This is a lovely friendly little site just spent 3 nights there, we wanted piece & quite with dark skies as we are sky watchers, we were not disappointed! great views of the Milky way on a clear night. I was lucky enough to see a deer, a hare, rabbits & lots of little birds on my dog walk every morning & very friendly robin who would come & pinch the dogs food from her dish.

Facilities are everything you will need & very clean & modern the showers always hot & plenty of room.

Although if you have children there isn't a play area but a large grass area in the middle for football & other games.

We will definitely be going back this was are first time in are new caravan & we had a very relaxing few days.

Spent a fab four night break in July at this lovely peaceful family run site. However I've been a bit busy and lazy so just got round to leaving review now.

The owners took a great deal of pride in the place and it really showed. From the minute we drove through the gates we were highly impressed by the superbly maintained field. The pitches were spacious and situated around the edge leaving loads of room in the middle for kids to play allowing us to keep an eye on our little boy which was great.

The shower & toilet blocks were absolutely immaculate with shaver sockets, hairdyer etc. There was also a spacious family room with shower, toilet, wash basin, baby bath and changing facilities which is handy for those with little ones. A Laundry room with coin operated washer & dryer, fridge and freezer (free to use) and also plenty of leaflets on local attractions. Dishwashing area was also spotless with plenty hot water, washing up liquid & sponges.

Although the site didn't have a play area there were scooters a few toys and books for the kids to use which is very thoughtful and also there is a lovely play area in the local village 1 mile down the road.

If you want a quiet break this site is ideal with lots of little or long walks to stretch the legs.

The only downside I can think of is that the pub in the village didn't open till six but you can't blame that on the campsite.

This lovely little campsite is a real gem and we will definitely be returning next year and hopefully for many more to come.

Really good camp site, a hidden gem. Facilities are 3 years old but very clean and still look brand new. Good showers, laundry room and freezer for ice packs Owner very friendly and helpful.

Fantastic value for money £17 a night peak season 2 adults and 2 children.

Only downside is the location, it is a little remote if you want to travel further a field for days out, but if rural is what you are looking for then this is the place.

Immaculate, New facilities - separate mens, womens, family & disabled rooms with x3 toilets, x2 spacious, hot showers (push buttons) & x3 sinks in both womens & mens. Family room included shower, toilet, sink, baby bath & potty. Each rooms had hairdryers but didn't need them as I'm bald they even had washing machine and tumble dryer and you can purchase fresh eggs on site.

Stayed for 3 days wish it was more as the place was beautiful, the owners were brilliant and very helpful, shops/pubs not far away. We took our Great Dane Oscar and he loved it as there is wood next to site were you can walk your dogs, definitely recommend this place and will be returning for many more holidays come rain or shine.

Would like to thank the owners for our lovely time at Bank Top!

Stayed on overflow field (on right hand side of gate).

2 Adults, 2 children (aged 12&9) + 1 dog, Hi Gear Khalahari 8 tent plus porch - plenty of room, didn't feel squashed together with other campers.

*Overflow field best for tents with limited EHU

*Immaculate, modern facilities - separate mens, womens, family & disabled rooms with x3 toilets, x2 spacious, hot showers (push buttons) & x3 sinks in both womens & mens. Family room included shower, toilet, sink, baby bath & potty. Each rooms had hairdryers, all had underfloor heating.

*Bike, scooter & other toys available for younger children to use - perfectly located in washing up area which consisted of 2 sinks (this is outdoors but had roof for shelter)

*Main field had mainly touring caravans & was on quite a slope

*Overflow field on less of a slope but quite bumpy ground (not too bad round edges though)

*No problems getting pegs in/out

*No shop but Pickering only a 10 min drive

*Surrounded by woodland (ideal for walking dog)

*Lovely drive through moors to Whitby

*Beautiful location

*Fairly priced - cost us £16. 50/night inc EHU

*Check in 1pm/departure 12pm

We will most definitely return!

My first visit to Bank Top Farm and what a find. I'm a camper that hates crowds and noise, my idea of camping is to pitch up in a uncrowded field and enjoy the peace and quiet, which is exactly what I did.

The number of pitches only takes up about 20% of the ground area, so there will still be a sense of space when full. The facilities are first class, under floor heating in the toilets.

Laundry room with fridge and a good selection of brochures and magazines. The outdoor dish washing area was spotless, washing up liquid and scrub included. The owner obviously takes pride in her site and it shows.

I could not find any thing that made me lift a eyebrow, in fact when you go into the toilets you feel compelled to mop the floor on your exit so as not to leave any footprints.

Good base for trips to the coast, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and a number of cycle routes.

Would I go there again? - Can't wait

Loved this site, the children have begged to go back next year. Our only grumble was the weather, but that is out of the owners control.

Warm welcome, the owners were extremely helpful they even came round to check on everyone after a torrential downpour. Immaculate toilet, shower, etc.

Free range eggs for sale, laundry room. Nice pub in the village.

If you get up for the toilet in the middle of the night you get the bonus of seeing the milky way (no light pollution my daughter said she had never seen so many stars).

Great value for money just hope they don't put the prices up! Short drive to places to visit.

We visited this site for 5 days in July, and it was superb. We had a very warm welcome from the owners which was great as we arrived on a motorbike(sometimes we get a bit of a frosty welcome).

As said before the toilet block is immaculate, probably the best we've seen.

An ideal place to stay as there's plenty to do in the area.

When I go back to the area, I will definitely stay here again.

If you do stay in this great campsite have a look around to see if you can find a tree with a monkeys face, if you cant find it ask Caroline. It will keep the kids occupied for hours.

Just got back from a wonderful week at Bank Top. I've very little to add to all the great reviews this site rightly deserves - it really is superb.

The location is great to explore North Yorkshire. The village of Newcliffe is about a mile or so down the road with a pub and a tea room next door. It's a 4 mile drive into Pickering which has quite a big Co-op, a range of local shops and some good takeaways.

The site itself is pretty level with a big(ish) main field (tents and caravans around the edge leaving a nice space for children to run around and play in the middle) and a little field off to the left which is where we had our pitch.

The amenity block is outstanding. It's sparkling clean with free showers and hair dryers and nice touches such as the towel so you don't have to use the electric hand dryer at night, washing up liquid and scourer provided in the immaculate washing up area and the delicious eggs and local sausages for sale in the room with the washing machine, dryer, fridge and freezer.

We camped as a group of three families with children ranging from 3 to 15 (I'm told the family shower and toilet room was brill) and were all made to feel extremely welcome by the owner Caroline.

We were all too bushed to be up much beyond 10. 30pm so, with regard to the previous comment, keep up the good work with the curfew, a peaceful and relaxing holiday is what I want from the perfect campsite and this is it.

This site is a hidden gem. We experienced some British weather during our visit, and the ground was waterlogged briefly, but cleared quite quickly. The under-floor heating in the immaculate toilet and shower block was a godsend on chilly wet mornings.

This site had all we needed for a tenting holiday for a family with two teenagers and a small dog. The only downside was that you had to take your car into Newton-under-Rawcliffe, as the roadway was dangerous, being only one car wide, with steep banking either side.

The site is excellent value for money, and the owners were pleasant, helpful, and available almost all of the time. Freezer packs, mobile phone charging, laundry etc were no problem.

Shopping in Pickering was OK but parking is very limited, especially at the weekend. The nearby steam railway, and Pickering flea market are both well worth a visit
