The area wasn't great, mostly surrounded by derelict buildings.

The main camp facilities were good, what looked like a new/recently refurbished pool, bar and club. Nice looking cafe although we didn't try the food. Small site shop. Located next to a small beach, which while we were there was used predominantly be fishermen

The toilet/shower block was modern, but only cleaned in the morning. Toilets became fairly unsavoury as the day progressed. Showers rarely had hot or even warm water. Also, strangely, they both had a security code, which was somewhat inconvenient if you got it wrong or forgot it.

Washing Up facilities were basic, only warm water and no sink plugs or drainers.

Tent pitches were horrible, full of lumps bumps and holes. Centre of tent pitch area was flooded and water was fairly stagnant so had obviously been there a while, not great with young children.

Lots of rubbish laying around the field, although it was very windy so that may be why.

There was no sign of security and no control of campers behaviour.

I stayed at this site a few times last year, and have always enjoyed the entertainment and pool facilities, plus it's close proximity to the beach. I recently visited for the first time this year and was pleasantly surprised at the new shower block, it's clear that the owners have taken note of some of the comments and have made an effort to improve the facilities.

I was also impressed with the standard of food available, a great improvement on last year - try the £1.99 breakfast! I have to agree with some of the previous reviews about Jaywick itself, it's not the nicest place but the park is getting better all the time and I will definitely revisit the site again, hopefully in better weather.

The facilities were cleaned once a day, but as another reviewer said, people not looking after their children tends to muck that up, so if you need to shower do it first thing in the morning as by evening they were minging to be honest. There was not enough toilet roll either, and only 2 washing up sinks.

The pitch was brilliant, we were directed to tent area and told to pitch where we wanted. It wasn't busy so we could be near the toilet/shower block. It was fairly even.

The entertainment place is expensive although the actual price to stay there was only 18.00 for two nights. The tiny indoor/outdoor pools are brand new and one of the cleanest I have been to. However, it can only take so many people and you may have to wait to use it.

My biggest and hugest gripe is that Park Resorts have decided to allow dogs on there this season. One staffy came right up to our baby in her buggy and frightened the life out of me. At the end of it's lead was a tiny girl aged about 6 who was being pulled around by the dog! I feel strongly enough about this to write and complain to PR.

The entertainment for the children is typical twenty somethings doing songs & dances and the children love it. There are dressed up characters as well.

I really wanted to say that I loved this site as the pitch was so nice but I am afraid the dog incidents ruined it for me.

Arriving at this site after driving through a depressing and extremely run down part of Clacton we were checked in and told 'to find somewhere' to pitch up. The site was packed out and we only found a pitch after driving around twice. No hard standing appeared to be available.

Although electric hook-ups were available ours had been taken by someone else who refused to remove their plug, this was rectified a short while later.

My opinion of this site being now somewhat jaded was further reduced on inspecting the toilet and shower facilities. Although they looked good from the outside it quickly became apparent they were suffering from 'commercial site-itis' This condition, only found on commercial sites is the net result of unsupervised and unruly youths who loiter around these facilities, blocking the toilets with loo rolls and throw soggy bits of toilet paper around. Why is it that this is allowed to happen when we all have to use these facilities? Parents who refuse to supervise their children should be thrown off the site.

My spirits were bolstered a little when seeing the club house. This was quite new and looked good. The evening entertainment was an excellent live band, however my experience was once again jaded by the clientele with their refusal to supervise their children running amok and the over-powering fug of cigarette smoke which made my eyes water.

Day 2 on the site and we decided to visit Clacton - then came back! Enough said there I think.

We decided to try the beach walk, after dodging teenagers on skateboards, mini-motorbikes and stunt bikes the walk was quite pleasant. We stumbled across an old coastguard station where wonder of wonders, there was an art exhibition. If ever a place needed culture this was it! This was a jewel in a vacuum.

I'm sure this site would appeal to some people but I couldn't get away from it fast enough - there is no way I would go for a return visit.

Have just come back from two days at this site.  Have to say the toilets and showers were very basic but they were cleaned but due to people not looking after there children they didnt stay clean long, wouldnt like to be there in the peak season as I dont know how you would all get on with washing up  as there are only 2 sinks.  Pool was nice but a bit small and shop was rather expensive. I agree with a previous report about having to go through a shanty town to get there that was a bit of an eye opener but it made the kids laugh. I wouldnt go back again as it just wasnt for us but for a 1st time trip and somewhere near home it would be ok if you go outside of peak season.

I have stayed at this site several times over the years and the main attraction to me is the location. It is situated only 50 or so yds from the beach! Walton & Clacton are just a short drive away. Like other peoples reviews of this site I have to agree that the toilet facilities do still leave a lot to be desired. The showers had hot water all the time so not to bad. That said, it is down to the people who use these facilities to use them hygienically. Toilets that get blocked are usually down to kids mucking about sticking all the loo paper down them! This year there is a new indoor outdoor swiming pool but I have seen bigger paddling pools than the outside part of this new pool facilitie! Why they had to do away with the old outdoor pool I dont know! On the plus side of things, the staff were helpful and friendly and the pitches were clearly marked with quite sizeable pitches! The supermarket is basic & overpriced but Tesco's is only a 5 minute drive away. The club house has a plenty of entertainment that caters for all taste. My bigest gripe is the price they charge for soft drinks. £1.75 to £2 for most of them. If you have 3 or 4 kids it could work out a very dear nite at these prices! Also, considering the amount of children that frequent the club to see Sparky & Narky etc i'm surprised there isnt a designated no smoking area! some nites it was like a fog in there ! Despite all my grieviences with the site though, I will use it again ,it's not all that bad and it is handy for the beach, it could be a lot better though.

Nice site with good club and amusements with nice sandy beach in spiting distance. The toilets are a bit cramped for such a large camp and not always clean. The washing-up facilities are one sink with no plug outside the toilet block. Site shop that sells a few bits like milk, bread, bacon and eggs and stuff, handy if you run out of anything. One water supply near toilets and bins so could do with a few more water points. The campers were friendly and chatted as were the staff. Little town (Clacton) to visit with a take away and chipie and couple of pubs but not much to see and St. Osyth the other way with a few nice pubs and a club. Grass only is available with no hard standing pitches. A good size field with a good fenced off park for the kids and swimming pool. No dogs are allowed on site. We cant pitch our tent here no more because they have smaller pitches of 6 square meters now and our 10 man tent is 24 feet long so we can not visit this site again. I don’t think we will be returning to this site as 2 tent pitches would be too expensive for us and our 4 kids.

They have spent lots of money on a new facilities, including a new pool complex, but still have the same awful toilet facilities for the touring/camping site. The toilets and showers were never clean - and I too only saw toilet paper once (apart from when it was filling one of the toilets up and blocking it)! One toilet cubicle had three locks on it - and none of them worked. Having said that they couldn't even keep the toilets in the new entertainment complex clean - when I went in there, two of the sinks were full of toilet paper and mud (at least I hope it was mud!).

We were allocated to a numbered pitch on arrival - but the security guard who checked us in was unable to tell us where the pitch was since the map did not have the numbers on! We eventually found the pitch (it was dark!), but someone was already on it. There was no one making sure that people pitched in the right place, so people were everywhere - I'm sure that the site was contravening fire regulations in how close together some of the vans were.

They had no facilities for motorhomes to dump waste water - they did say that if we gave them half an hours notice, they would get maintenance to lift a man hole cover for us! Also, there were no taps accessible for motorhomes to top up with water without again asking at reception.

Also, the power did go off for a couple of hours one evening.

And, if you want milk, beware - they sell out at the shop, and the milk does not come first thing in the morning, so you end up with no milk for breakfast.

Having said all of that, the staff that we saw (didn't see any cleaners!) were generally friendly and helpful - one of the lifeguards was particularly good with the kids in the pool (eg making sure that the older kids did not go in the toddler area, and generally keeping an eye on them).

Site good, once you get over the initial shock of driving through what can only be described as a shanty town! Entertainment good if a little repetitive, shop ok but didn't stock any camping items. Few toilets on site which the cleaner had a job keeping clean due to other users abusing them, showers very poor - water stays on for 3 seconds - very difficult to have a decent shower. Staff nice and friendly, drinks reasonable. Jaywick itself if tatty and not looked after, it is very overgrown, lots of flytipped rubbish and burnt out houses. Someone on the site reported a rat in their tent - not surprising given the general state of the village. Clacton was disappointing - a bit like a poor Blackpool! Will not go to this site again.

We visited this site for the first time for a long weekend arriving Friday evening 25/08/2006.
First impressions on arriving looked good. Our pitch was some distance away from the facilities but did not cause too much of a problem, the facilities I am afraid did cause us a problem, with 100 pitches average 3 people per pitch that's 300 people sharing 5 toilets, 5 showers, 4 sinks for men and the same for women, not enough for the size of the camp, these facilities were not kept clean and when the cleaner did turn up it was I the middle of the busiest time of the morning. Control by security was poor there was music being played until 03.00 in the morning which kept us up Friday and Saturday night. Showers and toilets did have a punch in code on both but was pointless as both did not work. On a positive note the club house was good, shop had most things that were needed (could have opened a bit earlier) did not open until 08.00am. Looking at it overall I dont think I would go back to this site again unless more shower and toilet facilities were added.
