were nice and flat and not stony. First field looked very private with conifer hedges around each pitch. Not just all year round caravans there either, but not sure how you'd get a pitch, didn't see prices for them listed on the website?
The main 2 fields were spacious, one looked out over a rapeseed field, lovely view.
There was a road right outside, but it wasn't very busy.
The owners and warden were lovely and friendly and the shop nice and well stocked. They do hot baguettes and croissants in a morning-very tasty with bacon and eggs :)
The biggest problem we had from this site was noise. Kids and adults being very inconsiderate at all hours. Not the site's fault, just unfortunate.
Tried the pizza shop in Hunmanby who delivered to the site for us-nice pizzas.
Loads to do in the surrounding area, seaside towns aplenty. Wouldn't recommend the moors railway if you're after views-it's all in a valley and you see little more than trees. Certainly none of the Heartbeat sweeping views I was hoping for!

Stayed here over the Bank holiday weekend. Lovely site quiet with lots of space. There was a small shop on site which sold most things. Toilet block was clean as were the showers which are 50p.
Only 20 mins to Scarborough and 5 mins to Filey. Enjoyed ourselves and already booked to go back. Did not see children's play area but plenty of room to run. No ball games which is a plus

The campsite is very clean and tidy. The refurbished ladies toilets are great. The shop was very well stocked. Even had books you could 'buy' with a small donation going to the RNLI.
The washing up facilities were clean and tidy although I don't think they were being used on our visit.
The camping field was kept short and the spaces were plenty big enough.
All in all a good site.
Nothing appeared to be too much trouble for you.
We will certainly try and visit again this year.

Saxdale is in a perfect position for visiting the east coast and has the benefit of being close to the delightful village of Hunmanby. The village has a co-op, several takeaways a few pubs an excellent green grocers and butchers. If walking the village is about 10 minutes from the site. Filey can be reached by car in under 10minutes and well worth a visit if just for the beach. We found parking to be free until March 31st.
The site is superb for its size but what makes it so special is the kindness and friendliness extended by its owner. The facilities are spotless and well appointed the ladies currently being renovated and if the gents is anything to go by will rival many commercial sites we have visited. A small charge is made of 50p for the shower but this lasts over 10mins. There are several signs requesting care of facilities and judging by the reaction of fellow campers they were indeed respected. The pitches were roomy and private surrounded by thick hedging only downside was the mud which in fairness is to be expected at this time of year.
At night you can really appreciate the site as it is in complete darkness a refreshing change to many who use spotlights to highlight facilities. We look forward to visiting again soon

Basic site, toilet block not too far from tents, unless you are right at the far end. Gents nicely done up, ladies quite cramped and although clean are in great need of attention. No hand driers, no hair dryers either. Caravan sections very nice with privacy hedges, tent field very exposed to the west so try to pitch 'end on' as the wind comes right over the fields with nothing to stop it. Pitches are level although ours was a bit muddy and very uneven, but looked like it had seen a lot of use lately. Not sure I would go back but it was ok for a weekend.

Just returned home after three nights on this site and we have really enjoyed our time there and would go back and recommend it. There's a mens and ladies toilet and shower block (the mens have had a refurb, the ladies are clean but will be better when refurbed. However do not be put off by this, I am a clean-a-holic and I had no complaints - apart from no towel or handryer so either had to use toilet roll or remember own towel.)
Shower 50p for ten mins
Water for washing up 20p if you want hot water.
£8 a night, £2 for EHU.
Perfectly flat pitches.
Shop opens for an hour in the morning and an hour at teatime and sells all essentials at reasonable prices.
Very fiendly site owner.
Friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Went to humanby gap beach (car needed as road doesnt have pavements and we had a buggy) was lovely full of surfers
Filey beach is also lovely and has a toddlers paddling pool there too.
Our little girl loved the site you can hear birds 'singing' and a horse walked by she was in her element.
Everyone on site was happy and said hello. No lighting at night but toilets are well lit.
Recycling facilities, bin area tidy and organised. Speed limit of 5mph and reminded of this on arrival.
