Visited this site in mid July, weather could have been better bit windy, showers, typical British weather in fact, but that aside this was a good weekend. The site consists of toilet/shower blocks which were very clean and modern with very good sized showers, although there were only two showers in our block (just as well the site wasn't busy), although there were three blocks in total.
The main camp pub called the tow bar was very nice with a kids room as well as an adult only bar Friday night was disco night they also did takeaway food, pizzas, burgers or nuggets on the menu, but there was a fish shop 50 yards higher up also round by the duck pond on the left as you enter the site is a little pub called the cow shed small and out of the way but friendly staff and also good cheap meals. The site has a swimming pool and kids playground also indoor amusements and small supermarket.
A short walk along the cliff edge gives access to the beach. Five minutes down the road towards skipsea sands is mr moo's ice cream parlour which offers such delights as apple crumble ice cream really is worth a visit. For all you shopaholics on holiday the camp also hosts a huge market and car boot every Sunday. 5 miles from hornsea and 9 miles from bridlington all combine to make this a first class site

After reading some of the earlier reviews we nearly cancelled our half term week booking. Thank goodness we didn't!
No sign of any transit vans and no problems with the electric at all. But toilet block although usable could have done with a deeper clean than the quick daily clean it seemed to get. The shower cubicle was large but had no separate changing area so your clothes got wet unless you took a plastic bag. A mop and bucket would have been a good idea to clean before or after your own use.
We had a super pitch, so had plenty of room but could see that those on the grass pitches were a little close to each other. Our pitch was super flat, a concrete hardstanding and a sandy / gravel awning area, practical but annoying having to constantly sweep it out of awning!
Being half term the site was packed yet the thing that absolutely amazed us was how quiet the whole site felt. The pool was smaller than we thought and did seem busy, thou I can recommend the early morning adults only session. We only ventured to the evening entertainment once for the family race night but there was different acts and bingo on other nights.
Take away was good, and we heard good reports about the restaurant but didn't try ourselves. The shop seemed well stocked but we only used it for the basic milk and bread restock. Each sunday there is a massive market / car boot on site where we bought our fresh veg and meat plus the usual tempting treats.
Access down to the sandy/pebbly beach is via a sandy slope from the adjoining campsite, though the cliff tops are obviously eroding badly.
Loads of places locally to visit, more than enough to keep you busy but it was so relaxing on site we only went on a few day trips.
Would definitely return, but have been so smitten by the area that would want to go further along the coast towards Whitby.

Turned up with a caravan 2 kids and a dog.£25 a night. We stopped on the grassed area. Clean toilets and showers and a handy on site shop. Excellent play area for the kids.
Brid only a short drive away. All in all a good site but could be cheaper for pitches. The beach is only a stones throw away with great views. There's a swimming pool too and club entertainment at nights. Standing room only if your not eary.
If you leave the site turn left and travel a mile there's a nice pub to the rite that does cheap meals.

We visited this site for Easter recently and we were not impressed at all.
On arrival we headed to our pitch and had to drive through what seemed like an endless trail of transit vans! The caravans on the first stretch were so close together you could not even park a car between the awnings and the next caravan.
We paid for a pitch with electricity and by Friday night we had lost count of how many times we had no electricity, one of those times lasted well over 1 hour. We spent most of the weekend with the electricity going on an off, plus it was off all night for 2 consecutive nights!
We were not happy at all about this as £25 per night for what turned out to be mostly a grass pitch is not good enough.
My husband braved the toilets nearest our pitch and he is not a picky person at all but he was disgusted by the state of the toilets, there was toilet paper hanging from the ceilings and it was really dirty.
In all the time we were there we say one really old man (presumably the cleaner) come to the toilet blocks but we never saw him with any cleaning implements??
The showers in the ladies were of the same standard I felt dirty getting out of them.
We did complain I am afraid to say for the first time ever while caravanning and we were offered a credit note as a one night refund, but I declined this offer.
The groundsman on site did all he can to keep things going with the electricity I think but the site is old and needs a serious update, the system can not take the amount of vans that there is on the site.
We were the first to enter the swimming pool and the changing room floor was dirty with muddy foot marks all over. I had to stand my two children on the 1 chair that there was so that their clothes did not get mucky.
The jacuzzi has not worked since the middle of last season according to the staff and the owner has no intention of fixing it!
The site itself (grassed areas) seemed clean and the club was ok, it was close to the beach and sea, but there is quite a steep walk down to the beach from the cliff tops. But some areas really put us off and we will not be going back.

Easter Bank Holiday weekend with our 6 year old and inlaws. We have stayed on this campsite many times and had fantastic breaks as a family with teenage to young school children on hardstanding and grass.
We were sited by the campsite staff just 2 feet from the water point so every time anyone got any water the van got a soaking! as we were with my inlaws we were unable to move because there were no other double pitches available.
The evenings were more fun the power tripped all the time and at one stage I had put the power back on twice within 15 minutes - the site did call someone out to repair it as a very large area of the touring part had lost power completely for a good few hours - less than 2 days later we were back to the power tripping all the time, when we did have power it was at reduced voltage 208v not the 230v it should have been so we struggled to charge the vans battery.
Just to make the point when the power was tripping it was not the individual pitch breakers but the main breaker for each row, this was woefully inadequate for the job it was being asked to do, many if not most of the tourers were losing power all weekend.
If your going to stay here try for hard standing first the toilet block needs a makeover as not a good at the ones near the grass - if you are on the grass pitch I hope you have better luck than us!

We have been coming here for a number of years, great site plenty to do for the children, amusements arcade including a bowling alley and play area, outdoor play area and ball park, pitch & putt, swimming pools including jacuzzi sauna and steam room, shop and take away, also two restraurants serving really good food, lounge bar and two entertainment rooms the only down side with this site is that children are allowed into both entertainments area, which means that some of the artist have to tone down their act also some parents just let their children run around the dance floor, it would be OK if they did not have their own room and their own entertainment, but the children are catered for in the family room even having competitions and their own entertainment.

The Skirlington caravan site is situated in-between Hornsea and a small village called Skipsea.
On the site, there are facilities follows:
A Swimming pool Inc. Sauna, Steam Room and a jacuzzi
There is also a pub called The Tow Bar Inn where the Bingo is held most nights and there is also a family room located in the same building which includes kids disco and games etc.
There is no shortage of toilets on the site and are cleaned several times a day by an on-site handy man called David who works all day every day of the week.
Also situated on the site is A Fish and Chip shop and a shop selling general items. Both of which have new management.
There is also an amusements arcade located in the same building which is a fair size.
The beach is only a 200 yard walk away from the cliff top and you get a really good view from the cliff top in the mornings.
As far as security goes this is probably the best I have ever experienced, In addition to security barriers which automatically come up at night, There is an independent security company that patrols the site until the early hours of the morning.
Overall if you are thinking of visiting this holiday site, I would thoroughly recommend it.

It's just great. Lots of facilities, so many you don't need to go beyond the site.
A great dog walk, and if you have kids, there is an immense amount to do. Hook up facilities were great. Shower block was good. Plenty of hot water, and the pot washing room had enough hot water as well.
Shame the walk to the beach was so steep ( dodgy hip)
Great entertainment, although the children's room seemed to be rather energetic with very little adult supervision. Maybe this was down to the parents being in the other room which was less appealing to the youngsters.
Food available more or less, all of the time.
Swimming pool, well just marvellous. A hot tub you can use and a spacious changing room.
Although expensive if you book on for the season, especially for the electric, it is worth paying for a good weekend.

This has to be one of our favourite sites that we have stayed on. We have stayed here on 3 occasions and are returning for 2 weeks this August. We prefer the super pitches, which are nearer to the amenities, play areas, shop, chippy, swimming pool etc. The shower blocks are very clean and warm, the club has several bars to suit most peoples tastes and there is also the cowshed pub on site which does very good meals. The carvery in the clubhouse on a sunday is good value (a stop off to refuel if walking around the Sunday market!) Carbooters are looked after as well on a sunday, scandalous entry fee though, 20p!
The onsite indoor pool was a hit with the kids, as was the excellent play area. The shop is of a decent size and stocks a good selection of wares, newspapers, beers etc. A good size amusement arcade is next door for the folks with bottomless pockets and will keep older kids quiet? if the weather is a little on the damp side.
A note on the weather, if you stay on a grass pitch, then some areas are prone to flooding if heavy rain persists.
The site operate security barriers at night which is reassuring. All in all, this is a first rate site, staff are friendly and helpful, it is a well laid out site, caters for adults and kids, plenty of space for bikes and football. Access to the beach is good, but the fishing lake is a bit hit and miss, have never heard of anyone catching much here. For anglers a better option is the fishery just down the road, turn right out of entrance and it is on your left about 1/2 a mile or so down the road.
First time we stayed here was for 4 nights and we never left the site, so that sums it up for us.
We recommend this site to anyone and are looking forward to returning soon.

First class site, it has every think you could want, swimming pool 2 parks, shop, its own market on sundays, prize bingo, variouse club houses. Very quiet site, we felt so safe there, on a night a security van drives round, bins emptied daily, exceptionaly clean through out fab showers and toilets, it even has a bath. All in all a first class site, best wev been to, so good were thinking of returning next week, would deff recommend to all.
