june 2004 This is our local site just 30 minutes drive from home. Have been to the sunday market many times but this is the 1st time we have stayed on the park. This was our 1st outing with our new caravan, and wow! we were impressed with the site. Very roomy site, we found the toilets and showers very clean and the heat hits you as soon as you walk in. (nothing worse than a cold shower block) facilitys good but we didnt use the club house so cannot comment on that. Overall a site that we will use again & again.

July 2003 Well, pretty much the same comments as other users on here.
I didn't find the state of the toilets too bad. EXCELLENT fish & chips considering this is the East Coast of Yorkshire (and before anyone gets upset about this comment.....I'm a TRUE Yorkshireman from Leeds).
The site owner doesn't mess about it seems, if there's a problem....he'll sort it straight away!
Big Market and car-boot sale on a Sunday til late.
Excellent swimming pool (indoor) apart from being told off about diving in THE DEEP END.
Amusement arcade could really do with more maintenance to the machines!! We've been to Skirlington twice in a month with a weekend break in-between and one of the two pinball machines was STILL out of order!! The other one STILL had the same faults on from two weeks before!!
Lovely place but a bit of a bind to get to the beach! We'll be going back again.
Apart from the few (and I do mean few) dead-heads, the place is lovely and well looked after.

July 2003 Caravan site advertised as five star. We were expecting great things. This was to be our first trip out with our new caravan and 15month old daughter. On arrival the staff were very pleasant and proffesional. We were accomodated with a pitch as far away from the club house as possible. As it is a large site this didn't seem to be a problem. Unfortunatly when I used the toilet block I found faeces smeared on the wall of one of the toilets. I figured it would be cleaned after I mentioned it to reception. The night time came and we just put our daughter to sleep at 1930hrs. She woke very soon with the thump thump music of the disco. The first night I walked over and asked what time it would be finished to be told ' not much longer'. It finally finished at midnight. we had this for four nights. The first morning I walked over to the toilet block to see the chap cleaning the toilet seats with the mop he had used for the floors. I walked toward the reception where the toilets were a LOT cleaner. I walked over at midday and the faeces was STILL THERE. I complained again. This time it had been wiped, but the larger lumps remained. I tried to get a refund but was told it was at managment discression. The answer was no. we stayed only because our holiday trip had been paid for. On our final night we decided a pizza might be nice. When we got it back it was stone cold in the middle. We again complained and got our money back, but for a FIVE STAR RATING we expected just a little more. Sorry, we will never be returning here.

May 2003 Visited the site on recomendation from a friend. Found it very friendly and the staff very helpful. The facilities on site were o.k. but showers and toilets got a bit mingy by midday but this was usually down to kids that were not being kept an eye on by parents who were quite happy as long as they weren't bothering them. This said we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definately be going again as will our friends on our recommendation. To round it up:-
Good level pitches, good facilities, good entertainment, good beer, good access and on site roads and signing. Big bonus is plenty of room for twin- axles. Campers and caravanners mixed around the sight and everybody gets on.

may03 Our local weekend site,an hours drive. Can be noisy depending where you get a pitch but off peak not too bad at all.
Good club but get in early on a weekend if you want a seat & can be hot at times. Chippy and shop ok, market wed and Sun worth a visit but can be too crowded in summer.
Nice beach if the steps are in place to get down to it.

July 2003 Very good site, though it does get crowded at the weekends. We can't comment on the caravan pitches but stayed on the camping field which our three children thoroughly enjoyed as a great big field was there for them to run around. They advertise access to the beach but from where we were camping and with small children it was too far to walk them there. We agree with the comment earlier, why do they clean the amenities first thing in the morning before anyone uses them? Otherwise a decent playground, good shop and a safe site for the children to play on (unless you are in a static up on the cliffs) Friendly staff make this a site worth visiting and I got some decent trail riding in on my mountain bike as well!!

July 2003 Spent our first ever camping experience here. Overall quite impressed, had plenty of room for our large tent, toilets and showers could have been a bit cleaner(but not too bad) shop well stocked and reasonably priced, NICE fish and chips and other fast food, swimming pool, playground, entertainment and large market and boot sale on a Sunday. Access to the beach via a VERY steep slope, but nice once down. Our 1 and 3 year old had a fab time and so did we! We'd definately go again.

July 2003 Just been to Skirlington for the first time and was very impressed with the facilities. As other reviewers say though it gets very busy especially at the weekend and especially at the start of the kids holidays. Toilets and showers were spotless, the shop was ok (only bought the papers), the chippy looked ok too. We had a meal in the club and it was fine. Also ate and drank at the 'Cowshed' in the market area, small but a nice atmosphere and they do a mean Sunday breakfast. will we be going back?, yes but not before we've been to some other sites, we're new to all this you see!

2/8/02 Not one of the best sites I have stayed on. Toilets and showers are not very clean and seem to have a bad odour. Shop OK, didn,t use fish and chip shop but had sunday lunch in resurant on site, it was a carvery and very reasonably priced. The beer in the club was a very nice pint also. The sunday market is large and gets very busy. There is some iron steps leading onto a nice beach.

July 2002 we have spent quite a bit of time at skirlington, camping as it is easy for us to get there abt 1 hour and also my wife as relatives with a static there so we can join the family, we have stayed there twice this year up to press and last weekend was the latest, it was absolutely heaving, our pitch was among approx 8 caravans and tents and i thought we was lucky to have that much space, i do find that the facilities are ok swimming pool is ok even though you have to pay at a reduced fee if your staying there, the clubhouse gets packed on a sat night so go early if your kids want to disco (we have a 4 yr old girl thats just starting!) the shop has about everything at a reasonable price, a good fish & chip shop, and a big market on a sunday, it depends on what you want i am afraid that i would prefer a bit quieter as it does seem to get the louder people there, and at times it feels as though there packing you in while they can especially when it is gorgeous weather. the wash facilities are ok but i have seen cleaner especially at the end of the day, i dont understand why there cleaned out early in the morning and never again or maybe that it seems that way!
