We arrived on the Friday of the Bank Holiday weekend and was welcomed by a very pleasant lady and was taken to our pitch by her son who was mowing the camping area. We were part of three units. Two tents and one caravan. Two with electric hook ups and one without. The owners still managed to put us together. Which was nice. Although the site maybe considered basic we all found it very much to our liking. Small, friendly and well maintained. We had come to relax and chill out and Pomeroy is ideal for that.
The weather turned out to be very unpleasent most of the weekend but we were very sheltered from the elements by trees around the main area.
Toilets and showers were fine, clean and functional. However, you need to wait sometime for the hot water to come through, so be patient.
Although there were no children in our group there were a few on the site cycling around and playing. It is very safe for children away from the road and easy to keep an eye on them.
Good access to local places of interest and a nice walk along the Tissington Trail.
We were happy with the site, our stay was a pleasurable experience and it was what we were looking for. If you want a full on site with loads to do and not entertain yourself then this is not for you.

When we first arrived we wondered what we had let ourselves in for, my husband described it as the campsite that time forgot! However on booking in the lady was very friendly and offered us what ever pitch we wanted, (as there was only a couple of unoccupied caravans there), but advised that they had a large group of D of E arriving. We were relieved to see / hear them as we felt very isolated!
We picked this site as it has direct access to the high peak trail, (albeit you have to lift your bike over the sty and down some steep steps.Keeps my hubby fit!) We had a lovely bike ride covering 27 miles, which luckily tired out our boys, (aged 7 and 9), because there was not much to entertain them at the site being the only children there.
Being in a caravan we did not have to use the facilities but they looked clean enough. Overall probably would not go back as it does not really cater for children but if you want to get away from it all it might be perfect for you!

Our first time camping! Stayed for 2 nights, 22nd and 23rd May. Arrived at 7pm, friendly staff. Pitch was good, flat and had lovely views overlooking fields. Good access to Tissington trail, over stone wall at bottom of site. Facilities were basic but sufficient, all in all had a good weekend.

This site is in an idyllic location with the High Peak trail just over the wall of the tent field. What a shame the owners don't recognise what a little gem they have. The facilities were so bad that hardly anyone used them. The showers and toilets were absolutely filthy. Toilet seats in the gents were broken. The wood base that you step on to when getting out of the shower was rotten. Shower curtains were filthy and mouldy. Floors were black. However,if you have your own facilities then this is a pleasant site in a wonderfully secluded location.

Lovely location and good views from site . Met by a lovely lady very friendly and happy to chat . Site is quiet and mainly aimed at touring caravans with one field left for tents only . Toilet block a little dated but nothing to complain about . Good pub ten minute walk away and close to quite a few walks .
Would definitely stop again nice experience all round .

When we arrived and went to the stable door at the side of the farmhouse we were greeted by a lovely old lady who was very friendly and helpful.
The tent field is at the back of the site with a slope in the middle. No rules or markers for pitching which is great as long as everyone is sensible. We pitched our new 5-man tent and had plenty of room for the car, bike rack and windbreak.
The toilet and shower block is dated, but adequate. They weren't very busy because the majority of pitches are caravans.
Great Robinson's pub 10 mins walk away with decent value home made comfort food.
We wanted a site near to the Tissington trail and couldn't do better than this. On foot it's just through the wall at the bottom of the tent field; on yer bike and you have to go via the road (5 mins).
Will definitely stay again.

We have stayed at this site for the May half term for the last 3 years. Yes the facilities could use a little TLC, and a hook in the ladies shower would be wonderful, but we can forgive it anything because it just has an eccentric charm and a wonderfully peaceful position. The best thing is the access to the High Peak Trail - literally over the wall and you're on it, so if you're planning to cycle, you can spend days without ever using the car. The Royal Oak, 1 mile down the trail does lovely food and is very friendly.

Overall we enjoyed our stay was very quiet and had no problems. The owner was very pleasant and after we arrived we never saw her again we were left to enjoy our stay. There is a pub just round the corner that allows kids in but there is no footpath to get there, you have to walk down the road. The toilets are a bit dated but served their purpose. Very good value I thought £10 a night £2 electric 50p a night for kids and awning, although no playground for kids but plenty of room to ride a bike round.

Stayed here August Bank Holiday, popular site with caravans but not too many tents there. Nice little site in terms of size, quiet and friendly, but the facilities leave a lot to be desired, which is probably why its more popular with caravans. The toilet/shower block really does need a complete overhaul, very cold and unappealing, don't think it was cleaned over the weekend, my husband said the men's was quite smelly. Showers were hot but not very powerful, 20p needed. No shop on site, but not far to local towns for provisions. Really lovely area, handily close to Buxton, Bakewell etc. I don't think we'll be using the site again, but good for caravanner's who want a small and peaceful site.

This campsite is fine. When you first arrive to be quite fair it is a bit league of gentleman-ish, I was a little worried when we approached the farm house that we had made a terrible mistake. The place is terribly old fashioned and any kind of publicity for the place, flyers, key-rings etc are embarrassingly outdated but as the people who run it have done so for the last 300 years it kind of makes sense. It terms of facilities the toilets and showers are very very old, the hair dryer for example needs old 10p's available at the farm house should you dare. The showers are 20 for about 10 mins which is ok. There is no shop on site but there is a nice pub down the road which served lovely food and had a really nice atmosphere. The drive to buxton was not bad and buxton itself is lovely. The puppet festival was on when we were there so we enjoyed a few hours of drinking outside watching the puppet show. The tent field is the back field and it was nice and spacious we have a large wynnster satelite tent 6 man version and we had loads of room. It was quite quiet on site and the occoasional moo from the field next to it was a nice addition for us city dwellers. We are planning a return to the site next week as it was peaceful and the pub was lovely. It would be fantastic if the shower block was renovated and the farm house was redecorated. Call in home invaders.
