Myself, husband and 3 small girls (4, 4 and 2) stayed at this wonderful site over the jubilee weekend and had a fabulous stay.
It is a field with beautiful views, horses behind and pigs at the end of the entrance lane. A lovely walk into the little village where there is a play park and lots of room on the site for kids to run safely and play.
The facilities were kept very clean.
Two things really make this site for us - the owners who are so kind and friendly. They came to welcome us and were around every evening chatting to people and making for a great atmosphere. My husband thought he had lost his wallet and mentioned it; the owner came up later to check we were ok and had enough money. So kind.
Secondly, that these wonderful owners have such a great vision for the site. They kept the numbers down even on Jubilee weekend. Other sites seemed to cram people on but here it was quiet with space to play and not too much pressure on the facilities.
This is one of those sites you really want to recommend but you also don't because you don't want it to get busy! I hope they stay true to their vision and it continues to be so wonderful - we will definitely return.
Forbidden corner is a must and all the waterfalls made for great day trips with good walks manageable for little legs.

We have visited many camp sites in the UK, this has got to be one of the very best! The owners came to see us and gave us a few ideas of where to visit - such lovely people. The camp site itself is quite simply a field with an information hut (containing a fridge freezer)the information hut also came in handy for the kids to shelter in whilst we were yet again battling with the lovely British weather!)Next to the hut, a very spacious and clean toilet with plenty of loo roll, next to this a wonderfully hot (free) shower. Bliss! What more do your really need when camping? The kids loved it, especially as we had the field all to ourselves, other than a small caravan - luckily for the kids and us, a lovely Grandma & Grandad with their Grandson. So this was the on site entertainment!
We walked to the village pub next to the play area, the pub was closed (so check on opening times), but again the kids were happy playing on the play area.
All in all a wonderful family site, very clean and a bonus that it was quiet.
Thank you, and will definitely return!

We stayed at this campsite for 2 nights and had a lovely time. We stayed with our 3 young children & they really loved it too. It felt like a very safe and relaxed place to be. We didn't have to worry about too much traffic or it being too busy/hectic - there was only a handful of other people staying.
That's what makes the site so lovely - it isn't too busy & doesn't have too many people squashed into it. The owners were the nicest campsite owners we've ever come across and really care about getting it right. They made a real effort to come over and say hello and seem to have put so much care & enthusiasm into making the site a success.
Our children loved the horse at the bottom of the camping field, the big pig outside the campsite gate, the lovely little church set back on the lane (and all the rabbits running around it) and the freedom they were able to have because of the type of campsite it is. If people are wanting a play area then there's one in the village which is only a 10 minute walk away from the site.
The toilet and shower were both immaculate when we used them. There was plenty of soap and toilet roll in the toilet.
We will definitely return as it's one of the nicest campsites we've ever stayed on. The effort made by the owners to ensure their guests are happy and welcomed was lovely. We didn't put a comment in their 'Visitor's Book' as we were dashing off when we left so felt we had to put a review on here to let other people know what a great little site it is.
We just wish it was a bit closer to us so we could make it our regular weekend away campsite and visit more often!

This was our first visit to this new site near Bedale.
The site is located on farmland outside the lovely village of Crakehall a few miles from Bedale. The site itself consists of a large, grass field, which appears very well drained, with open views over the surrounding fields. A hedge runs down one side of the field, which should provide good shelter if the wind picks up. There are several picnic benches, which the kids (3 and 5) loved to sit and play at (when it was sunny, anyway!) The site is well away from main roads, so the only noise you'll hear is the odd tractor on the farm lane.
Obviously, this is a CL so one doesn't usually expect too much from the facilities, but this site really excels here. There is a single toilet and a single shower, both brand-new and immaculately maintained. The building itself isn't heated, but as the shower is lovely and warm (better than the one at home!) this never bothered us even though it was pretty chilly.
There is also a small room with a table and chairs and a fridge freezer - very useful to campers - and a few leaflets for local attractions.
The owners of the site couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful and were clearly keen to ensure that their guests enjoyed themselves. Couldn't ask for more :-)
Plenty to do in the surrounding area - The Forbidden Corner is about 20 minutes away (a must visit!) and Leyburn and Bedale are only a few miles drive in the car. Crakehall is about 15 minutes walk down a lovely footpath and there is a playground and a pub on the village green - a lovely place to spend an evening. There are chickens and pigs on the farm lane and a small hut that you can buy free-range eggs from (presumably, these come from the chickens not the pigs!)
Only criticism - there are only two electric hook-ups which the owners are planning to sort after the summer season. Of course this means that, for this year at least, you'll pretty much have the place to yourself!
This is as good a CL as you'd ever hope to find. Thoroughly recommended :-)

I was the first customer to visit this new site and my family and I stayed for 9 nights. We were very warmly welcomed by the site owners who could not do enough for us.
The site is spacious and peaceful with first class toilet and shower facilities. There is an information hut with leaflets etc. on surrounding attractions and a large map of the area.
The hut also contains a fridge freezer for the use of campers and a small table and chairs so that you can sit and read when the weather is not so good.
On the down side, there are only two hook-ups available currently but the owner tells me this will be increased to five, ready for next year. The ground is quite level but hard and stony under the grass, you need strong plastic, or better still, metal pegs.
Free Range eggs are available and are beautiful. There is a shop and garage in the village just a couple of minutes away, or the town of Bedale which has most of what you could want is only about a 3 mile drive away.
Certainly a site to book-mark.
