It was our first experience of camping, we only booked four days in advance and they managed to squeeze us in. On arrival at the site the staff were very helpful, we were told we could just pick a spot to pitch our tent, however it would be better if the pitches were numbered or laid out in some sort of order. The amenities were very clean and tidy and the play park for the children was excellent. The pub sells good food at reasonable prices but the site does lack in having a shop for essentials ie. milk, sugar etc. Overall It was an enjoyable experience and we will be going back again.

I would definitely recommend Forget me Not if you have a family, it is after all set in a holiday park with enough to keep the kids happy, but if you're looking for a quite child free weekend you might want to give it a miss. The staff were all very friendly and polite and knew all the local places of interest Alnwick castle, druridge bay, Cragside hall etc. Most previous reviews complained about showers /toilets, but when we visited in July 2006 the new block was fully working and very clean, plus showers are free. The Croft pub on site now has full air conditioning and a separate family area which is non smoking so the 'to smokey' problem has been resolved too. I can't comment on the food but did enjoy a few very nice pints of beer. My family and I will definitely be returning for a weekend (or two) during the summer

We enjoyed our stay here, pitch not totally flat but not a big issue really, two rooms in the pub - main bar with pool table smokey but the family room is smoke free which we appreciated a-lot having young kids. Lager not the best but have had worse, site seemed quite well organised & clean. Ball games ok, very relaxing site. New toilet block excellent / family room ideal. Will definately visit again & soon.

Pitches not very level, pub was okay but was too smoky for children. A lot nicer places near by to get food from nearby, try the Shoulder of Mutton It did not have the nicest toilets but they were better than someplaces. Better places near by but okay if your stuck for somewhere to go, A nice place to go for the day nearby is cragside house but this is closed until April 2007. There is a lovely beach a few miles away called Druridge bay which is lovely to walk along on a sunny day

April 2005 This was our first time ever going camping. Forget-me-not Campsite made our first time great. The field we were in was pretty flat and not at all muddy. The toilets and showers were a little walk away but not too far and very clean. It will be much better when the new toilet block is finished. Even though it looks as it as come to a grinding holt. The Croft Pub was very busy when we were there and very smokey, but they all seemed friendly. The children enjoyed the play area it seemed safe for them to play on. We had a great weekend and im sure we'll be back again.

July 2004 We have just come back from this site.
We found the owners very friendly and all of the staff were very professional and friendly also - and there seemed to be a lot of them!!!!
This is not the place to go if you want to get away from children - it is very much a family site. The Croft pub has entertainment on every weekend, including bingo and quizes so if this isn't your idea of fun, give it a miss! Prices for the food seemed reasonable enough - main meals for £4 - and although we didn't eat there, those that did cleared their plates, which is always a good sign!!!
The camping section was nice and relatively flat, although it would have been better if there had been numbered pitches as it seemed to be a bit of a "free-for-all" and we were told we could pitch "anywhere"!
The new toilet and shower block is now under construction, but there doesn't seem to be much disruption to the site. This will be very much an improvement as the current facilities are very, very dated (I was reminded of the school showers - a memory taking me back too many years!!!!) and could do with sprucing up.
It is about 2 miles from Longhorsley but there is NOTHING there - the local shop is open from 6am til 12.30pm and is next to the pub, which was quite nice, but very "local"!!
All in all we had a lovely weekend - just wish summer would start!!!!

April 2004 Been to this site lots of times, through 3 different owners. The new owners have massively improved the site.
Toilet block mentioned by previous review has not been built. (I asked about it, they didn't get planning permission). Site has statics, touring caravan area and a tent field which has small childrens play area. The nearest shop is 1 1/4 miles away in Longhorsley, a lovely walk on a nice day.
Touring pitches are flat, each one has a post with a light on and its own water supply.
Showers and toilets are regularly cleaned but dont forget everyone has to walk across grass before entering, so dont expect immaculate. There is a family bathroom available, ideal if you have kids and want to keep the clothes dry. You have to go to reception for the key.
Pub does food but haven't tried personally, but prices are fair and apparently food is very good. Alcohol is reasonably priced £1.80 for a pint of beer. Kids are allowed in family room, which has pool table.
Staff are very helpful, we went THAT RAINY WEEKEND IN APRIL, pitches were muddy, they even brought out flag stones.
OVERALL - a quiet site, not alot to do, (Suits us!!!), ideal for a quiet few days in the country. Would recommend to anyone, we will definitely be going back.

August 03 On arrival at the park we were informed by a friendly and informative receptionist that the park had been under new management this year and that plans were in place to improve the toilet block by building a new one, It needs it! The current facilities were inadequate and dirty. The pitch we were shown to was not very level and had bald mud patches and tussocky grass. We pitched and sited a small childrens tent as we had on many other sites. This however is not allowed here , so if that is one of your needs this may not be for you. We left the next morning as the site was not suitable for our proposed weeks stay.Site has a bar and small shop, we were warned that at weekends as bar open untill midnight it could be noisy.
