This is working farm with various fields where camping is allowed. Two are camping only and at least one has water taps and electric hook ups. Open fires and BBQ's are permitted. Toilets and showers are newish and clean. Some in portacabins.

There are bunkhouses that I didn't see and facilities for large groups to get together. A large group of teenagers seemed to be having a really good time and the site is large enough for them to have their own facilities and field.

The site has lovely views of the coast and is only 500 paces from the coastal path, with access to small coves and cliffs. Kayaking and surfing seem to be the favoured activities.

There are no shops or pubs in the immediate area but St Davids and little fishing villages, with good pubs and restaurants, are within a few minutes drive.

The owner and staff are all extremely kind and helpful.

All in all this is a very well maintained and pleasant site to visit and is continuously being improved.

If you are looking for a fresh air holiday with a lot of country and sea activities, then this is a good place to start.

This site does have basic amenities at the moment but they were more than adequate for the four of us. The showers were very hot.

We didn't make use of the electric hook-ups but they were plentiful. The campsite manager couldn't have been more helpful and the sea views were stunning.

Unfortunately the weather was not kind to and we were buffeted by very strong winds and driving rain for four nights out of the six we stayed.

When the wind dropped it was gorgeous being as it is situated right on the coastal path.

Just returned from a week at Pwll Caerog. It is a working farm with various types of accommodation. We stayed on the bottom field with hook-up. Field was flat with lots of space. Some stony parts to make pegging harder, but they came out easier! Portable loos and showers at the end of the field, these worked great all week. More toilets and showers in converted outbuildings. We never had to wait. Rob and Ian were very helpful and showed us where everything was, including toilet disposal. It is a working farm so sometimes they are not available, so talk to others staying there and they will point you in the right direction. The best things about the site were the picnic tables dotted about for you to use, they allow campfires (they supply cheap logs) and of course the stunning views.

Tyddewi (St Davids) has all the shops you need. Great beaches, we went to Whitesands and Abereiddi.

This part of Wales has everything for a 'get away from it all' break.

This is a rustic campsite on a working farm with level, spacious pitches near the farmhouse (approx 25), some offering hookups. The setting was stunning with coastal views, amazing sunsets and easy access to the coastpath.

The owner and manager were very friendly, welcoming and hospitable and the site had a very relaxed pace. If required, ice packs could be changed at the farmhouse, picnic tables brought to your pitch, we were offered a bag of logs for a fire on the grass and a BBQ.

There is a modern shower & toilet block but we were disappointed to learn on arrival, that this was for sole use of a very large group. The group were in a field across the other side of the farm and we had no problems concerning noise.

There were Porta-Showers (x 4) & Porta-loos (2-3 from memory); and also basic facilities in a stone barn consisting of 3 toilets, 1 shower, and 2 sinks which combined handwashing & dishwashing. Additional modern shower & toilet block planned for 2012.

Nearest shops in St Davids approx 5 miles away. We recommend The Sloop Inn at Porthgain; The Farmers Arms and The Bishops, in St Davids were family friendly, offered good hearty meals and cosy atmosphere.

I would happily return to this campsite again.

We arrived at the campsite and were initially blown away by the view of the sea and the surrounding area. Absolutely breathtaking. We were told by a member of staff who was extremely polite and welcoming that the toilet/shower block was in the adjacent barn and further facilities were available in the portacabins. Unfortunately, we were not told that the showers and toilets were communal! The hygiene of the toilets and showers leave a lot to be desired. There was no paper towels at all to dry your hands and the floors were always dirty and the barn flooded. We were there for 3 days and never saw anyone cleaning the facilities. The showers were in twin cubicles with no privacy and they were only lockable on our second day! Its a shame that more attention to cleaniness is not taken into account because this could be a beautiful campsite.

Unfortunately, when we were there the bunkhouse had a group of lads in and they were noisy until gone 4am which isn't fair when people are camping. There wasn't any sort of noise policy in place after dark so if you want a quiet and relaxing break, check first to see if there are any guests staying in the bunkhouses. We actually left a day early due to the conditions of hygiene and the noise at night from the bunkhouse.

Finally, the '20 minute walk' to Abereiddy they tell you about in the welcome speech actually takes over an hour albeit a beautiful walk and when you get to the other side, there is no pub nor refreshments so ensure you take a bottle of water at least! There is no shop on site as it is a working farm and the nearest shop seemed to be 6-7 miles away in St. David's.

The owner has said that new toilets and showers will be in place by 2012 and until they are, we unfortunately won't go back.

Owner's comments: We are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the facilities -

we do have a strict cleaning rota in place and as a working farm cleanliness is very high on our agenda! At peak times there can be a bit of water about and mud can be walked in from the camping field.

Of course we are sorry if campers are upset, all issues that we are made aware of, are dealt with swiftly . This goes hand in hand with our noise policy, again this is in place. We advertise that we allow single sex groups, but under strict behavioural guidelines. Issues are dealt with a firm hand, on the very rare occasion that this should occur....we are always here to help.

However.....Aberieddy is a steady 20 minute walk away and in clear view from the farm. A little research lets walkers know that Abereiddy is a rural beach and as such does not, and never has had a pub or shop, occasionally there is a van that sells Ice creams.....I do wonder if you were getting confused with Porthgain, which is about an hour away and has a very nice pub ?

We do not advertise a shop, and are sorry if this was inconvenient to you. However on many occasions we have purchased shopping for guests, provided breakfasts and run visitors into St Davids for provisions. which is bang on 4 miles away, when asked.

The view was absolutely beautiful. However, there was no chemical toilet disposal point and we saw people emptying theirs down one of the 2 toilets nearest the camping field.

The toilet/shower facilities left a lot to be desired! the site does cater for same sex groups and we had a group of 12-15 men camped next to us and it was quite noisy until they finally shut up at 1am!

All of this was a shame because we would have definitely gone back if these problems hadn't arisen.

Its a bit expensive (£20 per night) for the facilities available.

Owner's comments: We are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied, we are always happy to help when asked with regard to any issue. We do have two chemical disposal points, prices are £8 per adult, £6 teenagers & £4 from kids, which is competitive for the area ..... but of course can add up to £20 per night.

Ian, Judy and family made us feel very welcome and our two week stay very homely. The views are simply marvellous on this 'get away from it all' rustic campsite. We were extremely lucky with the weather - 12 days with only one day offering a little rain. So the best camping conditions. Our girls 10 & 12 loved it. The showers were hot and powerful - essential for camping. As we like all things to do with water, surfing, fishing etc its a great location. One of the highlights was the high-speed rib trip to Grassholm, dolphin and whale watching. So we're definitely going back and hope it doesn't get booked up too quickly, Ian - please save us a place! Downsides? - ground a bit tough for tent pegs, lots of stones, but they go in eventually.

Jim and Becky

I really enjoyed our trip to Pwll Caerog, the atmosphere was kind, fun and welcome. I found that I was never bored and there was so much going on. The walks along the coast and the beach were lovely.

This is not a site for those who want all the comforts of home, it's an honest to good campsite with good facilities on a working farm. The views are among the best in Wales, the people are friendly, polite and above all helpful. The farm is easy to find using a map; the area is very quiet with as much fresh air as you can possibly want. St.Davids is around four miles away and the supermarket (C.K.) have some of the best meat and Veg I have found. We will be returning to Pwll-Caerog again this coming weekend

Just come back from the farm. Amazing views from the site with a field of barley providing the backdrop to the ocean, with Strumble Head and another cliff finishing off the frame. The campsite is very rustic and on a working farm.

The site also has school children on outdoor pursuit breaks. Being on the western coast of Wales it was pretty windy, but the sunsets were spectacular.

My family had a pretty good time away, but the nearest shop is over 4 miles away and the pub about the same. However the local supermarket in St Davids is cracking and not one of the big chains. Very refreshing.

My son enjoyed it, but as it is a working farm and not a hobby farm, there isn't much opportunity to pet the animals. More suited for couples or families with older children.

However, the farmer was a really nice bloke and it had a very relaxed atmosphere to it.

Pwll Caerog Farm must rank as one of the best campsites in Pembrokeshire. If you're after a small site in a beautiful spot, then look no further!

Ian gave us a very warm welcome and tip-top advice on exploring the local area. In an age of unhelpful staff and grumpy service, Ian's friendly and personal service is notable. Pitches are only a field away from the coastal path, and all boast an excellent sea view.

The toilet and shower facilities closest to the pitches are simple but entirely sufficient, though if you're prepared to walk another 50m through the farmyard you'll find a brand new block with excellent showers, washbasins etc.

Pwll Caerog is an ideal spot from which to explore the delights of the Pembrokeshire coast - very close to St Davids but with the 'middle of nowhere' feeling too. After a 5 minute walk, you're on the coastal path, and a breathtaking walk is guaranteed. My wife and I look forward to returning to Pwll Caerog, and cooking evening meals whilst drinking in the spectacular view!
