First off I have to say that this is one of the prettiest sites I have stayed at and the wardens work very hard to maintain everything on site to give it the “wow” factor as you drive through the gate. The site is visually stunning, the toilets and showers are immaculate, as is the communal kitchen and I didn’t see a single piece of litter anywhere. My hat goes off to the wardens for their hard work, dedication and passion for the site.
Before going to Langdale Lakes I read a review (on their own website) stating it was a “very peaceful site”. Langdale Lakes is not a peaceful site at all, in fact it is far from it. Being next to the A158 (which is an exceptionally busy road as I found out every time we left the site to go anywhere) there is a lot of traffic noise, there is some kind of shooting range close by (the Military perhaps? I never did find out) and the train line at the bottom of the site where the large (and very noisy) freight trains thundered through at some very unsociable hours, ie 1 am one morning. If you want a quiet and peaceful site Langdale Lakes is not for you.
The Langdale Lakes website states it is a “touring site” which is not one hundred per cent accurate. There are seven touring pitches and the rest are seasonal pitches, and this is the worst thing about Langdale Lakes. The seasonal pitch holders are a closed bunch, they are unwelcoming and it is clear they don’t like touring units at “their” site. When the seasonal pitch holders were present (at the weekends) I felt like a total outsider, unwelcome and very uncomfortable. During the week it was fine but at the weekend it is totally different.
The seasonal pitch holders are very rude and there were a few in particular who felt the need to keep walking directly in front of my awning, which was no more than a metre and a half from the water’s edge, instead of around my unit. Maybe these people were “stamping their authority and confirming it as their site”, I don’t know, but whatever the reason it was not needed and exceptionally rude. I also came across Langdale Lakes regulars in a camper van who also behaved like the seasonal pitch holders and kept walking across our pitch instead of going around our unit. These regulars even walked across our hand standing in front of the warden (whilst I was talking to him) and the warden said absolutely nothing about the intrusion!
During my week at the site I stayed near Lily Lake and despite spending over 40 hours on the bank trying to capture a carp or two, I have to say they eluded me. The fishing was tough, very tough and whilst there was a bloke a couple of pegs down who managed to pull three out (was it the three rods and bait boat that gave him the edge I wonder?) not much else came out.
There are carp in the lake – I could see them basking in the sun, wallowing around the edge sucking insects off the leaves and pollen floating on the water’s surface and mocking/laughing at me but I could not get one to take a bait. That’s the way fishing is sometimes but it doesn’t make me want to go back any real time soon. I did manage to pull out a few roach and small bream, but even they were hard work. The fishing on this site is challenging (very challenging) and, based on my experience, I cannot recommend it. If you like sitting by the water with silent alarms or with a float tip that doesn’t move this place is ideal, if this is not your sort of fishing then…… you’d be better of looking elsewhere.
So would I return to Langdale Lakes? This is not an easy question. The only thing that ruins Langdale Lakes for me are the seasonal pitch holders and their attitude and behaviour toward the touring units. The road noise and train noise I can deal with, but the seasonal pitch holders are a different matter.
Remove the seasonal pitches and turn it to a touring site only and I would be back like a shot but the way it stands at the moment I would just about consider booking a couple of nights mid-week when the number of seasonal pitch holders are at a minimum.

Just spent 4 lovely days at Langdale Lakes. Beautiful site and lovely warm welcome from the owners Tony and Karen who showed us to our caravan pitch which was right next to the lake with a lovely view and right next to a fishing peg! The Wardens Vince and Jane were just as welcoming, informative and always available to give a helping hand. Thankyou. The facilities were spotless, grounds beautiful and obviously well cared for. The fishing was excellent, catching plenty of fish. 6/7 different species all in great condition and good weights
Bus stop at the end of the drive where you could catch the bus into Lincoln for some lovely shopping or hop off just up the road at Mach's Indian restaurant. Very nice. The George pub is 10 minute walk away which serves lovely meals too.
Look forward to returning later in the year. Thanks for a lovely relaxing few days

Stayed here for our first weekend of the season. Everything that others have said is true. It is a lovely site in a glorious setting. Our pitch had a pond in front of it with a tub on a bench with a note on it saying ' Please feel free to feed us. Love the Fish! Nice touch. Great owners & wardens too. Lincoln is a lovely place to visit and even though there was a very cold wind it didn't detract from the city.
The site looks as if it is mainly full of seasonal campers with 4 touring pitches but I may be wrong. The only issue we had was that as we were packing up & virtually ready to leave an outfit with a large van & 4x4 arrived and started to pitch up. Because of the configuration of the pitches if we hadn't have had a motor mover we would have been stuck. Not site's fault. Liked the site a lot & would love to revisit in the summer to see it in full leaf.

Found this site last minute after wanting to take the caravan for our first trip of the year, could not have chosen a better site, warm welcome on arrival, shown to our pitch which was right next to the lake - gorgeous, the facilities were immaculate, grounds were extremely well kept, we didn't fish but there were quite a few who were, we were told it was a well kept lake for fishing. We went half a mile along the road to The George public house and restaurant on our first night (Monday) although there were not many people in the restaurant the food was fantastic, two roast leg of lamb dinners for £10, the service was excellent. Short drive into lincoln for shopping or sight seeing, We would return to this site anytime.

Absolutely love this site. We have been back several times now and we are sure we will return time and again. The Wardens Vince and Jane are fabulous people who make you feel so welcome, it's like home from home! Excellent facilities in close proximity to the site. Good places to eat in the village of Langworth and not far from Lincoln for a day of retail therapy. Would definitely recommend!

Fantastic hosts that go out of their way to make sure you have a good stay.
Too far to walk to Lincoln and only 1/2 buses an hour into Lincoln which may be fine normally but not enough over Christmas Market weekend!
Nice village location with 2 pubs with food within 10 mins walk.
Over all would definitely go back, . On busy weekends could do with more toilets/showers, but otherwise a brilliant siite that does its owners proud.

I visited this site when the Lincoln City one was full. It was very pleasant and welcoming for a tired cyclist. It is down a drive from a main road, the A158, which isn't very good for cycling on because of the traffic density and speed, but the campsite could be reached less directly on minor roads, and the 6 bus from Lincoln goes by roughly every hour. At night I didn't find the campsite noisy from the road or the nearby railway line, the main sounds being from ducks on the ponds. It is a very well-kept campsite, with grassy areas around the lakes as well as places for caravans. The toilet block that I used was absolutely sparkling clean. The helpful warden told me about food, there is a place that does a Chinese buffet, but I chose 'The George' about half a mile down the road which had good food and good beer. I didn't notice any shops. I can't comment on child facilities as I didn't notice them. I thought the cost of staying with a lightweight tent very reasonable.
I would gladly use this campsite again.

We had a 5 night stay on this great little park.
Having promised our son we would go for a week away fishing this proved to be a real gem.
Upon arrival we were met at the gate by the friendly warden who showed us to our pitch.
Facilities were of a good standard and cleaned on a regular basis.
The fishing was good with lots of advice from the seasonal and local fishermen. Make sure you book your peg the night before as it can get quite busy.
Lincoln was just a 20 minute bus ride away, £15 return for 2 adults and 1 teenager.
Plenty of wildlife on site with birds of all varieties.
Railway track at the back of one of the pools carries some freight but this did not bother us at all.

We have just returned from Langdale Lakes after a brilliant weekend. Not only is the site spotlessly clean in all aspects but fishing is good too. With additional extras's that make the fishing enthusiast right at home.
It also features a very pleasant Dog walk which you can take you dog off the lead as it is all fenced in.
We will definitely be returning, a 10/10 site.
If we could suggest a 'map' of the lakes showing the pegs and which ones that are not reserved as the small sign that is currently used can be easily missed.

What a delightful place ! The owners were so genial & helpful that I don't think there are enough stars to cover the review ! The toilet/shower areas were like walking into your own bathroom; beautiful & clean with loads of hot water. There was a campers kitchen with a microwave, toaster, sink, kettle, mugs & a breakfast bar with a couple of stools. I was cycle camping so I was invited to pitch on the owners lawn so I was near all the facilities, plus a had a fence to lean my bike on. There was a little noise from the road at the end of the site, but this was hardly noticeable. I was given details about the local eating places, and repeatedly asking if there was anything I needed. There were lots of regular visitors on the site, & you can see why ! Excellent value for money.
