We spent a great weekend on site with 14 scouts and 7 leaders, toilets were great as were the showers with plenty of hot water so I was told by one scout. This was the first time our group had used a public site, so I'd like to thank the wardens for all their help making this a great weekend.I'm sure we'll use this site again.

We loved this site. Stayed here for 3 nights with our two young children. Like other reviewers we were surprised at how rural the site is but only about 15 miles from Birmingham. The shop is a bit disappointing - we didn't see anything in there of interest to us and there was no information on show of things to do and see locally. We walked one night to The Sun which was brilliant. About 15 - 20 mins walk going at the pace of our 3 year old but a lovely, family friendly pub with good food. The playground on site is spartan but there is a large playground in the village about 10 mins walk from site. We had a great full day out at the Black Country Living Museum. Did Cadbury World too - bit disappointed with that but think my expectations were too high. Would def visit Clent Hills again.

We've just come back from a four night stay at Clent Hills what a great campsite! Lovely surroundings and the staff really friendly and helpful. The toilets and showers were perfect. There are two pubs within a two minute drive away, The Sun and The Swallows Nest, we ate at the Swallows nest and it was really nice. We will be making Clent Hills a regular to place to stay.

We arrived at Clent Hills and were pleasantly surprised to see that it was very rural even though it was close to Birmingham and the Black Country.
Its a beautiful hillside site with immaculate grass, toilets and play area. Nothing else - which is just how we like it.
Although we arrived late (8.15pm) we were given a warm welcome and shown to our pitch. The place was full, but our pitch had been reserved next to the MILs pitch and was an excellent size, if a little slopey. Due to the size we did manage to find a flat spot, but we noticed in a lot of other places on the site we would have been sleeping at quite an angle. Most of the units were caravans though so presumably they cope better with slopes.
The play area was tiny, but well used and the weekend we were there the majority of kids were between 5 and 10 and they quickly made friends. For us it was ideal, for those pitched right next to it, it was very noisy for most of the day, and one camper said they had to go out at 10.30pm and get the teenagers to quiet down.
As the site was full there was a 'no ball games' rule in force, but luckily for us it wasn't being too strictly enforced and our pitch was big enough for son to kick a ball between our tent and MILs campervan without annoying anyone else. There really wasn't anywhere else on the site to kick a ball.
The toilets were indeed very clean and you can see why they might be 'award winning' - but there are only 3 showers in the ladies and on Saturday morning there was a queue of 4 people waiting. Sunday morning was a queue of 2. This is the first time I have had to queue anywhere for showers so maybe I have just been lucky, but I thought there weren't enough given the size of the site and how busy it was. One more would have made all the difference. Hubby had to queue on Sunday morning to use a toilet - first time he's had that as well.
Apparently there is another toilet and shower at reception for when the main toilets are being cleaned - we didn't use those though as we were weren't around by the time they were closed.
We were surprised that you couldn't buy or order a newspaper.
Another camper told me they had expected to be able to freeze their iceblocks, but that they were told that they no longer do that - they only sell frozen ones.
We wondered what it would be like in the rain as we were at the bottom of a slope, but for us on a nice sunny weekend it was a lovely site and we would definitely return. Its close to Black Country Museum (nice 1/2 day out, but not as good as we thought it would be), Cadbury World and also to Merry Hill where there is a Decathlon.

A very pleasant site, immaculate toilet blocks as well as grounds. Very friendly, helpful staff. We were part of a micro car rally who had got together for our AGM. The staff were very accomodating and helpful making sure our weekend went as smoothly as possible. There are shops/pubs/gararges etc within a few minutes drive and plenty of beautiful places to walk.
Definitely recommended.

We were extremely pleased with this site during our weekend stay. The site was full but certainly didn't seem overcrowded and was very peaceful. We didn't have any queues for showers and the toilet blocks were very clean. Small play area seemed to keep children happy. Excellent walks around Clent Hills which are definitely recommended and maps from site shop are available. Would highly recommend The Swallows Nest pub in Romsley. Overall well worth a stay at this site and look forward to returning soon.

Our first camping trip of the season, and it got off to a great start. Due to a nasty virus, I had to leave my OH at home, so set out with my 2 children 6 and 10, to meet some friends at this site. The site was quiet with no other tents and perhaps a dozen caravans / motorhomes. The ground was very wet and muddy, but the warden allowed us to wander around the site to choose the best pitch for us. We were told we could have as much space as we wanted because they were quiet. I set about pitching my Indiana 8 with just the help of my 10 year old son. No easy task, but before long the warden came back to see how we were doing and helped us to finish pitching and pegging out the tent. The showers etc were immaculate despite the muddy site and hot water was in plentiful supply. A great information center and really helpful and friendly staff. The site is very quiet and has lovely views. There are lots of great walks from the site and you can buy photo copied maps from the office for about 30p. This is well worth doing. My kids loved taking it in turns to be map reader. Lots of things to do in the area as well. Black Country Living Museum really worth a visit. Birmingham is not far away. My only criticism is the sign posting on the lane leading to the site. We watched a lot of caravans being towed past the site because of lack of proper signs, so care is needed. A great site in a great location with really lovely staff.

The welcoming and helpful staff booked us in, even though we gave them little notice, for the late August Bank Holiday weekend. The campsite was almost full - but not cramped at this busy time of year. Facilities were very good with a squeaky clean, modern shower / toilet block and washing-up area, plenty of hot water, and small playground for the kiddies. There is an additional toilet / shower block near to the office for when the main one is closed for cleaning. Many of the pitches have electric hook ups and some of the pitches are screened by high hedges - in fact the whole of the site is sheltered by high hedges and trees. There are some areas which slope, but pieces of wood are provided if chocks are needed.
The campsite is dog-friendly but dogs have to be exercised in the surrounding country lanes and there is no safe area nearby where they can be let off the lead.
We didn't realize that the hard working staff had also arranged all sorts of fund-raising activities for the weekend (because of the campsite's 70th anniversary) and the festival of lights, sports events, cake-stalls, auctions and book sale etc etc were an added bonus which was enjoyed by all and added to the already friendly atmosphere.
There are shops and a pub serving food in the nearby village of Romsley, but they are a good 15-20 minutes walk in hilly countryside. Otherwise, Romsley is just a short car journey away.
The campsite and facilities, surrounded by some stunning scenery, are well maintained, the staff helpful and friendly. I'm sure we'll be returning as often as possible in the future.

A beautiful picturesque site over looking the Clent Hills in the Black Country just West of Birmingham. The site entrance is clearly signposted and is down a quarter mile single track lane (there is a place to pass midway). We had a warm welcome and were shown to our pitch which had EHU (in fact the vast majority of the site had access to EHU – which I think is good these days, of battery powered video, cameras, mobile phones, fridges etc). The site had an equal mix of caravans and tents when we were there, with I would say 1/3 being hard standing pitches. When I booked the site directly, I did say that I had a large 8 meter tent (Khyam Ridgi pod with 3 bedroom pods. In the Khyam catalogue the footprint plan (with all bedroom pods fitted) is shown as being 8.7m x 8.4 m) The lady said that would be fine. However, when we put the Ridgi-pod up the Manager claimed we were putting up a “marquee” and using a scientific measuring system of pacing out the tent by striding on foot, claimed it was a 10 meters and she was going to update the C&CC computers so that if we going to any C&CC site they will automatically book us a pitch and a half. It was a beautiful sunny day and I wasn’t going to argue… but will argue the point with the C&CC club about the dimensions of a Ridgipod. The campsite office sold a few very basic provisions such as milk, eggs, etc and it had a beautifully laid out Information centre room where you could go in and browse all the local attraction leaflets. There is just one loo/shower/baby changing/washing up block. So, if you are bursting to go to the loo and they are closed for cleaning, there isn’t another block to use – you will just have to jiggle up and down till they have finished. The block was spotlessly clean and well thought out with attention to detail, such as space around each basin to lay out wash bags (surprising amount of sites have basins crammed on top of each other so no space to put towels, wash bags etc). Lots of hooks to hang towels and wash bags on around basin area, and in shower cubicles. Water was hot and pretty instant, and was not on a timer so that it kept turning off. The site had a small simple playground area consisting of a couple of swings and a slide. No clubhouse, or any other amenities, and frankly that was what I liked about Clent Hills, a lovely quite campsite, with a beautiful view of Clent Hills and within short distance of Cadburys World, Black Country Museum, Shugborough etc. Some of which we went to see during out stay. I heartily recommend this site.

Just returned home yesterday after a very wet Saturday and (not so wet) Sunday. The staff were very helpful and friendly. This is a small site, which we prefer, yet the pitches are spacious, we had a sun canopy (not that there was any!) and a pup tent on our pitch. There is a small park, but enough room for the children to run around. Two things go against this site for us: they close the showers at 10.30 until 12. for cleaning which seems crazy to us. We like to have a relaxed morning, cook a good breakfast then have a leisurely shower, which maybe around 11. Not everybody is up at the crack of dawn! Why not close them at 2 when most campers are out for the afternoon.
Our other little comment would be that this weekend it was cold! really cold and yet the heating in the toilet block was on a minimum, waste of time if you ask me.
