We stayed here for a long weekend at the end of august 2007. This time we decided after a summer of dodgy weather to leave our tent at home and go for a static. The facilities were OK and the caravan was very nice with a sea view (this was the cheapest option!). The indoor pool was warm but not open very much and with limited changing facilities. The shop was well stocked but a bit pricey, the next nearest shop was about 35 minutes walk away but there is a supermarket a short drive away. The outdoor children's play areas were very good and the indoor one was high quality but a bit small and within the arcade. Although the weather would have been fine for camping I'm very glad I didn't. The site seems geared up for static sale and hire with touring as an afterthought, The washing up facilities and shower block are nowhere near the touring field and were not clean when we went to have a look. This site provides a good base to visit local attractions such as Africa Alive and the award winning shngle beach. It is only a short drive to either Lowestoft or Great Yarmouth. I would happily return here in a hired static but not as a tourer.

Stayed for 3 nights, Friday - Sunday in August 2007. Got a booking at very short notice for a very sunny weekend. Quite pricey - £25 per night. We normally stay on small campsites with minimal facilities, and didn't use enough of the facilities to make the extra cost worthwhile, as we drove to Lowestoft for the lovely sandy beaches everyday (Kessingland beach is shingle). This is a Butlins type place with mainly static caravans and a couple of fields of pitches for touring caravans and tents. Other campers enjoyed the entertainment (tribute bands, Karaoke and Bingo) and cheap beer! Showers were limited, only 4 for ladies, which meant long queues at peak times. The toilets weren't cleaned frequently enough, although they were very clean when they had just been done. Beware of taps over the bigger wash basins at the door end of ladies toilets - the hot ones can be knocked on very easily and can scald you - not a good idea to bath toddlers in them. Shop is basic and very pricey, but there is a Morrisons a short distance along the A12 towards Lowestoft, better to stock up there if you plan on staying for long. They playground for toddlers doesn't really have a lot in it, although the one for older children looked exciting.

In all fairness weather had been awful. But the pitches were all very boggy. There is very bad drainage, the toilets and showers were barely adequate one toilet was broken so unusable, the others were in a smelly state. Showers were no better and not enough for a camping site of this size. We had quite a trek to the toilets and although well lit at night with children this was no fun.
However entertainment was ok. Food was slow to be served but tasted good
A good place to visit Lowestoft, Yarmouth and Africa Alive and Pleasure Wood Hills.

We booked two nights in advance for a one night stay at this site for Saturday 24th June 2006. I was told the arrival time for tourers was 12 noon, but we arrived just after 10am and were shown to our pitch. I had explained that I am disabled and needed to be near the toilets, however, the toilet block and other facilities (washing up etc) were not in either of the fields that were allocated to campers. It was at least 50 - 75 yards from our pitch which was the front field behind the statics, and even further for those in the back fields. We were put in the corner of the front field which initially we felt was great, however, we soon realised that it wasn't quite so great after all when we found that everyone from the back field had to walk past our pitch to get to the toilets and other site facilities. We could put up with it during the day and most people bid us a cheery 'hello', but at night when we were trying to sleep, we had everyone coming back talking really loudly as they walked past our motor home and awning. We had one adult and one child sleeping in the awning and both were woken up every time someone went past talking or laughing and joking - not funny! Even in the motor home we could hear it and I was very tempted to shout something at them but refrained. The ground was very dry and quite cracked in places, despite a bit of rain, and the stream behind our pitch was very stagnant. The other annoying thing about our pitch was that we were right at the back, and once a caravan was put infront of us, we became trapped. We had to wait for them to go out in their car on the Sunday morning before we could squeeze through the gap between their caravan and the electric post in order to get out. We had visions of having to get the warden to get someone to move to let us out, which would have annoyed us and them no doubt. I didn't use the shower or toilet facilities as they were too far away for me, but hubby and our friend used them and said they were adequate but had seen better. My daughters refused to use the ladies toilets as they said they were 'minging'. The girls enjoyed the indoor pool, which they said was nice and warm, but the outside pool was freezing and there were no water slides which were aparently advertised. The take away was a bit naff for choice, although the shop was well stocked. We had food from one of the take aways in the street outside the camp. That was really nice but you needed a car to get to it otherwise food would have been cold by the time you got back. The beach was ok, although nothing in the way of ice cream kiosks or somewehre to buy a bucket and spade, just a pebbly beach with nothing 'sea sidey' about it. Good for walks and dogs and spotting lots of wild flowers. I went to this park about 20 odd years ago and whilst the park hasn't changed that much, other than newer caravans obviously, the beach and seafront area has changed remarkably. I noticed it was a lot further to get to the sea than it was 20 years ago, and the beach was a lot more grassy than it used to be. The beach level appears to have dropped in front of the first row of caravans (I remember hopping down onto the beach off the grass bank, but this is now about a 10 - 15 ft drop), and the sea is much further away even at high tide. A good five minute walk for an able bodied person - 20 mins walk for me. After we moved off our pitch, we were allowed to park up in the car park (I had asked about staying on, even if we paid extra but they said they didn't do that but that we were welcome to use the car park which we done). At least up there we had a sea view and we stayed there until 4pm and the children continued to use the site facilities, ie the pool and the arcade. On the whole it was ok, but not one of the best parks I have been to. Marks 6/10
