We had a great stay. The site is very clean, toilet and shower block heated and showers are free. Hot water provided in wash up area. Owners friendly, caring and helpful. 1 mile walk to village where there is a good pub serving good food and beer. Free range eggs available to purchase on site and rare breeds sausages can be ordered. Will go back and definitely recommend

This year was our second visit to this campsite because the site is quite beautiful and very, very clean. We use the camping field which has the advantage of lovely views over a meadow to woodland. The site has been considerately quiet both times we have visited, even though there have been plenty of tents and caravans using the site. The facilities are very well maintained with the toilets and showers always clean, unlimited hot water when you shower (which is very good when it is cool and wet), and the use of a freezer to keep your ice blocks cold as well as a washing machine and tumble drier should the need arise.
The site is within walking distance of the North York Moors Steam railway with Levisham Junction being a nice stroll of a couple of miles through the local countryside. There are ample options at nearby Pickering for all your grocery requirements, and loads of fine weather and wet weather things to do in the area.
The only thing that would stop me giving this site 10/10 for everything is the limited recycling options (and the thought that everyone will go there now which may make it difficult for us to book!).
We hope to return again.

We visited our local camping shop during the autumn sales and, guess what? came out with yet another tent! The weather forecast was good for late September and Bank Top seems a good site to try out the new tent. A quick phone call on Friday morning and we booked two nights with no deposit asked for.
We arrived to a friendly welcome from the owner and signed in at the small office just through the entrance. £14 per night with no electric proved to be worth every penny. We were shown the toilet block, showers, undercover wash up area and then given a choice of places to pitch.
We can only echo what other reviewers have said. The toilet/shower facilities are very high quality and spotless. Lots of free hot water, free soap at the wash basins and free pan scrubbers and washing up liquid in the washing up area. The camping area grass, sorry lawn, is beautifully kept and did not slope as much as we expected. There are plenty of flat areas big enough for large tents. We would describe the site as gently undulating. The main field has plenty of hook ups and seemed to be favourite with the caravans. The smaller, adjacent field had just tents on it and only a couple of hook up. Tall trees on the north and east boundaries provide lots of shelter from any cold north-easterly winds. The southern aspect is more open and allows sunshine to cover the site for most of the day.
True there is no kids playground but when our son was small he just loved to be camping and always found new friends to play with on an open camp site.
We had two meals at the pub in Rawcliffe and they were good value for money. It is not a five star a la carte restaurant but serves good portions of quality pub grub at a reasonable price. The Timothy Taylors Landlord did not touch the sides.
It is impossible to list everything there is to do on the North Yorkshire Moors and we are still finding new things after fifty years of visiting - like staying at Bank Top!
Highly recommended. * * * * *

When booking any campsite we always look at the reviews on Uk campsites couldn't find anything negative about this site as a lot of others have put it really is a hidden gem!
We have a large tent this was not a problem at all as the pitch sizes are very generous the idea of keeping all pitches around the edge and none in the centre works really well wish more sites did this. On arrival we were even given a choice of other pitches the owner was so helpful.
The facilities are very new and was spotlessly clean right through our 5 night stay plenty of hot water, Pot washing area again very clean at all times the owner leaves out washing up liquid nice touch! A room with fridge and freezer was available very handy.
The West side of the field has the flattest pitches a consideration if you have a large tent. The pitches in the east corner of the field are a little uneven but not a problem for a small tent. The overflow field is the flattest but has limited EHU and was a little bit less sheltered from westerly winds.
The site rule of keeping the noise down after 1030pm works a very peaceful, delightful site a real credit the the owner.
Will be certainty be returning again.

This site is one of the best sites we have ever stayed at. It is in an excellent position for touring Whitby, the north Yorkshire moors and surrounding areas. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The pitches are an excellent size and not overcrowded.
The facilities are spotless and well maintained. There is a washing machine, tumble drier and fridge available. Can not fault this site at all. Cant wait to go again.

2 night stay on non-electric pitch. Field was perfectly manicured - better than my lawn and very flat! We thought it would be very busy but not at all crowded and although no play area for our 2 children, they were more than happy playing in the space in front of the tent.
Toilet block was spotless and plenty of hot water. Eggs for sale in laundry room in addition to cakes on sale in aid of local primary school.
Owners very friendly and helpful. Very reasonable price too. Couldn't fault the site and definitely will be returning.

Just got back from a lovely short break at Bank Top Farm. We were warmly greeted by the owner who is a excellent host and her attention to detail shows in providing a first class venue.
Newly built shower and amenity block has no end of hot water with two showers to each gender, plus a large family bathroom. Undercover pot washing to the end of the building, laundry room with fridge and freezer free to use, also well stocked with magazines and books as well as information leaflets. Another very nice touch was the ability to buy free range eggs, local sausages and ice-cream but sadly we were to late to sample the home-made cake.
Located one and a half miles from the village each way, so make sure you take all your provisions with you-don't forget the milk! Pickering 5 miles, has a co-op supermarket, butchers, bakers, and probably candle stick makers! Large triangular field with pitches around the perimeter with nothing in the middle which enables children to play safely. This field has quite a gradient to it which is the only downside when pitching a tent. Would recommend pitching in overflow field with limited EHU, as this was flatter.
A good remote site, for nearby coast, moors, NYMR plus war-time weekends and forestry commission sites.
All in all could not fault this site and can't wait to return in the near future.

We stayed for two nights mid week in a tent with our two boys and two dogs.
On arrival we received a warm friendly welcome from the site owner who showed us around the immaculate toilet & laundry block before walking us to our pitch.
The site was exceptionally well maintained, the grass in both fields were well mown and there was plenty of space for children to play in. The adjacent woods were perfect for walking the dogs in and conveniently accessed through a gate in the site fence.
The food at The White Swan inn was lovely and like the site I'd recommend to anybody.

I booked to stay here 5 nights. I needed a site where tents and caravans could be next to each other and they were able to assist with this. I was travelling with my parents (72 yrs+) who were in their caravan. I have a 3-man tent. Ground in good condition - plenty of shelter with trees hedges if required.
The welcome was warm and genuine. I was shown a number of places where I could pitch - they had kept a good space for us, but totally understood if I wanted to choose another pitch. The field is a good size, on a gentle slope in places, well drained, plenty of electricity and water. They only put units around the edge - no lines and lines of tents / vans here. There is an overflow field, a great spot too. In the end settled for the spot at the top of the field to catch the morning / afternoon / evening sun, next to the gate that goes out into the woods.
This is an excellent site. Friendly, first-class facilities (clean, modern, well thought out, warm) - washer / drier for use, fridge / freezer too. Local eggs available for sale. The owners even provide soap, washing up liquid and a brillo pad. Great touches.
The site is about a 10 min drive to Pickering, plenty of shops there etc. A quiet road runs along one side of the main field (farm traffic mainly - def not noisy).
I have scored only 7/10 for children - no play areas - indeed this is why I booked it. There is plenty of space in the field for kids to play - but there are no clubs, discos, pools, swings etc that people seem to expect.
This is a great place for a few nights or longer (my parents stayed on after I left) and they thoroughly enjoyed it - we have been camping for 45+ years in the UK and overseas, and we are in a position to judge this as a great location and well run operation. The owner and her husband make great hosts and appreciate the things that people need / like / enjoy. I will be back!

Medium size open plan site. Two fields - one larger with electric hook-ups mainly populated by large tents, a couple of caravans and campers.
The nice thing about this site is that they only have pitches around the edge of the fields which makes it really open and spacious with plenty of space in the middle if you want to play frisbee (and even if you do, there's no danger of encroaching on anyone).
Liked: Spacious, large pitches, helpful friendly staff, quiet (apart from some farm animal noises :))Ample nice clean facilities. Good value - £14/night if you don't need electricity
Disliked: Not much. Maybe some hedges between pitches would be nice.
Definitely recommended.
