A nice quiet site, set alongside the Grand Union Canal, behind a gastro pub. Varying reviews on the food, but although we didn’t try it, it looked nice. Two other pubs, one half an hour ‘upstream’ and another twenty minutes downstream. They’re all quite similar in food and location. We did eat at the Two Boats, very nice.
The caravan site is adults only and in the week (August) it was very quiet and not crowded at the weekend. Two toilets and showers each coped OK, ‘waterfall’ heads on showers are very nice, warm and push button, with long outflow. Short curtains made the cubicles a bit wet around, but that’s a minor issue.
I didn’t care for the openness of the site, locals seem to use the site as a dog/pushchair stroll, fishermen using the on site pond and the neighbouring reservoir drove around the site at will, day and night. A local car club held a meet in the pub car park, a few of them using the caravan site for a ‘parade’.
No bus route, so settle for a walk, or the short drive to Leamington Spa, or Warwick.

Looking out over the fishing ponds in glorious weather whilst writing this review. Can't really add to what's been written before, but here are a few of our observations anyway. The site is peaceful mid week but gets full at weekends. The pitch's are large which means the caravan can be placed anyway you like (side on or end on). The men's toilets only have two cubicles so it may be hard to find a vacant one at busy times. The site is very relaxed regarding dogs, if well behaved they don't seem to mind them off the lead. There are plenty of walking areas in the vicinity all of which are close to the site. Didn't fish this trip but the fishing looks good. At the time of our visit the pub had a reduced menu due to staff shortages, but it was adequate. The two other pubs a short distance away on the canal also served good food and had lovely outdoor seating areas on the canal itself. Would highly recommend this site, one of the best we've been to and we will certainly be returning soon.

Have been on the rally field here a couple of times before, 1st time on the actual Caravan Park. All I can say is WOW, what a great little park. Grass is short with all the clippings picked up, spotless little shower block, fishing on site (Small extra charge) and just a couple of steps to the Pub. Nearby Southam has a Tesco & local shops, while Leamington Spa is about 20mins away, with all the big shops you need.
Pub food at the Blue Lias is great (Best to book a table), with a good selection of beers & wines. It really is great to sit in the beer garden on a summers day & watch the boats go by. One of the best sites in the Midlands.
Please note its adults only.

Back again for another visit to the Beer Festival in Long Itchington.
The site is great with a very 'can-do' approach. They were surprised when we turned up in a 8m 6 tonne RV (although I did tell them when I booked it) but were able to get us on a flat hardstand near the gate. Really helpful as the weather had been pretty rubbish and it was very wet under foot. The RV would have sunk to its axles otherwise!
Facilities remain ideal for what we want. Will definitely return.

I can only describe this lovely site as a fishing caravanners paradise, with three types of fishing right on site for you to enjoy. There's a reservoir a pond and the canal all on your doorstep. The caravan site is behind the pub and is nicely laid out, it has got a nice clean toilet and shower block that is kept spotlessly clean but I found it really cold when showering, the pub is a little bit expensive but very nice food and real ales. The walk along the canal (both ways )is nice and both ways takes you to lovely pubs again with real ales and nice food. Will definitely be re visiting this site.

My wife and I stayed at The Blue Lias for a long weekend (Friday to Monday) and thought the site was lovely and well located on the banks of the canal. The pub looked lovely and seemed to be popular, although we didn't use it.
The facilities look newly refurbished and the showers were very good, the facilities block could do with some heating, as the weekend we were there it was quite cold.
We would have preferred a pot wash area too, although it does look like the owners are still completing the upgrade. All the pitches are predominantly grassed, I could see this being an issue if there was heavy rain fall, so some hard standing pitches could make this better.
Overall this is a pleasant site, which is well maintained and the facilities were kept clean and well serviced.

Lovely site and facilities, excellent for canal walking. We were a little disappointed that although dogs are allowed on the caravan site, they are not allowed in the pub. As previously mentioned the Two Boats pub which is nice stroll down the canal was lovely, and very dog friendly.
Great site to use as a base for exploring Warwickshire, just felt the site could have offered some 'Tourist Information' by way of the two empty notice boards in the Toilet/shower block, there was a bit of Tourist Info in the pub but this was only available during the opening hours of the pub.

What more can I say that hasn't already been said before by other guests at this fantastic site. We have just returned from a lovely week-end break, an added bonus the weather was wonderful!
We had really nice meals from the pub well presented and served by friendly polite staff, and didn't have to wait long considering how busy they were. My husband loved the beer too! The views from the pub garden up and down the canal are amazing and always something going on, even down to the geese cutting capers! Wonderful entertainment!
The site itself was just perfect, one that is obviously loved by all! So nicely laid out, how nice it was to wake to the beautiful views over the lakes with abundant wildlife perfectly relaxed with us all. This was our first visit, as we don't live far away we will certainly make it a regular w/e break, we have never felt so chilled. We have been caravanning for many years and can honestly say this is the nicest site we have been to.
I won't make a negative comment about the goose poo it wasn't an issue just there! part of the wild life! Will be going back again and again if we may of course. Our congratulations to the owners for such a lovely site.

Had a 6 day break here end of July beginning of August, £20 night including electric/awning, behind a very pretty looking pub on the canal-side and a plus for the school holidays, it's adults only :)
we were shown to our lovely pitch (11)right by the canal-side by the landlord who was helpful and friendly, he left us to get on with setting up fairly quickly.
We only ate once in the pub as we found it too dark and dingy and the food not fantastic, we used 'The 2 Boats' pub further along the canal towards Long Itchington a few times for a drink and lunch, this was much nicer/brighter and had a band on for the Saturday night.
The facilities are good at site, 2 showers with huge shower heads gave the best shower we have ever had at a site, 3 toilets. This is also where the usual water/rubbish/toilet facilities for caravans are found outside.
The campsite is very large with a central fishing lake, very well landscaped/pretty mature gardens, no tents or children was lovely and quiet the whole stay and although it got busier on the Friday for the weekend it was the wedding in the pubs function room that made the most noise all weekend (music till midnight)
As we're keen runners/cyclists and had our inflatable kayak with us we used the canal and towpath a lot, nice and flat other than the flights of locks. Good to watch the barges going through the flights.
Take care with the bridges around here when towing, they're only single width with no traffic lights and look like a potential accident in the waiting.
The biggest negative point about this site and probably more so for us, as we were positioned right by the water side, was the torrent of Geese mess everywhere and I mean literally everywhere, we did however enjoy watching the barges go by from the window whilst eating breakfast.
We would use the site again without hesitation but unless the pub has a major refurbish inside would go elsewhere for food/drink.

What a lovely site. The pitches are nice and big with loads of space in front of you. The toilets and showers are modern and clean, great walks either around the fishing lake or either way on the canal and a fantastic pub in a very pretty setting doing lovely food at good prices. Cant wait to visit again
