I searched for a site for the weekend to take the kids to 'do' Blackpool. Found this on a late search booked, sent a deposit as requested of £20.

Read the reviews and seemed to be ok. However after returning home, I have to say, I cannot score this site as high.

The site itself is fine, set in good surroundings and although you can hear the motorway its pretty peaceful enough.

We were out most of Saturday and its not the best time of year to review a site due to weather etc, but facilities were good.

However I think unfortunately the owners have had a few bad experiences maybe of visitors and as this is a public site, I have to admit I felt strangled by rules. When I arrived I was met with a locked gate, a couple had just gone though but they explained that they couldn't let me through as the owners didn't like it, so I had to ring to get someone to come to book me in.

The owner turned up with a key for the locked gate. Now as she arrived she commented on the size of my van! When I booked she asked me if my van was an average size? I didn't really get chance to answer because of the chat. On arrival she comment on my van being twin axle and so big! Its an 18 ft body, so not huge and as I commented I can put it anywhere, that's ok then she said.

We went to the Eagle and Child nearby in Weeton, recommended, great food and good service. When I left, I had to ring, again! to tell them I was leaving, it was Sunday there were a few vans having just left before me. 11am. Didn't realise you were leaving so early she said! and you owe me more money, I knew, I hadn't seen anyone to pay all weekend! When I was at the gate, I paid my dues plus the extra money but asked why, she said it was because I had a twin axle, but I said there are single axles bigger, she said its because I take up more room!, I only use one pitch, I repeated, she said it was because, I take more electricity! I repeated, it was smaller than some large single axles, she said that's just how they do it! I think its unfair to be charged after your stay more because they come up with an excuse to do so!

I wont be returning here, why? because although its a nice site, too many rules and also because of locked gate, too much hassle getting in and out, if I hadn't had a mobile phone, I was alone with two young kids, what do you do? Maybe this site is such because of past experiences with customers but its to much hassle, and hassle I do not want when go away with my kids.

What a little gem of a site, only a stones throw away from the Fylde coast. We have stayed in and around Blackpool before only to find camp sites built like car parks, impersonal and quite frankly a bit rough. Little Orchard however is a totally different kind of site.

Peaceful and beautiful in equal measure. We travelled with friends for adjoining pitches, so between us there were 4 adults and 3 kids under 5. We had a ball! Great fields to explore and a fabulous area to sit out and enjoy the surroundings. Mrs. J was a gradely Lancashire Lass, and loved the kids playing nicely on the well kept lawns.

The Eagle & Child was fabulous, especially the hand pulled real ales. All in all a great long weekend in the beautiful Fylde coast!

We stayed here for two nights when we collected our new caravan.

Lovely rural location and nice and quiet too. Nice large field to walk the dogs, with plenty of bins on site too.

A small toilet block, but clean and looked after. 1 shower (50p for 10 minutes) we used our own facilities, so can't comment of the shower heat/power etc.

The lady who runs the site is very friendly and attentive and checks regularly.

The site is secure, with a padlocked entrance (you're given a key)

A nice relaxing site, lovely to sit and watch the rabbits whilst having your cuppa.

We stayed at this site for the bank holiday weekend. What a lovely little site. Linda the owner is lovely and very accommodating (even sorting us out an electric hook up).

The site itself is very clean and well looked after. The toilets and the shower are always clean. There is only 1 shower in the ladies but never had to queue.

There is nothing to do on site but you are only 15 minutes away from both Blackpool and Preston by car and there is a bus stop near by(bus time tables can be found on the walls of the toilets)

Would use this site again for a weekend. At £16. 50 a night it is fantastic value for money.

We read all the reviews before we visited recently, and can add very little more. Gem of a site in a fantastic rural location (even though it is VERY close to the M55), very quiet.

site owner is a hoot, lovely woman but be careful how you take her directions to the Eagle and Child pub in nearby Weeton village. Mrs J told us to go across the dog walking meadow (our dogs loved this large field) and through the 'kissing gate', and firstly walk towards Blackpool tower, then, towards the buildings - this we did and ended up on a farm, about 1 1/2 miles out of the way!

The farmer listened to our tale of the directions we had been given, he asked us which site we were on, and smiled knowingly, we were obviously not he first to fall foul of the directions!

The beer at the pub was lovely, and the food was fabulous - you can buy the biggest mixed grill I have seen, or a 32 Oz (yep 32!) T bone. Not expensive either for the quality and quantity you get.

if you fancy a walk there (20 minutes) go through the kissing gate and simply keep the hedge to your left and keep walking. You eventually reach a style, go over it and walk in the same direction you have been doing, the pub comes up on your right in less than half a mile.

Facilities are good, 50p gets a long hot shower, water/waste/chemical disposal are all very close by and well maintained. Some of the site is gently sloping, and dependant where Mrs J puts you, you may require blocks fore or aft, and left or right. We were in the 'Orchard' area, so called because you look out over a gorgeous apple orchard.

All pitches are hard standing, but some do not have parking adjacent to your van, so some people have to park a short distance away.

This site won Dr Bellamy's Conservation award in 2010, and you can clearly see why - the site is fabulous for wildlife.

I only have one moan, and that is the length of time the sensors in the shower/toilet block leave the lights on when you have activated them with movement, not long enough! Whilst on the loo, you find you have to rock back and forward, on several occasions to re-activate the light, and it's the same with the shower, you have to open the shower door to wave at the sensor, this results in a very wet floor!

Not the cheapest of sites, £22. 00/ night over a Bank Holiday (minimum 3 nights stay)for a larger tourer, but we will go back!

My husband and I have just returned from a lovely couple of days at this peaceful site. On arrival we received a very warm welcome from Linda.

The tent field is flat and sheltered, and the toilet/shower block is immaculate.

There is a dog walk (a meadow adjacent to the caravan field) on site where our puppy enjoyed playing. It made a fantastic change to having to exercise him along dark country lanes before settling him down for the evening.

This was by far the cleanest and most peaceful site that we have ever been on, we will definitely be returning.

This was our first camping trip with our 18 month old little girl and a new tent, it was absolutely fabulous. Loved the site cannot wait to go back. So relaxing and friendly.

The shower and toilet block was spotless and Linda the owner so friendly and welcoming. Well worth visiting, once you have been you will definitely want to go back.

Nothing on the site for children but the young ones are just happy exploring the countryside.

There is plenty of places not too far away if you have older ones anyway.

We were on our first time out with new tent, had a very peaceful time on this site, as others have said. the owner is a very wonderful lady nothing was to much trouble, we paid her after two days.

When we were there the inspector from the David Bellamy system came, he was left to do his job but nothing on site to worry about.

We will be returning soon if we can get time off. Would be a ideal base for the lights but only people who are up to the owners standard.

This is a very quiet site no shop etc

Just had a few days at this site and while I agree with most reviews about the site being very clean I would not be returning. It is not a site for children as there are no facilities not even a swing

And for 18 pound a night it was way overpriced as there is nothing only the shower block.

My young 10 year old daughter did not enjoy it and we spent most of our time going out.

Although linda, the owner was very nice we all felt very uncomfortable with her as she kept on saying to us that she wont tolerate noise from children running about, we couldn't even play any games to amuse ourselves.

we will definitely not be returning

We have just returned from our 'virgin' voyage of our recently purchased caravan.

The minute that we pulled up we were offered help with setting up. Even the awning ( with no instructions) got put up with the help of a fellow camper. Everyone was so friendly and helpful.

The legend. That is Linda, is just such a friendly and lovely lady. We were quick to pick up on her ' no riff raff accepted policy'. (which made me giggle to myself). Quite frankly, as others have said, if she doesn't like the look of you, you simply wont get on the site.

The site itself is just lovely. Very well maintained and the toilets and showers where spotless. We never had to queue for a shower at all and the site was quite full.

The dog walking meadow is fabulous, our little dog had a great time!

I think that this site is for the quieter type of camper, who just want to relax and take in the good country air. There wasn't many children about and it was half term, but maybe this is because there isnt anything for kids to do there. (no playground)

Can't wait to go back. Loved it!
