Just returned from spending two weeks on this site with our club (coventry morris) and found it to be excellent, staff very friendly, toilets & showers were spotless, grounds are well maintained too.
After reading through the reviews I can confirm that the waste / chemical disposal point apparently used to have a wall around it, now it has only a small step to it so much improved and easy to use. I didn't find the old tractor anywhere so that must have been removed and the entrance to the site has lovely flower beds leading in, so again this has been rectified The club house, bar and indoor pool and restaurant were very smart as are the kids play areas, my only gripe was the take away food left a lot to be desired, but apart from that we found it a very well run site.
All in all our club uses this site every year for three weeks at a time, although this was our first vist we will definitely be returning next year. We also had the great pleasure of meeting site members 'harrys mum & dad' while we were there (same club) and I'm sure they will pick me up if I have missed anything!

This is the fifth time we have visited this site in five years. We go on the same two weeks in June on a rally with a Caravan Club we belong to. I have to say that it is my favorite site in the country BUT I dont know what it would be like when it is full in mid summer. The pitch sizes are adequate but not massive.
The area that we have our rally on is behind the main building that contains an Indoor Swimming pool, restaurant, Chippy, Club Room and Arcade.
There is a big field that overlooks the sea that is open in the summer months adjacent to the campsite. That I would class as a rally field.
The restaurant do a nice 3 coarse carvery. And the take away Pizzas are great.
The showers are 20p but I always use 40p. They are kept very clean as are the toilets. There are washing and drying machines in the building that contains the indoor washing up sinks.
The club is open every night with entertainment provided. Bar prices are not to bad. Try a pint of Betty Stoggs.
There is a good playground for the kids with swings, pirate ship ,roundabouts Etc
The Indoor swimming pool has only been open for five years and is brilliant. It has a slide and a rapids section and a big section for toddlers. There is a lifeguard on duty at all times.
There is a small shop on site for the basics and beach goods.
We found all the Staff onsite to be very friendly and helpful.
Now the best bit.
If you go out of the back of the site at the left hand gate, a tarmac track takes you onto the Clifftop where if you do a left you will get to the beach at Mother Ivy's Bay. Do a right and walk along the cliff tops to Harlyn Sands Beach. Its a great walk for the dog, They are allowed on most beaches in the area all year long,
If you take the gate to the right out of the back of the site it will take you directly down to the Harlyn Sands Beach, about five minuets walk down a good track.
The area has a saying that there are, seven bays for seven days, and from the site four of them are within walking distance. And they are beautiful.
There is a village (St Merryn) that is five mins. Drive away with a few shops and a pub that serves good food, but my favorite is a pub called the Cornish Arms that is by the church 1/2 a mile outside the village. Well worth finding out.
Padstow is about a 10 min. Drive away where you will find a Tesco and anything to do with Rick Stine.
Farther afield is Wadebridge and Newquay.
If you fancy a cream tea try Berryfields Farm. It is on the coast road to Newquay from St Merryn. About 10 mins drive from the camp. Its a fabulous treat.
Eating out. There is a carvery at the Harlyn Inn every night. Also at the Farmers Arms in St Merryn. And a bit farther afield the Merrydown Pub at Morgan Porth who do a wicked Prawn Baguette.(Recommended by Mrs Quo.)
All in all a great area to have a holiday and a nice site to have it.
Oh, a must, is a visit to Port Issac where Doc Martin is filmed . It a beautiful Place. Then you can visit Tintagel and Boscastle on the same day out.

Loved it so much we're going back in august. Entertainment was brilliant. Bar prices very fair. A gorgeous beach minutes away accessed direct from the site. Good sized pitches. Our 13yr old daughter did not want to go to this site, she thought she'd be bored(we usually go to a much larger site)but she did not want to go home. A great indoor pool also. Nice shower block. Friendly staff.

We were a little reluctant to visit this site after reading previous reviews on this site within this website. BUT, we decided to go anyway as our friends booked on our behalf. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived, the pitch was great and although a little cramped was fine and plenty of room to park trailor and car next to tent. The toilets were clean, as were the showers. Its still 20p to use the shower but I found the temp and length of shower fine, as did the rest of the family. The playground was good, our kids loved the pirates ship in the middle. Best part of the site is the kids entertainment in early evening, the guy who runs it is fantastic and our kids loved it. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. Surrounding area superb, right next to a gorgeous sandy beach, only a five minute walk from site. Plenty of other beaches in the area. We unfortunately had to leave early because our daughter caught chicken pox whilst we were away, but the owners have sent us a credit note for the nights we didn't stay for which I think is great - not many sites do this. We will definitely be returning. So, to conclude - if you are looking for a child friendly site with lots to entertain the kids, and close to the beach then this would be a good choice for a site. If you are looking for peace and quiet then maybe don't consider this - at the end of the day, this is a commercial site setup for family entertainment - and that's exactly what they do! One thing to note, The site has changed hands recently so maybe that is why we found it a good site - i.E. Improvements have been made since the previous reviews on this website?

We were not impressed with this site at all, the entrance to the site gives you a good idea of what to expect. A telephone box with broken windows, a caravan with a door boarded up and that was just the entrance! The "receptionist" was very friendly, but did not seem to know what he was doing and allocated us to a pitch that was already occupied - not a problem we stayed no longer than 1 hour, after inspecting the toilets across "the moat"(wellingtons may be useful to get to the loo's). The showers are apparently shared by both sexes, we did not use them or inspect them to be fair. The site was level, some caravans looked respectable. There seemed a lot of people about too, so it is obviously a popular site, not for us, despite having paid for 4 nights in advance. We had a view of an old tractor, an ancient caravan and the rear of a clubhouse. May I respectfully suggest the owners take a look at the neighbouring site they could learn so much from them!

We have just returned from our holiday. It is a lovely setting with great beaches. Our children all loved the childrens entertainment in the evening, and the pool went down well also. The toilets and showers were very clean. 20p only lasts to give a very quick shower. However we felt the pitches were too cramped. We were almost on top of neighbouring tents and there was nowhere to play near the tent or kick a ball around.

Stayed with 2 children aged 4 and 6. Pitches too small and cramped and not enough space for kids to play and walk safely on the site. Not enough water points and agree with the last review that having to lift your waste water into a chemical toilet disposal point was not easy on the back. Always flooded around the shower block. Had to pay 20p for showers and you had to guess how much toilet roll you needed before your visit. Can get messy ! Entertainment OK in short doses if you don't mind your kids being subjected to abrupt, surly and at times rude entertainers. Its all worth it though as they sometimes win a curly wurly. Bar prices reasonable and service good. The most annoying aspect about the site was the poor access with daily blockages occuring on the narrow roads. Allow yourself extra time when nipping out for your relaxing drive to one of the many fine beaches which surround this site. Real shame that such a good location is not serviced by a better site.

Overall the pitches were good. Not enough water taps. Only drainage point at shower block, and to lift a waste water container up when full takes some doing. The food in the restaurant is awful I had turkey curry but it was more like left over turkey covered with a spicy gravy we did not eat in there again and when I spoke to other people they said the same.
The brochure says they do not like noise after 11pm but the weeks we were there there was a lot of noise plus crowds of teenagers wandering about. I put solar lights by my awning one of these was taken during the second week I did report it but no one came back to me about it.
The access to the site needs something doing to it also the way you are instructed to go could do with new and better signs once you get to st merryn there are no signs telling you way to the golf course

I was very disappointed with the staff. We arrived early and asked for a pitch near the toilets because we were staying in a folding camper and had no toilet. They were very unhelpful and unaccommodating. There is a charge for the showers of 20 pence which was just long enough for the water to start getting warm and then stop. There was also a charge for the swimming pool even though there was no changing rooms or showers. ( if you wanted a shower you had to go outside and round the block to the ones that you pay for ) not very good when you have a young family or like me and are embarassed to walk about in my swimming costume. I have been to better sites and paid a lot less.
