This was a last minute booking as we had left it late and could not get in any where else. It is a very basic site and we did not like it. Not because it is basic but because it is not cared for. At £20 a night for EHU the price is the same as most of the others in the area. However, our grass pitch was overgrown and the electric was constantly tripping out. This was not just us being greedy, the people next to us had the same problem. The ground was poor draining, the paths needed relaying and the toilet facilities were like some thing from the 1950's - (although they were quite clean on the porcelain parts). There were no other facilities at all. What was nice however, was the proximity to the dairy cattle.

I am sorry but I would not use this site again.

Wanted to update last review. Made a return visit to Pomeroy as planned and this time used the showers. Glad to say the water was lovely and hot and despite the toilets needing updating, the owners informed me this is in the planning stage now. Point to note, being female and having long hair, you have to pay for the showers. You will need 60p to have a proper shower and hair wash, otherwise its 40p for the dear husbands shower. Clean clean clean and despite it being a tad chilly in there, I was toasty by the time I came out.

All in all, lovely, uncluttered site, adequate showers with lovely hot water but take your 60p!

We will be visiting again.

Stayed on this quiet site to try out our 5 berth touring caravan for the very first time. Chose the weekend that had a snow blizzard, van kept us snug though.

Toilet block adequate, its a get away from it all site and the showers weren't used by us and so we couldn't comment on them. They looked more than enough for campers though, as you wouldn't choose this site if you didn't want to escape the city and chill out.

We took two 7 year olds with us, and although there wasn't anything on site for them, we took balls and they really enjoyed the deep snow, but you do have to entertain them yourself!

The family that run it were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The young man who we dealt with even sited and towed out caravans that had difficulty. All in all a very relaxing stay and we have booked to go back next month for another rest and chill-ax in pomeroy.

Lovely quiet campsite. The facilities are fairly basic but more than adequate for our needs which fits inline with the cost of pitching.

There's not much in the way of activities for children but I was always happy with a large field to run round with and some sticks!

The Peak Trail runs along the bottom of the campsite which is popular with walkers and cyclists alike.

There's a nice pub within a 5 minute walk down the road or a really nice one (Royal Oak) a mile or two down the Peak Trail.

I'd certainly return.

We stayed here recently for 3 nights with a group of friends (6 tents in total).

Cons: Facilities are very basic, ie the hairdryer in the ladies needs old style 10p's and you have to totally get out of the shower area to put another 20p in, also the wash up area wasn't totally covered so in bad weather as we had its not very pleasant. Unfortunately, the toilets could have benefited with more frequent cleaning.

On a more positive note, we were given a warm welcome, and the pitches were spacious and flat. A lovely pub is only a quick stroll away, and Buxton a short drive.

All in all - a friendly basic site if your wanting to get away from it all for a few days.

Spent a couple of nights at this site using camping vouchers from the Sun Newspaper, and took advantage of the great weather too!

We stayed on the EHU field, the pitches are flat, grassed and the site in general appears well maintained.

The shower/toilet facilities, although functional, were very dated and visually not very appealing. That said, it was apparent that the area was cleaned but its dated appearance made it look worse than it actually was.

Besides that, the site is lovely and peaceful, with great walks along the High Peak Trail and Buxton a short car journey away for provisions.

Dog friendly, and no extra charges for the dogs either!

We would definitely return to the site using the camping vouchers, its a great central location for exploring the Peak District.

We just spent a few days at this site owing to the fantastic spell of hot weather at the end of September we just decided on the spur of the moment to go away,

It is situated in a beautiful part of Britain, the peak district, we had never been here before, either the site or to Derbyshire but we are looking forward to going back again next year.

Set on a working farm right on the high peak trail its location is central to many local towns and villages, Buxton, Chichester, Bakewell etc. And 3 pubs!

The site is owned and run by a lovely, sweet old lady and her family. The site is clean and tidy with short grass and paved road on the caravan field, this is where you pitch a tent if you require hookup.

The high peak trail is at the bottom of the tents field over the wall and down the embankment. The shower block although basic houses toilet and wash basins as well as 2 showers per side, possibly being revamped this winter, also outside is the washing up area with lots of space for your dirty plates and wine glasses!

If you want a back to basics, get away from the strife of modern life, cycle, hike or just relax this is the site for you, if you want entertainment and children's clubs, it isn't.

All in all we enjoyed our stay very much, we are sure you will too.

Just stayed 2 nights at Pomeroy Camping Park. Was met by the lovely lady who gave instructions on where we could pitch our large tent. The site is small but pitches large and very pleasant.

We had EHU those who do not can also camp in the next field where the views are much better.

As previous reviews the toilet and shower blocks could do with updating, the notice in the Ladies is dated 1980! They were not particularly clean either with debris on the floor the whole time we were there.

Whilst someone must have been and attended as the toilet paper was replenished we did not see anyone attending the site throughout our stay. The bin for general waste was overflowing when we left on Saturday as well as the bin next to the washing up area.

Having said all this the site is on a working farm and they were very busy in the fields as the weather was fabulous so suspect they were making the most of the good weather on the farm rather than the camp site.

Location is great for exploring both Buxton and Bakewell although it is on the A515 and there is some road noise although the road cannot be seen from the site and it did not disturb us.

We came with teenagers but I would say the site is very safe for younger children and those that were on site seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Not sure if we would return will try others in the area first.

Spent 4 nights at the Pomeroy in April. Our first, but definitely not the last time! We have already booked to go back end of May. We have a large tent, and was put on a great pitch which got the blazing sun from the moment it came up, to when it went down. Very friendly Lady and Chap who showed us to our pitch. Around 5 toilets and 2 showers in the ladies, I think same in the mens - basic, could do with an upgrade but adequate. Showers cost 20p, for long hot shower. Laundry room, which we didn't actually use. Washing facilities. Lovely views, just beautiful, very peaceful too. Working farm so expect some noise from the cows, this didn't bother us in the slightest though! 10 minute walk to the nearest pub, another 10 minutes walk to another pub! Short drive into either Buxton or Bakewell for the day.

Absolutely loved this site. No shop or kids play park, so not too much for kids to do, but they made their own fun.

The only gripe I had was when we booked we gave the dates, which included Bank Holiday, and were quoted a price. When we got there we were told because it was Bank holiday it would be 6 pound more a night! having said that, like I say we have booked again anyway!

We stayed on this nice little 'get away from it all' site last week for three nights. On arrival we thought we had stepped back in time and wondered what we had let ourselves in for, however we were greeted at the farmhouse by a lovely friendly old lady who told us we could pitch wherever we liked.

We chose to pitch our large tent in the top field to enable us to have EHU and at £15 a night (all in) found this to be pretty reasonable.

There's a toilet/shower block which is a little dated and could perhaps do with a bit of a spruce up, in both the ladies and gents there are four toilets and two coin operated showers (20p for lashings of hot water)

There is also a coin operated hairdryer although we didn't use it. The outside washing up area also had plenty of hot water. During the time we were there we never encountered any problems queuing for either the loo's, showers or washing up facilities even though there were a few other campers and some D of E youths on site.

Ok, there's a bit of road noise from the A515, but there's not a lot the owners can do about that and being on this road gives easy access to both Buxton and Bakewell.

All in all we found this charming little site value for money and if your looking for a no frills getaway it's one to visit, we would definitely consider staying there again.
