This is a really lovely campsite, in a wonderful location, sat outside in the beer garden in the evening the view is breathtaking, very peaceful and relaxing, the food is excellent and very resonably priced. The owners are very helpful and friendly.
The pitches are spacious, there is plenty of room for the kids to play, we found all the children on this site very friendly and polite, they all joined in and played together, which was really nice. If your looking for that bit of peace and quiet, then i would definitely recommend this site.

What a great little site!

It's position on a hill top gives superb views across Somerset.

There is a small shop, bar, restaurant, toilet block, showers......everything really!

Very friendly owners, adventure playground for the kids and some nice walks nearby for the dog too!

Improved water supply coming in during this year with a tap for just about every pitch.

Highly recommended.

Spent New Year here and have to say it was the best New Year in years. Ang and Ken were so friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. The site is well laid out with CCTV, we had plenty of space on our pitch and there is plenty of room for kids to play outside in open space where you can see them plus a games room, the pub/bar is brilliant. Although the toilet/shower block was small it was always clean and warm and and we will be definately be going back there.

A lovely quiet campsite with some spectacular views.
Cheddar gorge is within an hours drive as are the Mendips and Glastonbury.
We have been here twice now and the owners are consantly improving the site.
The shop sells a good range along with locally made products
A small pub resturant with seating outside taking in the breathtaking view!
the showers arent fantastic but are being replaced soon.

Just got back from spending Christmas in one of the statics on site - we normally camp in a tent but I just ain't that brave (or stupid). Again, we had a very pleasant stay and were treated very well by Ken and Ang, the site owners. We had our Christmas lunch cooked by Ken too and it was really good not to have to cook it ourselves for once. A great atmosphere in there as well with the rest of the 'Christmas campers'. It's a shame the site isn't a little closer to home for us or we would probably visit more often (it's about four hours away for us). If you want peace and quiet (and a pretty decent cooked meal and a beer) then give the place a go. Thanks again Bowden's Crest! xx

A wonderful site elevated and overlooking the somerset flats, level field for tents caravans and motorhomes. Little shop with everything you need, a small bar/restaurant, games room for the kids. It does have an older 60's style toilet/shower block, but it was clean and well kept (most important). Plate wash area and laundry with outside rotary lines. A great kids park - our little one really enjoyed it. Access into park was easy but as stated in Rattys review we would not like to meet another van!!
We will return and will recommend to others

A great site, very remote yet near enough to a town to not feel too secluded should you need to go out.

The site is made up of tourers and statics and as we were here on a UKCampsite.co.uk meet I got the chance to take a peek into some of the statics that members had hired.

The statics were clean and comfortable and came with everything you need for the stay.

The touring field was flat and well looked after and appeared to drain very well, although it didn't rain that hard when we were there, there was never a problem underfoot.

The owners guide you to your pitch and will even pitch your van should you need help reversing.

There is a bar and restuarant on site offering remarkably cheap food, £1.50 for a giant jacket spud and 75pence for a burger, there was plenty more on there but that gives you an idea.

There is also a kiddies play area and games room which both kept the children well occupied during our stay.

There is a shop on site stocking all the essentials and they will get you a paper for the following day if you order the night before.

The site is quite remote and the roads into the site are ok, but I wouldn't fancy meeting another caravan coming the other way, it is a single track road and fortunately a dead end so not a great deal of traffic travels along it.

Langport is 1.5miles away with a selection of shops and pubs etc and a Tesco that is open until 10pm everynight apart from Sundays.

Bridgewater and Glastonbury are around 10 miles away and Cheddar is about 15 miles away which makes for a great family day out with the caves and the gorge etc.

A great site with friendly owners and one that I will return to when next in the area.

Hi campers we stayed at Bowdens crest for the new year 2003/2004, not a bad site but they had lot of trouble with the electrics tripping several times a night over the whole of the 3 days. Having said all that I hope to make it again for this new year.
They had a new clubhouse built the end of last year also a resaurant the home cooked meals are very good. After all that there's not much more to say about the site the owners are helpfull etc and the area is not bad. So cheerio for now have great meet. cadesa3

Just returned from a very relaxing weekend at Bowdens Crest. The shower block if I'm honest is a little basic but it is clean and the showers are free which is always something that I like to see at campsites. We struggled a little with getting our tent pegs in but after some perserverance, we got there!
The owners are lovely, bless them! They made us very welcome when we arrived and were there to see us off when we left. We are going back at Christmas too (although not brave enough to camp - we have the luxury of a static). We will be having Christmas dinner there too and are really looking forward to it because Ken (the owner and chef) produced some really good food while we were there and we can't wait to sample some more!
The site is well off the beaten track and very peaceful which to me is what camping is all about. If you need a base in Somerset that offers friendliness, good food and beer and some spectacular views, then Bowdens Crest is the sort of place you should be heading for! Thanks Angela and Ken - looking forward to seeing you again soon.

We visited on bank holiday weekend and it was pretty quiet. Parking area is outside the field, away from the main site, so there's rarely any sound of traffic, if any. They only allow cars on the day of arrival or transfer, between set times.

We hired a static caravan for 4 days, found it to be clean, with everything you need (TV, fridge, Microwave, Gas oven) and all cutlery provided. Beds were clean, with linen provided - you just had to make them when you arrived. The only items we had to bring were our own towels. Site is friendly - I particularly liked the option of ordering papers the night before, which arrive by 9am. No extra charge, just the price of the paper. The shop has the food basics, plus lager and wine (we enjoyed the JP Chenet Red, for £4.50)

Camping field was small, but quiet, only saw about 5 tents max.

Would definately go back, recommended.
Site overall was tranquil and peaceful, just as they say and in an ideal location for touring the Somerset area.
