I stayed here for 26/27th August as I was attending an event locally. I'd booked directly as I'd a number of queries and found the site owners very helpful, including their rough journey time guidelines (proved very accurate.
The welcome I received (by name) was good and as I was in a pop-up tent I was given the choice of a lochside pitch with glorious view or a restricted view (pitch where I like) behind a tall fence; I opted for the latter as the weather forecast was for rain and high winds - in the event a wise decision!
The site is on two different levels with a mixture of gravel hard-standing and grass pitches; there seemed to be quite of lot of EHU pitches. It is very open to the elements so worth taking extra guys and pegs for tents and awnings. The information sheet provided on arrival was comprehensive, although a site map would have been helpful.
The amenity block is at the top end of the site and was spotless. The block comprises the usual Ladies and Gents showers and loos; a family room and a disabled room (both requiring a key costing £5 which is returnable on handing back); laundry with a commercial washer and tumble dryer plus sink for handwashing (line drying available); a dish-washing area and a dog wash area.
Dogs must on a lead at all times on site (it is a working croft)but may be let off the lead on the lochside walk. The refuse bins are by the site entrance and recycling (not glass) bins are available.
Gas is available on site and there is a comprehensive visitor information room (also ask site owners) and a camper's shelter. The reception has a small shop which sells chicken and duck eggs from the croft, some basic provisions, postcards and limited camping odds and ends.
There is wi-fi on site if you want it, but mobile phone reception poor - only two bars on Vodafone and one on O2 - payphone on site near reception.
No playpark for kids that I could find and the animals can't be fed or petted; also the loch is tidal and very deep so children need to be supervised at all times.
Fish and chip van visits a couple of times a week (sadly cancelled the first night I was there). Bar meals available at Edinbane (approx 1 mile walk from site) and several other places if prepared to drive - Stein Inn off road to Dunvegan worth a visit (been in past). You can BBQ - not instant ones lying on grass though.
There's plenty of attractions within easy driving distance in north and central Skye with boat trips to see seals (Dunvegan, which also has a castle with rather gruesome dungeon and the fascinating Faerie Flag) and Portree (to see sea eagles - also visit the Aros centre in Portree for a lot of information on these birds).
The scenery at the Quirang is awesome - best views on the single track road across to Uig, ferry port for Harris and North Uist. I'd stay again for either an event or for 3/4 days touring but would bring a bigger tent if latter as I'd need to have cooking facilities.

We arrived late in the day with another family but the staff could not be more accommodating. We were given a good pitch with electric hook-up and plenty room for the children to run around. They were full of apologies that we did not have a good view of the loch but this really did not bother us at all and the view from the dishwashing room was beautiful!
The facilities were very clean and well kept. As others have pointed out it was a bit of a pain that the whole block was closed for two hours but the family toilet room was open.
There is no playground for children, it would have been nice if they had some swings even, but the children only mentioned it a couple of times, the walks around the loch and trips out exhausted them enough. I have marked the facilities down slightly because of the lack of any playground only, everything else was ideal.
There is a room to shelter in if the weather gets really bad but fortunately our tents held up against the Skye winds.
There is a small shop on site for essentials and Portree is only 20 mins away if you need anything else.
Finally, it is sited beside a loch on Skye so you WILL need midge repellent (the shop does sell this too!).

Arrived in the rain and had asked for a pitch near the water but these had all been taken up by earlier customers however the warden found us a nice little pitch with a bit of shelter one row back.
Site was very busy with lots of Dutch tourers but as there were plentiful toilets and showers that was no problem.
Shop is only open a short time in the morning and afternoon but the site is only 10/15 minute drive from portree where there is a large co-op and numerous eating places
Looked a bit better in the morning but we didn't really see it in its best light as the weather was atrocious

Owners David and Nicky were there to welcome us at 10. 45pm! We stayed in pod for 1st night which 'did the trick' after long journey from Bristol.
Pitched tent next day and thought site was 1st class. View from canvas living room was uninterrupted over sea loch where I watched a family of 7 herons for many a hour.
Facilities were well deserving of awards, the latest was 2010 and standards still up there with best. David chatted about where was best to visit for our requirements.
Dog walk well signposted with poop bags and bin on hand. Walk itself was easy and scenic dogs enjoyed swims foraging and exploring lovely stretch of loch side.

Absolutely top class facilities as you would expect from C&CC. Site on the side on the loch and best pitches over look the water – however nearly all pitches have a great view.
Toilets / showers appeared brand new and even though site fairly busy no queues. Chemical disposal but only for 'green toilet chemical'. Walk along the loch side from the campsite is just amazing and well worth staying for alone.
Pitches are slightly sloping so you need some levelling blocks.
Small shop on site selling basics – but not cheap. The site is part of a croft and also sells eggs etc from the croft and has pigs at the far end.
A top class site with all the facilities you expect from C&CC.
Only downside - the cleaning takes place for 2 hours each day on the facilities and this includes laundry etc - not sure why everything shuts down for so long as half the showers were locked from the inside so they didn't need to clean more than 50%.
Prices are way higher than anywhere else we paid £23 for the Sunday night before May Day Bank holiday - we thought too expensive.

We booked to stay on this site for 2 nights, but only stayed for one because the weather was so bad, the wind was so fierce our 22 ft motorhome was buffeted and shaken so much it was quite unpleasant. I know this is no reflection on the site, but reading other reviews I think this tends to happen due to the site's location. The site itself is immaculate and the shower block as clean and tidy as any caravan and camping club clubsite.
My main gripe about this site is the supposed dog walk - I booked direct with the site and was told I could run the dogs by the loch - sounded idyllic. However, the only access to the loch was via a stile, which was actually a narrow piece of wood shoved through a stock fence. The wood on the loch side of the fence was rotten, and the only way I could get my dogs over the fence was to pick them up and literally drop them down on the loch side. I have 3 little dogs so it was a bit of a challenge, also if you have larger dogs I don't see how you could possibly get to the loch. Also, they couldn't actually go on the shoreside as it is completely covered with a thick layer of seaweed so they had to stay on a narrow strip of extremely rough uneven ground. Also, I could not find a dog waste bin anywhere on site, so seeing as we are obliged to pick up after our dogs (which I think is perfectly reasonable) where are we supposed to put the bags?!
So what with the weather and the dog problems we gave up on this site after one night. I guess it's fine for non dog owners when the weather is nice (whenever that is, in north west Scotland!)
Owner's response: The 3/4 mile dog walk is accessed via a galvanised pedestrian gate, clearly signposted from the Camping Pod Field. Dogs are allowed to run freely once they are on the walk and we do provide gloved bags and a dog waste bin at the start of the walk. Skye site is so dog friendly we even have a dog wash. These details are on the information sheet issued to every customer on arrival on site and pictures of the walk appear on www.skyecamp.com and on the 360 degree tour on the Club's own website.

The owners and wardens at this site are fantastic. We received the best welcome we have ever had when visiting a camp site. Our 2 boys received stickers etc which was great after a long drive.
Be warned - it is further than you might think from the Skye bridge! It took us over an hour to reach the site. Some of the roads have some big potholes which are impossible to avoid if there is traffic coming the other way. We sustained some damage to our caravan which we assume is pothole damage.
Aside from this, the site is great. We spent Easter here and there were very few tents so our boys could use the field for playing ball games. The site has access to the shore of the loch and several farm animals for the children to see.
The facilities were fantastic. Brand new and immaculate. The washing machine is large so you can get a good load in for £3.50. The drier is £1 a go. There is a clothes line for campers to use which is great as the site is very windy! We experienced 2 nights where the caravan was rocking from side to side. Our awning was ok but there were others that were not so lucky. The warden said that it was a medium gale. We would not like to be there during a full scale one!
A fish and chip van calls several times a week. The fish was lovely. A fresh fish van also calls one morning a week. It was a Tuesday when we were there. There is a large co op in the nearest town, Portree, which is about 20 minutes away.
We visited Dunvegan Castle - the seal boat trip from here is fantastic. We also visited Skye skins - a tannery and shop which was great value. We have a lovely sheepskin rug as a souvenir of our stay here. We went on several car drives around the coastline which is beautiful. Follow the road past Dunvegan Castle and you come to a beautiful sandy beach. Be warned though - it is a long walk from the car park. Make sure you take everything you need with you!
We had a fantastic stay here and would recommend it. However, if you are putting up an awning make sure you have storm straps and peg down all available points. We did and our awning survived the experience!

A wonderful site with excellent facilities, every thing so clean and well organised. Can be very windy especially on the side of the loch, if you intend using an awning ask to be further back. All pitches can see Loch.
Owners and site assistants are a mine of useful information and will advise you of best places to visit, don't miss Staffin, or the road from there to Uig,
Some very good boat trips to see the eagles but these can be seen from the road to Staffin or even over the site. We saw 32 species of bird from the site.
We will return next year. The site is worth the long drive from the Skye bridge.

Decided to stay at this site after a bit of research, firstly because it was central for the walks we had planned, and only 10 miles from Portree. We pitched our tent close to the loch with fantastic views over looking the Loch, after tiring walking each day we wanted a quite site, so that we could sleep without noisy disturbances, which was great.
The toilet and showers were excellent, very clean and newish, there was a small shop on site for the basics, a telephone, as my mobile signal was non existent.
If I was to be a little picky, the site was so good that I expected to see washing m/cs and dryers, which would have been handy for us walkers to wash and dry our clothes. The midges weren't too bad, and those who rely on skin so soft, let me tell you of a new product called smidge, it works a lot better.
Comment from site owner: Regarding washing machines and tumble dryers, we have one commercial one each of these, plus two sinks for hand washing. A clothes line is also provided and we sell washing powder. This is all contained in the facilities block.

We spent two nights here and what a beautiful site it was. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful when we arrived. All facilities spotlessly clean.
Shop provided essentials otherwise nearest Co-Op store is in Portree so best to stock up on way through. We visited Dunvegan Castle whilst there (beware of the midges as they were out in force when we arrived, I have the bites to prove it.), my mother being a MacLeod made it all the more interesting.
The scenery was great. All in all, a wonderful site which we would definitely recommend and visit again if in the area.
